Since I haven't seen a thread in a few pages let's post some fuckin' knives.

Gonna be picking up this bad-boy soon, it's a Higo no Kami Naka. I'm gonna get the smaller size because our knife laws are like 3.5 inches. They're handmade and you can pick em up for about 20$ on amazon, check it out! Anyway post some damn knives!

bought a swiss army knife the other day. a climber model to be exact.

i bought that specific one because it has an awl on the back and two because it has a rope hook thing. i wear boots in the winter and its super nice to be able to really yank on the strings. ill probably end up dedicating one of the tools to hash oil tho.

in the long run i might end up buying that one i would have if i had known it had existed.

my climber has a wine cork instead of Phillips screw driver which id rather have a phillips head screw driver and lacks the pliers which are always nice. biggest concern at that poin is width, my climber is pretty small.

been carrying a Spyderco Endura Wave for going on 3 years now. absolutely love it, probably wouldn't carry anything else at this point unless I was going camping or something. I love the blade shape.

I've been tempted by those higo no kami things but I know I'd get and throw it in a drawer after an hour of playing with it and never look at it again.

fixed>fold in just about every scenario if you're able to carry them. One of the obvious drawbacks is size and it would look pretty odd to walk around in a suit and tie with a 5-7 inch blade on your hip or strapped to your leg

As much as I love a good fixed blade, I'd rather have a folding most of the time. People don't need to know I have a knife, and I find having things in my pocket more comfortable than having things on my waist.

I'm looking for something that's reliable and durable. Could I get a quality one for somewhere around ~$50 on Amazon?

if you put a 3 inch piece of metal inside another persons body its going to do serious damage... i feel like alot of peopel for some reason fail to understand that a fucking knife is a sharpened slab of metal with a handle of some fashion. probably the most important statistic is what kind of metal its made out of. if the knife says "stainless" its probably crap. you want some variation of high carbon steel, like 1095. soft steel wont hold an edge well but will be easier to sharpen.

it depends, do you want this to look taticool? the knife you showed uses a rat tail tang which is better then alot of other styles but not as strong as full tang and im assuming its glued in. this knife likely will stand alot of abuse, but its still a 1095 steel blade

here is a link to 5 knifes all made out of 1095, for 50 dollars, they use wooden full tang riveted handles that will be easy to be replaced if you some how manage to break one. now i know you will laugh at me, but those are kitchen knifes! yes i know but they fit all your criteria and to be honest, you could reshape any of the blades with a grinding wheel which is actually pretty common.

Where do yu live OP? It is a common misconception that in Canada there is a 3.5 inch knife rule. I cannot speak for the Whole country, but here in Ontario, I uave been told by senior police ataff that the laws say 3.5 inches is for pocket-concealed carry. Tucking knives to hide them in clothing is considered a concealed weapon, but simply puttng a knife in your pocket is not concealed and not a weapon because you are not attempting to hide the blade. As for anything over 3.5 inches, it must be carried om the outside and front of your person in full view so that all can see that you are carrying a large blade and as long as you do not intend to use it in an aggressive manner. Though you do have the right to defend yourself under reasonable grounds.

I use an old USA made Schrade Sharpfinger for just about... everything. This isn't a fighting knife (though it'd still be nasty up close) instead, it is a tool. I use it for everything from skinning deer and other game, to filleting fish, to cutting up meat and vegetables for dinner, to whittling wood around the campfire, to cutting paracord for whatever purpose, to cleaning and cutting my nails, and as an eating utensil (washing it beforehand, obviously)

It has never le me down in any of these tasks, and remains on my belt quite often. I did use a dremel to add some gimping on the thumb rest at the top-rear of the blade, though. Not really needed but, I like it. I highly recommend this knife to anyone who wants a ubiquitous tool. They're made in China nowadays and I'm not sure how the quality matches up but, it's a simple formula and they can't have messed it up too bad. They go for about $20.

I'm guessing your mora probably rusted because you got the carbon steel version instead of the stainless and didn't oil it occasionally. Just use some 0000 steel wool and some gun oil and it'll come right off. Carbon for sharpness, stainless for corrosion resistance.
