Football (Soccer) Where to get started? by Emma Brennertock - Sat, 27 Apr 2013 17:03:56 EST ID:yrfYQyny No.20458 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

Ok so I have the sudden urge after watching my local European football club team to get into the sport after previously not watching it all.

Where do I start? What should I know? Where can I watch it online?
Thanks football fans!

Main thing to understand about the political/religious stuff is that most European and Latin American soccer clubs are closer to American college/high school sports teams than professional franchises in terms of history/identity. Big cities will often have multiple teams representing different religions or levels of society.

wtf am I reading

seriously though, just watch fun matches instead of 'supporting' some team based on some random notion

I'm the guy with the long-winded posts lol.

I'm not a fan of English football, but there's a lot to look forward to next season.

Man Utd- no Fergie! How will they react? I can't even imagine anyone else in the dugout for them.

Chelsea- horrible club, but they have to be early favourites for the league next season. Only a couple of players away, and with Mourinho back they will probably go far. If he returns that is.

Elsewhere Bayern have got Pep Guardiola. Can they establish themselves as the dominant force in European football for the next few years? Barca got destroyed by bayern, they surely have to make some big signings.

It's not a bad time to take an interest.

Also we already have a fantasy baseball league here but I'm cool with there being more than one. We had more than one football league too.

Having questioned some of Fergie's team choices this season, I question his choice in Moyes. Moyes doesn't have winning pedigree. Next will be a nervous season I don't look forward to.

That's a shit bet, Mayweather isn't anywhere near as beloved as De La Hoya and Foreman were when they retired. He's also filthy rich, too, so I doubt he'd even bother with endorsements or becoming a television analyst once he's retired.

I like to do the draft right after pre-season week 2. You get a good look at the starters, how productive they can be, and it's the best chance to see the 2nd and 3rd stringers that make up a Fantasy Team's depth.

Hockey players are still the most badass athletes out there, are you suggesting they've been pussified?

As a goalie I can't imagine playing back in those days. I've taken 80-90mph pucks to the mask and that was bad enough.

I know everything about cricket, no seriously, I mean there is not one thing I don't know about it, the history, the players, the grounds, countries and rules. I can't even begin to tell you how many people I have pwned in my 10 years on /sp/ but let me tell you it's a lot, a hell of a lot. For all intensive purposes I should just hold back some of this mountain of knowledge I possess, my mind is just a powerhouse of cricket facts and figures, but what can I say I like to educate my fellow forumgoers, surely you've all seen me relentlessly push /cric/ on /sport/ for years now and seen my superior knowledge of the game and seen my sharp wit and clever use of greentxt at play. Surely you have seen me post picture after picture of stats and facts that prove how GOAT Australia, Sydney, cricket and myself are, an it's all been for you fellow brothers, I know you all respect me an have huge amounts of admiration for me and my posting abilities, as a great man once said, I'm responsible for 90% of sports posts on /sport/, well I said it but you know it's true anyway. I'd just like you also to know I'd appreciate it if you asked my permission when starting a thread about cricket, Olympics, any Australian generals or anything really, to be safe just run everything though me as I am the man around here, Please could you also tell all the new trips that I am the example they must live up to an to follow my lead of informative and interesting posting skills, well I'm off to watch some LazyTown.....

What are some predictions for who goes where, which teams you think will win or lose on the market, and what about predictions for the draft and next season.

I'm a Bruins fan, but they've been playing so terribly that you're expected to win and losing will be completely humiliating.
So what's everyone's sports vice? I personally get shitfaced for sports; if I get stimmed I get way too pumped or pissed and if I get doped up I miss half of the game because I'm nodding off. Is there any better drug to do?
