smoking cigarettes is a slippery slope. It can start with only smoking at parties and then it turns into a few a day, and then before you know it you're a pack a day smoker. It takes a lot of self control to stick to only a couple cigarettes a day. I try to limit myself to 5 or less.

I reckoned that if smoking helped me overcome the initial anx. i'd be fine. I'm fine if people introduce themselves to me and start a conversation, but people don't generally like to do that with the quiet guy in the corner. Also, sitting around doing nothing is far less anx. inducing if i'm rolling a fag instead.

Smoking isn't a good way to get rid of social anxiety. It'll give you a little buzz at first, but after about a month or so you'll lose the buzz and then it does nothing for you. Nicotine is a pretty mild drug, I would say alcohol serves better as a social lubricant provided you don't go overboard. Smoking can be enjoyable, I've basically quit, but very rarely I will bum a cig off of someone. Ultimately, smoking is a big waste of money and has a plethora of negative health consequences and it doesn't even feel that good.

It's your body so you can do whatever you want, but I wouldn't start to help out with anxiety. I only smoke to relieve stress that is caused by an addiction to cigarettes in the first place. It's a cruel cycle.

i like to smoke after i feel relaxed either on benzos or opiates. also, after i eat.

I figured out that I like to smoke when I have drugs (weed or otherwise) to add to the buzz, and I also like to smoke when I don't have any drugs just to smoke something. repeat ad nauseum and i'm addicted.

im quitting right now. I used to go through a pack of cigarettes every 2 days. I now switched to smoke less tobacco and I have not had a cigarette in 2 weeks. I plan to move to portioned snus next them ill move to nasal snuff. After that I guess patches.

I have to go a town over just for a gas station that sells underage.
Which sucks, since it's annoying as hell to waste 10-15 minutes of gas all because this state bumped up the age to 19. I'm an underage adult. It's become pretty ritualistic over the years though.

I quit running about the same time I picked up smoking. Smokers' lungs are a demotivating factor.

I ran track while smoking and I love the feel of a nicotine rush right after a workout. Smoking on a workout high is heaven.
