So this guy was in a deadly hand to hand fight against an enemy, it turned downright desperate..various punches to the face, using his helmet as a bludgeon..even going so far as using the steel plate of his armour to beat the enemy with..the insurgent even went so far as to bite him in the dick before the soldier remembered he had a knife and planted it in his throat. Overall a very vicious, brutal and downright savage battle between two men, face to face, on a modern battlefield.
Are there any other examples of hand to hand fighting in modern war? I don't know why it fascinates me..maybe its because even though wars today are waged with high tech weaponry and firearms, there are still (though rare) cases of fighting coming down to man to man, eye to eye, and hand to hand.

That guy is definitely a bullshitter. Maybe his stories are based in reality but greatly exaggerated.

Yeah..actually, there is another video with the same guy telling the same story..except he fucked up and left out parts that he emphasized in my OP video. So yeah, he is making shit up about it. Still, I wonder how it really went down.
I mean, my first instinct would be to grab my knife and start stabbastabbastabbin away..strange how it took him so long to realize he had a knife designed for that very purpose

since memory is unstable, I wouldn't shoot him down just for not telling the same story twice.

However, I don't believe him at all - his willingness to share so openly is particularly strange and unlike what I anecdotally know to be true with veteran. I find most don't like to share like that with family and friends, much less television.

also it's the fucking military channel, full of garbage programming.

Look up the sandbar duel. That's a good fight. Uh what else. I collect Ebooks and there's some interesting stories in one I have that details certain countries histories of knife fighting. Spain, Italy (specifically the south like sicily) and strangely the Philippines (probably because of their spanish stuff) they're all countries with proud knife fighting traditions. I.e the Italians used the stiletto and in more recent time, the folding stiletto, because it could be easily concealed. They had a long thing blade, with what's known as a bayonet style. Partially sharpened down the non-sharp side to aid in it's ability to slide between ribs instead of bouncing off and puncture vital organs. Most of the stories I read were more like local legends. Like one guy pinned to a wall with a chair and stabbed in the chest (to the hilt) with a long thin knife and stabbed in the stomach and arm. He pulled his own knife and stuck his assailant in the throat killing him and the other ran.

I wish there was some good videos around of guys using navajas. Apparently they were deadly quick and would dart about switching hands and stuff. Often using hats, capes or coast to flick the opponent in the face, thereby distracting him then going in for a lethal slice. Alternatively they'd wrap their non dominant arm (i.e the hand that doesn't hold the knife) with their coat to use it as a bit of a shield.

I know of a case where some guys came in to rob a house, one was a patched gang member. One had a kninfe, another had a lead pipe. Only two people inside and one had one leg. Two younger men came from nearby when they heard what happened. One took the knife off the robber and stabbed him multiple times between the belt and neck and the other got bludgeoned by anything on hand. All in all the robbery was a total failure. Was there not long afterwards and it was a fucking blood bath. Blood covering the floor from the door to the lounge. EVERYWHERE. Oh also while my uncle lived in south africa, he was walking the dog in their fenced off backyard. A black man jumped the fence stabbed him and stole the dog. It was a german shepherd

Probably is. I already explained the reason for the pinoy specialism in knife fighting. It actually IS a strange phenomenon considering Laos, Thailand, Burma, etc have no knife fighting schools to speak of yet in the Philippines knife making is a cottage industry. They say all pinoy carry a knife.

wow i made that post 2 years ago. i was mocking the fact he said "strangely," since the phillippines are renowned in the martial arts community as some of the best knife fighters in the world. most knife systems drill with 8 directions of attack, in arnis they start with 12 then get up to 18, with terrifying speed and precision.

This IDF soldier had a terrorist pop out of a bush and throw a grenade at him, so he rushed him down and picked him up and used him as a shield against the explosion.

Gurkha soldier draws his Kukri knife and launches himself at a group of at least 15 armed robbers targeting a train. Seriously wounds a number of them before being overpowered and wounded himself.
