I've been kind of attracted to magic a while, but never felt like actually going into it before now. But I feel kind of lost, it's hard to get a grip or general view of what areas and ways of approaching things are actually out there, and I also feel like some of it should be left alone, lest it be in the way by priming expectations a certain way. So I'm a bit apprehensive about just diving head first into whatever I find first to find out more by reference. Especially with all the variation now, modern reinterpretations and so on.

So essentially I'm looking for some kind of reliable birdview of the work done so far. Were we at.
If there's nothing like that out there, I'd appreciate any kind of pointer for directions to look. It's hard to be a beginner when there's so much information, of such varying quality, that you can't even tell yet if it's reliable or not since you've no idea whatsoever what good info in the area looks like.

And maybe I don't even know really what I mean with magic, now that I think about it. I just know by contact that there are sigils, summoning, alchemy & philosophers stone (does that count as magic?), mindforms, and so on. I'm kindish familiar with the poison path, which I guess goes under witchcraft, which I guess would be some kind of magic. Other than that I am fresh to the area.

Thank you for your time even if you only read.

It should just be a personal thing. So when studying just go to whatever you like most. Then when you start to get a handle on what your about i would suggest working with other people. I prefer sex magic and have been lucky enough to stumble upon more then a few women who where at least familiar with it as well. I think its important just because its great to do it on your own but when you can find orher people and have shares experiences its kinda amazing. Because you can’t explain it. That is to say interesting things might happen to both of you in the same way.

Also its important to have your shit together. So as a basic start up i can not recommend enough, starting out any magical endeavor by studying analytical psychology like jung and Freud. And practicing simple things like meditation, and natural altered states. While you studying what ever it is you end up choosing. Also have fun.
