Google (Youtube) account without phone number. by PhoebeWublinglick.dat - Mon, 12 Dec 2016 03:26:57 EST ID:wls6y3kd No.120243 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

Sup /tech/? Trying to get a Youtube account but Google are faggots and require a phone for activation.

I'm not giving them a phone tied to me because Fuck Google.

So right now I'm trying to use a VoIP program with a callcentric number I've got setup but I'm having a hardtime using several different VoIP programs for Linux all with no luck. Linphone was promising but times out trying to verify with callcentric.

Apparently the other way I've found is by using some kind of android phone emulation but I haven't researched into that yet.

The whole 13 years old age verification doesn't seem to work anymore and since payphones have vanished, the task is a bitch.

Barring asking some random person for their phone number or possibly getting a verification code over an unattended phone somewhere, the only thing I know to do is use a burner phone but I've heard from some that these things have really been tightened down on as of the past few years and I know from a few attempted uses of those Visa sort of gift cards but are actually sort of debit cards deals, they want SSNs/Real Names/Addresses etc.

Anyone care to help? I also legit have no real phone in real life so I can only work from desktop/laptop. I'm tempted to just do it the sneaky way and find a landline someone isn't using and get the verification code voiced to that phone, I can't help but assume it is automated. Or maybe I'll pay a Paki at the gas station 20 dollars to use his phone for 5 minutes because I'm oh so poor :'(

There is a sub-leddit for the express purpose of having someone else activate your account. You're going to want a reliable phone number for authentication though if you're interested in long-term anonymity. There are also multiple services where you can rent a phone number with BTC. I would assume that spammers wouldn't bother with these and therefore they won't be blocked.

I had been able to enter a random number from a phone block from local cell providers and have an account created when things started really changing. As well simply use an old email accnt without any issues

However, I assume as many as a few weeks has passed they need "real-time" human verification,

Read well what google does with info today. I mean, every post, whatever. User agreement, if not any other read this one. It's freaking bad news kitty on what they claim they 'will' collect.
--
My notion is they are not using the scheme in all regions in the world to signup. As in not actually requiring a real time verification, but simply a number that is from a real block of numbers in the region that they likely would not call. May even have option, no cell phone.

Use a prox of the same region, connect to say google asia (specific regions) Use a web translator if wanted, needed to sign up.
Make sure pox does not forward IP address. Use to + web proxy, even web translators have been used to not forward ip addys.

Ameail providers, openmailbox.org, needs javascript for web based email. Yandex mail is decent.

Thunderbird an email client asked if they could have info 'all info' related to gmail

Eeek, don't worry, they will get that ironed out eventually when declining google terms.

Noticed a hard drive was overheating... Noticed fans be all clogged and failing... Bought a new case.

Moved hardware into new case... Rig only boots to the mobo interface...
Selecting the correct drive to boot from does nothing, still won't boot...

Fairly sure the problem is something MBR related. Use "Boot-Repair-Disk" to try fixing the MBR.
And now all I get is "A disk read error occurred"...

(4) The old drives... The hard drive graveyard...

I've kept them for now. Refuse to accept this retarded situation just yet.
Ubuntu is fine with them, why is Windows such a little bitch?
2 x 2tb HDD
3 x 1tb HDD
1 x 60gb SSD
1 x 120gb SSD
( Would love to salvage any/all drives... Suggestions accepted...
------------
Should work. Under disk managment, diskmgmt.msc (run as admin.) if you can see the target drive from the working win install assign it a drive letter. If needed, properties and search for drivers automatically online. Format the drives
if needed, would do it anyway just for kicks.

This should get all the drives working, so can be used any way you like without issues. The drive letter will not clash with others of the same assigned drive letter. Windows would just assign another drive letter.

** Final update **
So tonight 2 of the 7 hard drives which refused to work no matter what previously, have mysteriously started working again, with no special trickery from me at all. Exact same drives, exact same sata cords and mobo ports, exact same OS and exact same bios settings, but today? Two decided to switch on finally... What the actual fuck... This is both fantastic and infuriating news...

ANYWAYS. With a working Windows install on the new SSD, saved and working copies of server files on the new 3tb HDD, and miraculously two of the old drives deciding to join the party, I call this a smashing recovery success.

