Google starts flagging offensive content in search results by Phyllis Shittingford - Sat, 18 Mar 2017 16:31:17 EST ID:bVaUMN7o No.389500 Ignore Report Quick Reply

>With growing criticism over misinformation in search results, Google is taking a harder look at potentially "upsetting" or "offensive" content, tapping humans to aid its computer algorithms to deliver more factually accurate and less inflammatory results.
>The humans are Google's 10,000 independent contractors who work as what Google calls quality raters. They are given searches based on real queries to score the results, and they operate based on guidelines provided by Google.
>On Tuesday they were handed a new one: to hunt for "Upsetting-Offensive" content such as hate or violence against a group of people, racial slurs or offensive terminology, graphic violence including animal cruelty or child abuse or explicit information about harmful activities such as human trafficking, according to guidelines posted by Google.
>The goal: to steer people with queries such as "did the Holocaust happen" to trustworthy websites and not to websites that engage in falsehoods or hate speech.

Wait until your IP provider starts collecting 'targeting advertising data' and sees 420chan and sells that data to law enforcement.

this is obviously misdirection to steer people away from learning the truth about google's involvement in the holocaust and their plans to clone hitler. it's all part of a centuries long plot predating their involvement in the tech sector to conquer the world under the flag of "googlegov" and a single race of googolians. which is mostly white people from california.

So who does google consider an authority on what constitutes as offensive, and why is offensive content being equated with wrongthink and false information?

This is absolutely dangerous territory to be treading. We're mere footsteps away from putting people against a wall and corrected with lead for disagreeing with what an arbitrary entity deems as appropriate thoughts with how the media at large is reacting to growing nationalism in the West.

Gotta love one-dimensional turds people shit into conversations that fail to take into account any sort of nuance or the reality outside of their ideology

>corporation is spreading its tentacles into every aspect of life, positioning itself to be ominpresent and cultivating influence
>just don't use it, even though it's fucking everywhere in your daily life and you can't escape it!

Algorithmic dispersing of Nazi propaganda is a pretty good idea.

Would flag again.

I'm not trying to project. All am saying is the media using "fake news" as a legitimate argument, google doing this, and Facebook already selling out people with right wing ideals to the german government, etc., is very dangerous regardless of your own political leanings. The internet in general has become a liability to those in positions of power.

It won't stop at racist and Nazi memes, and if you think so, you're very naive.

I think it's funny that the right wing will mock people for having a victim complex and then turn around and spew this bullshit

I think it's pretty funny how the left preaches tolerance and acceptance but demands censorship against any one they don't agree with, no matter the cost to personal freedom.

Google is a private company. As such, they're free to optimize their search engine results however they'd like. If this were government action on a government search engine, I'd probably oppose it. But, I mean, really. Google can do whatever the fuck they want in terms of how their algorithms prioritize search results.

Yeah, and Kirt can delete every board except /cd/ and /jenk/. Just because somebody can do something doesn't mean you shouldn't oppose it.

Google is the biggest search engine in the world, it's how most people find shit. Propagandizing it isn't okay with me and I don't care if it's a private company or not.

It's also prohibited to post blatant racism, other hatespeech and dox here and mods will delete it. (Not if they are anything but lax on enforcing it though).
That is basically what google is doing.

They don't want their search results to be astroturfed by fucking NAZIS, get a hold of yourself. And if they hire a bunch of people from Bangladesh or let an algorithm delete them, the end result is the same.
The only difference is the irrational fear of AI coming from crank sites. The solution: stop reading crank.

'If You're Not Paying, You're The Product"

Zuckerberg covered this as well when he said as much: if you don't like the way we run Facebook, don't use it.

Now, since Google is a Publicly Traded company, you can become a shareholder and make your feelings heard at the shareholder meetings. Other than that, stop using Gmail or any Google services.

also, you oppose google by using duck duck go. their shareholders won't give a rat's ass until the bottomline starts dwindling.
