pipe vs fags by Doris Turveyway - Thu, 21 Mar 2013 16:42:35 EST ID:jY9gZBPQ No.153155 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

How does pipe smoking compare to cigarettes or cigars?

I've only smoked fags but I'm considering switching to a pipe.

Is it healthier? Is the smoke smoother or what?

Pipe tobacco is generally better than what you'd get in cigarettes... and isn't taxed the same way cigs are. cost of a pack of cigs ~= cost of 2oz pipe tobacoo.

A corn cob pipe is 1/3 the price and leaps and bounds above a basket pipe.

If you smoke it correctly, better for your lungs just like a cigar, just as awful for the lips, everything in the mouth, back of the throat, and sometimes sinuses. The smoke depends on what tobacco you buy, and to a degree what pipe you smoke it in (mostly has to do with bowl shape, stem length, any weird design things like with magic inch pipes, and what kind of filter you have if any.)

Start with a corn cob pipe or even a cheap hardwood, you can get them at msot any tobacconist, online, and even head shops for $5-10 and some five brothers tobacco. Five brothers in most anything = 10/10. Also, be wary of unpackaged no-name tobacco from head shops and drug stores, it's usually terrible.

pic related, my favorite pipe.

>filter in - smooth smoking aromatics
>filter out - flake, plug, etc

But be aware that bulk tobacco (you can buy it by the oz) in good smoke shops is usually really good.

So excited,
first time post on /smoke/

I recently started smoking cigars. So all of the cigar world is new for me. Hence a few questions:

  1. There's a box of cigars next to me but I don't have a cutter. Best ways to cut anyway?

2. If I want to stop smoking and continue the cigar another time, should I cut off the ashed head of the cigar?

3. How often do you take a draw? I've heard people take 1 or 1 1/2 hours for a cigar, ,ain't got no time for that right now.

Thanks in advance!

You can use something to poke a hole in the cap. Possibly a pen. A sharp straight blade knife would work also. Or go get a $3 cutter.

Cut off the ash and blow the smoke out or draw on it until there is no more smoke in it.

Every 30 seconds to a minute is about the right amount of time for a draw. Longer than 2 minutes and it might start going out.

So I've always smoked cigars. Recently I started smoking cigs, but I feel like I'm doing it wrong. I end up dragging on the cig like you would a cigar and then inhaling it. While this works, and is one the smoothest way I've found to smoke; it just feels like I'm doing it wrong. So what is the "proper" way to smoke cigarettes compared to cigars.

Also I could use some brand suggestions. So far my favorite is camel crush. I really like the menthol and its quite smooth.

Been smoking at least fifteen a day, up to about thirty if I'm drunk for about nine months, it don't do shit to me. I feel normal, that's it. If I don't have a fag for like an hour and a half I get pissy and bitchy and annoyed.

If you don't let yourself get addicted you will almost always feel a buzz. I take weeks and months off at times and I never smoke more than 4 a day also I take days off in between days of smoking when I have a pack. I have been doing this for over 5 years so I know I'm in control. I just bought a pack yesterday after a 4 week break.

Although I still want to permanently quit.

>>153590 Man no fucking way I could do that, maybe if I really had to/wanted to. Been smoking for like 4 years and longest breaks I've took have been a week max, as a little cleansing/tolerance (lol) break. Having a cig after a break like that feels so damn relaxing.

I'd say being able to go a week+ without a smoke shows you're not too addicted. Most "real" smokers I know can't make it past a couple hours without a cig.

Sup, /smoke/. So I stop by this local Texaco where I live in Georgia and ask the clerk for Turkish Royals. He's foreign as fuck and says some humbabbi shit I don't understand, then tosses over the pack. I pick it up and it's light green, says "Camel Turkish Jade Lights." The fuck? I decide screw it, might as well just get these since I've never even seen them before. And god. That was the right choice. They were amazing. It's weird though, because I looked them up when I got home and apparently they were discontinued 6 years ago. Guess this place just randomly had an aged stock?

Nice, I was just about to say those were discontinued when I read the beginning of the thread.

I've heard from older smokers that they were really nice cigarettes, dunno why they were discontinued. That's odd they had 6 year old packs. I'd imagine they would've tasted stale and dry.

I'm not much of a tobacco smoker. I have about 3-4 cigs a year, usually when I'm drinking, or sometimes when I'm rolling up and I'm short on weed. I really don't like how most cigarettes seem harsh, but the buzz is kinda nice. Recently one of my friends let me try Djarums and I really loved how they tasted and how smooth they were. I said cigarettes remind me of coffee, while the Djarums reminded me of tea. Then I was sad to learn that they are really hard to find where I live in the US. So what are some other brand of cigarettes / cigars that have a smooth, mild taste like Djarums do? Give me something to try.

Anyone started an attempt or successfully quit recently?

My father, a smoker since age 15 (he's 72 now), had a >95%-blocked carotid artery Roto-Rootered clean on Monday and has finally made an effort at quitting. I'm a week off my 25th birthday and roughly my 6th year of smoking and have been a day and a half without.

Mentally maintaining a false sense of urgency and drinking a lot keeps the mind off tobacco pretty damned decently.

well, you get 5 dollars and you go to any store or gas station and you buy an ashtray. For less than the price of 1 pack of smokes. And then every cigarette you smoke can go into your new ash tray right next to your sweaty semen stained sofa..

Or just use a can. Round these parts we drink beer, and we smoke. So empty beer cans become ash trays all around the house. its recycling and shit.
