Won't this thread literally be filled with nothing but .22's or prank 5 year olds with 12ga/30-06?

By any chance do you own the Ruger 10/22 takedown as well? I've been eyeing both the AR7 and the 10/22 takedown and I'd like some to hear some opinions from someone who has both. They both look like great little innawoods plinking rifles that are perfect for carrying while hiking.

I have a buddy with a 10/22 take down and he likes it a lot. He really enjoys how easy it makes the thing to clean. He doesn't have any point of aim issues that I know of either.

I've got a regular wood 10/22 myself and I personally prefer that more but I prefer the wooden stocks.

My dad started teaching me so early I don't even remember. I'm sure it was some sort of .22 rifle though.

Kind of misread the thread, like I said I don't remember what the first firearm I ever shot was but the first I owned was a Cooey model 39. Still got it and I can still shoot the hairs off a gnat's ass with it.

Yeah I've been leaning to the 10/22 as well. Mainly due to the ease of take down and availability of aftermarket parts, plus I've had good experience dealing with Ruger in the past. The AR7 looks super lightweight and neat that it all fits in the stock, but after digging around a bit I hear it's a good deal less accurate than the 10/22. Probably something to do with how the barrel is mounted on the receiver. I may be wrong on that, so feel free to correct me.

I usually prefer wood stocks as well, but IMO a synthetic stock is perfect for a take down since it reduces the weight and holds up well against bad weather.

Just bought my first gun yesterday, a Savage Model 64 LR, synthetic stock. Very excited to get out to a range or a field somewhere and get acquainted with it. The first guns I shot were my uncle's, a rifle and I think a ten-gauge, and then I learned to actually shoot in the military. There's something to be said for the thrill of ownership though.

My first gun was a round receiver izhevsk 91/30. Still have it. Maintained it well since it was my first rifle, and it still has mirror, well defined bore.
