I'm 30 and I looked in the mirror today and realised I dress exactly like Hank Hill.

Do you think I can pull this look off?

I'm pretty similar to the second on the left

What Doris says is correct.
I have little to no ass but I wear my jeans low (not stupidly low, but the top of my jeans are just off my hips) and nobody notices. In fact I've surprised two people so far after they went to slap my ass and sort of went further than they expected haha.

Also do squats/lunges if you want to build it up. It's working for me so far.

Well it's not really my ass by itself, it's also fat legs. At least larger pants hide the fat, or rather, they hide its shape. Fitting pants shows your fatness to the world. Isn't that worse?

Oh I didn't realise you were overweight too, I'm sorry.
Always wear clothes that fit. You will look 10x better in good fitted jeans (not too baggy, not too tight, THE CORRECT LENGTH) even if you are 300 pounds overweight, than someone wearing clothes that are too baggy/tight.

Nobody is fooled by a fat guy wearing baggy clothes, it's just a fat guy wearing baggy clothes. If you're wearing clothes that fit people will at least think that guy can dress himself. Although the important thing is confidence, if you really can't get behind wearing more fitted clothes then stick to baggy if you can be confident in it.

I forgot to add New Balance to my PNW shoe list. Chucks, Vans, NB, hiking boots, and MEC sandals. Lots of girls wear Docs or combat boots.

What I'm seeing a lot more of aren't high end sneakers but high end boots. I'm starting to see Iron Rangers almost as much as Clarks or Blundstones.

I haven't had a new pair in like 7 years, I was considerably younger then and didn't care when I got them, I just wanted things to stop being fuzzy, but now I'd like something I'd actually wear out in public that don't look like complete shit.

I'm a pretty below average dresser, looking for some basic tips.
I'm a 20 year old woman, size 18, waist-length blonde hair, light features all around.
I've been wanting to learn how to dress myself better.
I particularly like the super feminine feel of the lolita style and want that same sort of idea but much, much, much less over the top. (Looking for girly wear that's more cute than flat out sexy.)
Any tips?

find a way to curate images you like
Tumblr, etsy, /fa/, circlejerk, pinterest whatever just pick a site and save images of all the outfits you like to a personal fashion folder.
It can be overwhelming at first while every photo taken with a decent camera looks 'good' to you, but once you're at it for a while you'll stop settling for good and can start being more discerning with what you save.

khaki, charcoal, and navy slacks/chinos
dark denim
chambray shirt
a polo or two
some blank t-shirts
a plaid shirt

Make sure everything fits well. If stuff doesn't fit well because of your build, get stuff that fits on your shoulders and then take it to a tailor and have it brought in on the torso. This will only cost about $15. For t-shirts, I have fairly broad shoulders and a small waist, though I'm a little slimmer than you, and I find American Apparel tees fit like a dream.

Thanks for all the advice, one more question, is there any way for shorts to look good? because i am in the desert and its 110 degrees out right now. i have been rotating between three pairs of basketball shorts that all look like shit and don't fit me right. are there any brands of basketball shorts that fit well and don't look like shit, or any other types of comfortable shorts that don't look good. generally i wear a random shirt with basketball shorts or blue jeans and i know it looks like shit but i go shopping and nothing seems to fit right, anyone have recommendations or stores? i usually go to zumiez or tilly's in the mall, i tried going to h&m last time but nothing fit right, i tried going to urban outfitters but nothing is made to fit on my body type. ideally i'd like to dress with comfort and lightly for the heat all the time if there's a way to combine comfort with style.

anyways, if i do get some more shorts, id go with something closer to pic releated.

also one last thing, the hotest places in the world tend to wear more clothing because the air temp is hotter then there normal body temp.

just a thought.

Shaving it all off only works for a minority of men. Most men do not look good with shaved heads.

A shaved head looks good with a medium to low forehead, very fair or very dark skin, and a tall lower face height. And a muscular body.

