I view racing more as a game than a sport, it requires strategy and luck and very little, if any, athletic ability. You can't be a fat slob because you'd slow your vehicle down and you'd likely suffer constant dehydration and exhaustion during races due to the immense heat in the vehicle staying constant for such a prolonged period of time. The strategy lies in when to draft, when to pass and when to pit while the luck is relying on your opponents to not fuck up and wreck you and also for them to pit or attempt to pass at the wrong time so you can take advantage of it, It's no more of a sport than Poker or Chess, but there will always be yahoos that will fight you to their dying breath to try and convince you otherwise.
