Another year, another fantasy football campaign. This thread is where you can discuss your fantasy football team, league, and any questions you may have regarding fantasy sports. It will also serve as the official thread for the Official /wooo/ Fantasy Football League.

The first post of this thread will discuss official league business. I want this thread to serve as a fantasy football general as well, so I don't want people to think it's only /wooo/ league related.

If you want to sign up for a league, you can join on any of these sites.

There's always the exceptions to the rules. I just believe that there are more reasons for there being these rules in place than there are those that are exceptions. As a Clemson Tigers fan, I used to wonder why people thought Florida State's kicker was better than our kicker. Chandler Catanzaro was amazing when he was a Tiger. He played three years with the Cardinals and now he's with the Jets. Aguayo is now looking for a place to even challenge for a shot. It just never made sense.

To be fair, Aguayo is still the all time most accurate kicker in college football, and kicker is the position where things change the least from the college to pro level. Sure round 2 is early, but if the Bucs had a need at the position and they believed another team would've taken him then it's not all that unreasonable to take him when all signs pointed to him being a great prospect.

Sure he's a bust now but there were no questions about him coming out of college, he just couldn't handle the pressure of the big league.

Well it looks like he went to Chicago, so it looks like he'll get a second chance. I guess I understand why there needs to be a kicker for the real thing. I just think it's a useless spot in fantasy football. How often does a kicker actually change the outcome of a game? I can't think of a time where a kicker was what put me over into the win column. I'd rather have an extra bench spot than a spot for a kicker. Unfortunately, most leagues want them.

I think a lot of people agree with you but for the opposite reason: how frustrating it is to lose because of a kicker. Kickers go for between 7-15 points most weeks and sometimes even more, whereas a flex guy could easily lay an egg. It adds even more randomness to fantasy but can also be really frustrating.

Maybe I've never had a good kicker then. Usually I'm lucky if I get around five or six points. Sometimes I don't even get that much. I've had some rare occasions where I get close to ten. Still I can't remember a time when the four points my kicker got me, was enough to get me a win over my opponent. Most of the time a kicker isn't going to be my last second hail mary for a win.

Damn, White Sox just got the Cubs' top two prospects for Jose Quintana. If everything works out then in a couple years the White Sox are going to have a lot of great young players on their roster a la the Astros.

Cubs are still going to miss the playoffs and finish under .500 this year, though. Hopefully they fire Maddon because of it but Ricketts seems too much of a softee to fire Maddon so quickly even though a young team has seriously regressed and that's the absolute worst thing that can happen to a group of young players (they're supposed to get better as they enter their prime or plateau, not get exponentially worse across the board). Maddon bugs me because he manages like a laissez-faire parent of a "gifted" kid, where they think everything will sort itself out if they just stay positive and let the kid do their own thing, but then the kid hits high school and peer pressure along with hormones gradually screw the kid up except their parent isn't there to straighten them out so they don't fail before getting to the finish line because they're a goddamn lazy hippy asshole. That's Joe Maddon, he needs to straighten up this group of young players, punish them for mistakes, and work them hard to help them develop and refine their skillsets, but instead he manages like a stupid asshole and lets them get thrown out on the basepaths for stupid, risky decisions, doesn't get on them for terrible defensive decisions in the field that costs the team runs, and terrible batting decisions with runners in scoring position (which the team ranks near the bottom of the league).

Adrian Beltre with a sneaky 3000 hits. I remember seeing him come up with the Dodgers in what feels like another lifetime ago. I never really thought of him as a future HOFer, just a solid player, but he's quietly put together a HOF career so good on him. He's still playing very good at 38, too, so if he plays a couple more years he could possibly get to 500 HR's, too.

Apparently he's fine, just rolled his ankle, but the Sixers aren't going to play with fate so they're sitting him anyways. Summer League is dumb, anyways. It's glorified NBADL tryouts that some teams pepper with the occasional rookie or sophomore to appease the NBA overlords so the trash games get at least someone to watch. He would only play with one or two guys that he would actually play with during the regular season so it's better for him to just practice with the team and play in the preseason games to build up chemistry.

So apparently Kyrie Irving demanded to be traded since he's sick of LeBron's shit, but since Cavs staffers leaked that to the press now his potential trade value is shot. No idea who the Cavs could get in return for Irving since he has a pretty hefty contract, although one report saying Irving would prefer a trade to the Spurs made me laugh.

It's so funny how much coverage Lavar Ball is getting whether he says something outlandish or does something like get a referee removed from a game. Lonzo's gonna have a lot to prove this up oming season and live up to his dad's Big Baller Brand hype machine.

Lonzo's pretty much in the clear as long as the Lakers dont' let Lavar into the locker room. Lavar's going to be riding the gravy train for at least another 3 years, though, because of his antics with LiAngelo over the next year and LaMelo for the next 3 years.

Bruce Allen and the Redskins completely fumbled on the negotiations with Kirk Cousins. They weren't gonna give him much more than what he'll already be making under the franchise tag now and don't completely trust him to give a big contract, which I wouldn't if he's only taken them to the playoffs once on a 9-7 record and missed the playoffs on 8-7-1. He might as well go to the 49ers and reunite with Kyle Shanahan.

My interest in the NFL has been waning over the past 5 years or so. I'm not out on the street protesting over CTE and NFL ownership dicking over former players, but at this point I'm pretty sure its had a subconscious impact on my enjoyment of football and it seems like it's only going to diminish further as more time goes on and the NFL desperately keeps trying to cover it all up.

In a civil suit, it only has to be probable that you did it. You don't have to proof beyond a reasonable doubt.

A rookie out of an online college could have argued OJs guilt successfully in a civil court.

Been thinking about getting into longboarding. Been thinking about making a foldup longboard.

I am a bit confused about the different kinds. Some are longer, some are shorter, some are closer to the ground than others. What kind do I need?

I'll basically use it for commuting/getting in and out of town etc. In the UK that means starting down a pavement, stopping to cross that little bit of road, starting down the next pavement etc. And also, general longboarding thread.
