So I'm on propranalol, a beta blocker. Is it more dangerous to skip a few days while using or just keep taking it while doing meth? I asked my doctor and he had no idea. I'm worried about unopposed alpha stimulation.

Any of you ever use propranalol successfully while on stims without getting heart problems?

I take this shit for anxiety, not a heart problem. I'm on 40mg. I've tried both ways. With propranalol I have a much reduced comedown period, it seems to help. Without it my heart rate skyrockets during the comedown, i'm guessing from withdrawal.

Not using is not an option for my right now, I love it too much. I used for awhile on it before I even found out about possible interactions and nothing bad happened. I doubt it even matters. I'm probably just paranoid.

Used to take propranolol and dexamphetamine daily for a few years. Never had a problem. Were prescribed by multiple doctors as well, so they obviously didn't see anything wrong with the combo.

It's contraindicated and in high doses can be dangerous, but most literature focuses on theoretical issues while empirical evidence is comparatively lacking. With supervision combining a rx stim dosage with a BB is relatively safe but with recreational dosages it is hard to say, and in your case the stim usage isn't supervised.

I know within certain demographics this is a definite no, as the risk of tachycardia is too high, but within that group both alpha and beta blockers are considered "high risk", mind you I dont remember the last time i saw an alpha rxd.

Literature and guidelines generally oppose this, although evidence is mixed in practice iirc. Last time I had to do a lit review on a related topic involving risks associated with beta blockers it was a very different context and demographic, so grain of salt.

Personally, i wouldn't use stims at a recreational dosage. Especially not meth (potency and alpha-andregenic stimulation)

I can say with confidence though, that as your age increases the risk of this combination increases rapidly.

Alright, I'll just stop taking it. My inpatient doc a few months ago told me "you can just stop the propranalol if you want, you don't really need it ".

Doesnt it matter if it's an alpha or a beta blocker? I remember something like propranolol+stim is no bueno, but clonidine isn't as bad because of something like it lowers BP whilst also being a vascodilator or something, whereas Propranolol lowers BP but doesn't fix the vasoconstriction of stims?

I'm pretty sure I totally butchered this and I can't even remember which is an alpha and which is a beta. All I remember is clonidine > propranolol for stims, and that's why I recently switched over.

Update: I need to get a BP machine to be sure of the risks, but quitting propranalol and doing a lot of meth hasn't killed me yet.

My heart beat is super fucking slow on meth right now. I'm kind of worried it means I'm having arrythmia. But I don't want to go to the hospital for meth again.
