I think they were the old school equivalent to benzos, just more dangerous.

I've only tried phenobarbital but not a high enough dose, just felt heavy. Plus pheno is one of the least abusable ones. Chlorobarb is better.

Yeah they stopped using barbs because benzos you can't die on (alone)

I've had:
>ethaqualone
>methaqualone
>mebroqualone

this was a good 6 years ago or so when I was more on the pulse of internet drug trades

I was never really impressed with the effects of any of them, but personally I fucking hate the inebriation from benzos so there wasn't much of a chance of me liking qualudes either

oh shit I just realized this was about barbs not ludes, gonna hit post anyways

Phenobarbital is garbage you can't get high on though it will make you sleep. Butalbital, found in fioricet,is rather nice though.

I had Phenobarbital once. Only barb I've tried but I though it was fucking awesome. Way better than benzos. But I'm on Rx benzos, so I'm sure the compound effects skew my opinion in favor.

Secobarbital is my favorite. I can see why it was mostly discontinued in favor of benzos. It's less therapeutic and more fun, like a clean version of alcohol mixed with /opi/ euphoria. It makes me feel goofy and VERY relaxed, but in control.

Butalbital is also pretty good, but not as euphoric as secobarbital. It's perfect if you want to get fucked up and/or fall asleep without as much risk of redosing and blacking out as you'd have on benzos. The muscle relaxation is strong.

Technically I've also had phenobarbital. But the dosage was tiny, and it was combined with enough other drugs that I couldn't really identify its unique effects.

Almost all my /benz/o trials have ended in shame, public humiliation, or monetary loss. The high from barbiturates, however, is much easier to control because it's less sneaky and more "in your face". Most barbs are pretty toxic with regular use and addiction, but fortunately I've never had access to enough barbs to get to that point.