Thanks so much to everybody who has contributed. I fucking love this website. I promised noods, and I fully plan to deliver. Please see below a link to a thread on /sa/ with several noods uploaded of my mrs, mostly historical but a few from tonight with timestamp to show it's legit :) enjoy!

How much information can someone get from this traffic. Say I log into circlejerk and its my secret gaysex clearweb circlejerk, how much can they get? In the same token if they de-anonymize the traffic of a onion site that I use how much information can they get.

That's not really it. The tor exit node does not forward the originating request addresses..
In the clear, or otherwise. Hence it is 'considered' anonymous.

End to end encryption is considered perfect security. But an exit node it's-self can tell what requested destinations are being asked for. As the last hop the padding (layers of encryption has ended.) The final hop needs to be able to reach the requested destination with a resolved IP address. The connection is still encrypted, but the exit node needs to know where the final request is to be sent to. DNS requests are done at or from the exit node by default as remember, and could be sent in the clear unencrypted to their isps dns lookup, a public dns resolver as well.
If it is onion sites, it still needs to resolve site addresses. SO i don't know how they are resolved by default, local
server or remote server such as the ISPs dns servers.

Although the requested stream to the final destination would remain encrypted to it's ssl aware sitte.

>For clear web stuff that means a VPN is better, I guess?

No, They may keep logs, they may leak your dns. It is an encrypted connection to the VPN server and then in the clear. So monitoring outgoing traffic from a VPN,
one could monitor incoming traffic as well. Could see basically every
site you visit that isn't encrypted, even then I think they could see your
queries coming out from the VPN server.

>How much information can someone get from this traffic. Say I log into circlejerk and its my secret
>gaysex clearweb circlejerk, how much can they get?

Basically a lot. Surely you passphrase would be encrypted when you login. Username, If it's not encrypted
then it's in the clear to read.

I guess I'm a bit old now, and a bit behind the curve

can mobile devices (tablets, smartphones)really take over true desktop or laptop PC's? sure you can e-mail, watch youtube, or google stuff, but can you do real work on them?
like write essays, code, or run a server? will everything be run on the cloud eventually, relinquishing old desktop PC's to vintage hobbyists?

I'm asking because I feel all my knowledge of PC's (from the useless like IRQ's and DMA's or registry tweaks to the more generic troubleshooting) is bound to become useless. devices seem to become simpler nowadays, and so cheap to the point of being discardable (sometimes it's cheaper to buy a new one than fix it). on the other hands I see people not understanding url's, executables, navigating file systems, or copy and paste and I wonder if that basic knowledge is filled in elementary education.

sorry for the incoherent thoughts. feel free to fill me in as to what I'm missing since windows XP and the WIMP (windows icons mouse pointer) interface aren't mainstream anymore

I feel like phone/tablet is still a consumer machine, and PC/laptop is still a production machine. I think the whole post-PC idea is because most people use computers for consumption, so most people are moving to those platforms.

Tablet will probably eventually move more toward production as kids who grow up tinkering with them change the platform, but we're not there yet.

I doubt it. Keyboard and Mouse plus a screen I don't have to hold is still far more efficient than tablets or handheld shit. Every new gadget and trinket I've used that isn't a laptop but is "mobile" always has tons of issues freezing up, not tracking my inputs, being horribly inefficient in layout and optimization etc.

Typing alone makes me stick with a desktop/laptop. Fuck typing on a touchscreen or with microscopic buttons like a blackberry. Carrying around a keyboard is even more retarded. It is a long ways off.

I want to wipe it -> convert to MBR -> install windows 7.
How can I "clone" the setup such I preserve whatever the 100,100,__,20G,7G partitions are without cloning the middle main OS partition? I want to somehow be able to quickly revert back to that factory setup whenever I need to.

In win 7 there is 'create a system image', in backup and restore. If you have a external drive you can create a backup image. It should? backup your repair partition as well. It works in 7 well enough. Win 10 has PCmover Express? As well there is a win program intended to move a system with all it's programs to a new computer, as well multiple computers with all data put on there intact. I forget but the same concept same method that pc manufacturers use to put their crap on consumers computers.

UBCD has disk cloning programs, there is macrium reflect. Manufacturers windows systems suck, restore partitions suck unless you somehow make it yourself.

I would just wipe the drive and put 7 on there on it's own partition, make a new partition for data and point torrents etc to, so if windows fails you can just reinstall it.

