Let's talk Let's Go. Who's playing it? What do you think?

I'd tell you my opinion, but I gotta go grocery shopping and have to take my Growlithe for a walk in the pokeball plus.

I want to get it, but poverty. It sounds too easy from what I've heard. Specifically, Pikachu and Eevee are OP, especially Eevee. I'm not sure if you can evolve Eevee, which is odd. It doesn't seem worth worrying about interesting movesets unfortunately.

Yeah the starter can't evolve and they do get pretty OP. You can catch regular versions of them to evolve, but you can also drop them from your team entirely and just do your own thing, nobody's forcing you.

Currently rolling with Porygon, Arbok, Arcanine, Weepinbell, Alolan Raichu, and Rhydon. It's a fucking weird mashup but it works. Just about to clear Silph Co.

Don't have a Switch. Would get one if Gen 8 were exclusive to the console though.

Been watching let's plays on Youtube. It looks RIDICULOUSLY easy. Exp. Share is broken as usual, the starters are OP as fuck and most of the trainers are no challenge whatsoever.

I like how the expanded on Team Rocket's story slightly with Archer and the Cubone.
And of course it's awesome that Jessie and James are there! It looks like a nice game, but way too easy.

Also I dislike hearing that Pokemon is for kids. I'm 27, and yeah I played pokemon when it came out, but like any fun gaming franchise, I feel no obligation to stop playing just because I'm older now. Plenty of adults play casual games, and pokemon even has a competitive scene.

It's a great thing that pokemon can bridge generations. I took my 7 year old niece out to play Pokemon go the other day. It was swell.

As for this it's not going to make me buy a Switch however I can see it as a good bridge game between supercasual Pokemon GO players on phones and Nintendo console Pokemon games

I'm currently playing LGP. Is it a casual experience? Yes. Is it horrible? Absolutely not. I'm actually enjoying it. There are definitely some features that I don't want carried over into the next generation, but it's not as terrible as most smogon-fags are making it out to be.

Are there TMs? Can you make interesting move setups, like sub-punch, baton pass team, or a soft-boiled blissey wall strategy? That's pretty important to me, and while I do appreciate smogon, I also am a casual player.

>interesting move setups
Maybe? you're very much limited by the mons of the gen1 dex.

Just get a psychic type and at least 50% of the battles are an instant win.

https://www.serebii.net/letsgopikachueevee/tms.shtml

I hope this helps. Given that there are no abilities or held items, there's no point in being strategic. Trust me, when Gamefreak said LGPE was intended to be casual, they weren't joking. Also, Blissey or any Pokemon beyond the Kanto-Dex aren't in this game.

the madmen have actually put together a metagame
https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/lgpe-overused.3644015/

eevee-starter and rest are the only ways to cure status, stealth rocks exist but defog and rapid spin don't. the meta revolves around spreading status, taunting to keep off hazards and prevent status and bulking around until you chip people down. feels a lot like the actual gen 1 meta but with modern features.

I don’t want to play anymore. The gen 4 meta sucked because everyone had stealth rock. Fire and bug types are my favorites and that just makes it not fun if you can’t get rid of it. Boo hoo me.

>Stealth Rock made it into LGPE, but Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and Sticky Web are all absent.
>However, also absent are Rapid Spin & Defog, meaning once SR is up it is up for the duration of the battle.
>What about friendship and the 10% boost to all stats at maximum friendship?

Why is Smogon trying to force a metagame into LGPE?

Because pokemon is SRS BIZNIZ

The competitive scene is a cancer on the entire series. A small group of elitist players who spend thousands of hours on breeding and spreadsheets just to get that 0.01% edge.

Let's face it, most players are "casuals" who just enjoy the rpg single player for what it is.

I haven't played the metagame in two years, but I still have love for it. The intricacies of it have been drilled into my head, man. I was also one of those people who spent hours trying to breed the right pokemon. Even though I have this history with the metagame, even I'm shaking my head at this shit that was posted earlier in this thread.

I still haven't finished Let's Go (Due to grinding for Melmetal in Pokemon Go, fuck my life) but I'm confident that Gamefreak could totally find a happy medium between what casual players and smogon-fags want.

Because played casually Pokemon is about battlin and bonding and trading.

Played competitively it sucks up the time you could use to read a book, go for a run or find a girlfriend.

It’s a grind fest. People either like grindfests or don’t. I flip between liking it and not. 90% of competitive play is running around with 5 eggs and a flame body dude to get eggs to hatch. It’s fucking boring and lame.

It’s a grind that involves pushing the joystick in one direction and pressing a a couple times. No wonder people don’t like it and mock it.

See again, this is a lot of hostility and misinformation about... Post-game content in a video game

Yeah you said it dude you either like it or you don't, and nobody fucking cares that you're a casual who doesn't want to put as much time into it as the people who are getting more enjoyment out of it.

Stop bitching because you don't like the game as much as other people.
Also 90% of competitive play is Pokemon showdown.

I don't play competitively (well not online, I like the Battle Frontier, Maison etc), but I do breed and EV train. I go for 255/255 spread in HP/speed and attack/special attack so I only use adamant or modest nature. I guess I'm somewhere in between casual and smogon elitist. I think being too perfectionist about pokemon can spoil a lot of the fun, being too casual and you won't play it a lot (I have over 10000 hours on pokemon lol). But you should just let people play how they want to play. That's best.

Yeah they get more enjoyment out of the game they play when they battle.

Not when they breed though.

And what happens with the casuals who do other things instead of riding around paniola ranch on a tauros in the grass with a larvesta at the helm, spraying repel and grabbing eggs? All those hours obtaining that one pokemon? (I do it all the time it can take anywhere from 1 to 4 hours with a perfect ditto breeding the mon, so don't tell me this is misinformation too)

You could

Get in a huge work out
Go outside and enjoy life
Smoke weed
or even play a game with more action in it.

The only real reason I play the games is for the battles and frankly I should have just hacked all these perfect IV bullshit mons.

The hostile people are right. Breeding sucks. I agree with them.

Saying that they will get more enjoyment out of it if they breed the pokes themselves is ridiculous. No they wouldn't, they'd just waste 3-4 hours per mon like I did.

No but seriously have you ever thought that you could get more enjoyment doing activities other than breeding pokemon? These thoughts creep into my head as I hatch eggs.

I love breeding eggs. I usually do it while doing something else, watching movies, YouTube etc. Weirdly, it also helps me sleep if I do it before bed because it's boring doing it on it's own. But yeah, if you do it on it's own you will not enjoy it. It is great when you finally get that pokemon with great IVs though.

bro you don't even need to breed for competitive anymore, there's so many move tutours in the games you rarely need egg moves and hyper training lets you take any level 100 pokemon and give it perfect 31 iv's in every stat