If you're missing most of these qualities a shaved head will make you look like a cancer patient.
Ebenezer Murdhood - Tue, 03 Jun 2014 15:41:57 EST ID:Kn6IqsXk No.58844 Ignore Report Quick Reply
I think a shaved head can work with a taller forehead too. And a few other things to add to your list of guys who can rock the bald head:
  • tall thin guys with great facial bone structure - bold cheekbones, etc.
  • burly barrel chest fat guys. Adding yet another Breaking Bad reference to this thread: Hank rocks that burly tough guy look.

Also, does anyone remember that episode of Pepper Ann where that dude she has a crush on shaves his head and his skull is all lumpy and weird and she's super turned off? Good times good times.

And keep in mind that it is possible to rock a receding hairline. I may be alone in this, but I think Walton Goggins wears it well.

Generally if it pulls back and widow's peaks, you can rock the slicked back look with a beard or just wear it as is. See: Giovanni Ribisi, Jude Law, Charles Bukowski

I'm looking for a maroon(ish) and/or olive green(ish) short-sleeve henley. Target carries this Converse thing pictured, but the Canadian locations don't carry Converse and Target.com doesn't ship to Canada. I tried American Apparel but they only have v-neck henleys and BRIGHT FUCKING RED stuff.

Any tips on where to go for something like this would be appreciated. I've googled my ass off to no avail. Under $50 would be ideal, but that's not set in stone. I'm looking for a staple that I can wear for a long time, so a good fit, quality, and the right colour supersedes price to an extent.

Just to update: working on a tip from a female friend, I found a heathered maroon long-sleeve henley at the Gap. It's not super-tight Dexter style, but not all curtainy either, which is what I was hoping for. Most of the time long sleeve henleys tend to be either skin tight or billowy, with no in between, so I'm happy with this. It's exactly the colour I wanted too.

I also found a heather charcoal short-sleeve henley at Value Village for $3.99. It's not olive like I was hoping, but it fits exactly how I want it to, a little drapey but still with a slim silhouette, very soft fabric, everything I was hoping for. It's American Eagle, but it only has a tiny embroidered eagle on the left breast, about the size of my thumbnail and the same colour as the fabric, so it is barely visible even close up.

A couple female friends also approved. I can see what you're getting at, but I think it works well with my build (broad shoulders, slender waist), and a little bit of chest hair sticks out of it when it's unbuttoned, which makes me feel macho despite being an almost-twink. I just wanted a little variety to mix in with my crewnecks.

Color affecting mood is true, there are all kinds of studies about wearing red, etc etc but I was more looking for a little variety. I doubt I'll wear a henley under a buttondown. Buttons under buttons around my collar does not sound like it would look or feel good.

I experimented with cross dressing a couple years ago and recently have been wanting to get back into it. I'm pretty tall and while I'm no he-man, I do not have a feminine body. Fully crossdressing looks a bit awkward with my build so I was wondering what kind of outfits would be a good mix of feminine and masculine. I know it's not exactly trendy now a days, but I really like the look of skirts over jeans.

Male here; these are some blogs I follow that post lots of pictures of girls in boyish clothing. I guess what I'm saying is, your best bet is dressing like girls that dress like boys (being a boy). I'll give you some do's and don'ts

*Oversized t-shirts and sweaters
*Oversized shirts in very drapey fabric, tuck the front in just a little bit and leave the rest out
*Skin-tight jeans, faded and/or ripped (bonus points for raw hems)
*Relaxed trousers (cropped very high and tapered)
*Skinny belts
*Large and/or floppy hats
*Totes and portfolios/clutches
*Slip on shoes and anything with a thick sole

This could definitely work. I'd also second everything >>58799 said. Long tees are a great idea, especially if you like the "dress over jeans" look. A long, fitted t-shirt with a deep U-neck over some super skinny jeans rolled up quite high on your calves with slip-on shoes and a messenger bag would be good. They're all "masculine" items, but worn in a more feminine cut. If you don't have slip-ons, then plimsolls with no socks would work just fine.

Ankle jewellery might also be something to look into. Ear piecings as well, maybe?