Win10 you can surely get a clean copy and likely have a key to restore/reinstall it if wanted?

Dual boot, win7 first, 10 second if wanted.

do you have the windows 7 RTM (no service pack) or the windows 7 SP1 DVD?

the latter will allow you to boot UEFI, the former not

if you need the DVD with SP1, you can download it from Microsoft, assuming you have a legit, non-OEM key
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7

other things you can try is update the BIOS if you have an old laptop

You should take a full backup of the entire HDD, or at least the recovery partitions. Pull the disk and back it up with another OS that can read GPT (Windows 8, 10). Then go nuts. UEFI needs to be disabled for Windows 7.

Yea, seek the in place upgrade, easy transfer, you can make an install dvd that search deployable windows installs. Tread lightly. Maybe test this if you have extra computers. Make the install fail and see if you can restore it in a few different manners, If you need a 7 just say the word.

Do create an image if anything first. There are utilities for hard drives to test repair. Rescue cds may have what you need. The manufacturer website support should offer programs to test thier hard drives.

PS3 Slim repair by MollyWepperfield.dic - Mon, 05 Dec 2016 20:13:45 EST ID:Bl6hjdK4 No.120199 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

So I typically don't work on a lot of hardware, but I have an old PS3 Slim that's been lying around for a few years that I decided I wanted to repair. It was overheating and it wasn't reading discs. So the main things I focused on were swapping the bluray drive, replacing the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU, and giving it all a pretty thorough cleaning.

The problem is I ordered too little thermal paste. I ordered a gram of it and some bozo on amazon said it would be enough for 2-3 applications, but from what I could see (using the pea method) it was barely a little over enough for 1 application, so I had to remove about half of it from my initial drop on the CPU and dropped it on the GPU.

Now, I know I didn't use quite enough, but aside from overheating, can too little thermal paste cause any other problems? Will it be OK to use the console until I can buy some more?

When I put everything back together and tested it, everything seemed to be working fine, until I nudged the console a bit and it froze. I managed to replicate this freeze a number of times. I realized I probably didn't tighten the clamps on the heatsink enough, so I tore it back apart and tightened them. Lo and behold, it doesn't freeze when moved now... At least not without a lot of force behind it.

I realize this is probably the CPU or GPU disconnecting itself from the mobo and moving around a bit more than it should. Should I tighten the clamps even further? I really don't wanna strip it and they seem plenty tight already, but if this could potentially eliminate the problem I'd be willing to try it. I realize more thermal paste would fill the gap even further, because like I said I know I didn't use enough, so I definitely plan on ordering some more.

I've also been thinking about reflowing the motherboard to see if this would eliminate the freezing completely, but I'd have to wait until I got more thermal paste to do this.

So yeah, just seeing if anyone here has any advice or experience with PS3 repairs. I'd really like to get this thing completely functional again but I'm a little worried that the freezing may be a prolonged death sentence, at least without going into rebal…

>I ordered a gram of it and some bozo on amazon said it would be enough for 2-3 applications, but from what I could see (using the pea method) it was barely a little over enough for 1 application
The amount for an application depends on the size of the die under the IHS. You should probably watch videos of what pros are doing for your particular chips. Also, FYI, the pea method is about the shape, not the size.

>Now, I know I didn't use quite enough, but aside from overheating, can too little thermal paste cause any other problems? Will it be OK to use the console until I can buy some more?
You can count on the system to shut down to prevent damage, but if you think it's doing this then leave it be.

I can see a list of peers, everything, but hardly any downloading. It's like they are just refusing to work at first then suddenly deciding to work. Wierd AF

WTF

What does this have to do with a tracker? Why would an ISP block the tracker, which is costing them nothing, but not the torrent traffic? Did you know your torrent client has a debug logger that you could be looking at?

Because blocking popular trackers would be easy as fuck?

They are not blocking the tracker completely, just certain packets coming from the tracker site. The "successful handshakes" so to speak. I think there is some type of quota or throttle hence why only some are allowed to come through.

...Or so it would seem

I have seen it more often resuming but also starting. It's just the way it is.
Maybe connecting to peers across many networks and countries could
possibly take some times to become established I would assume.

I want to be a self-sufficient person, capable of protecting myself and others, as well as attacking certain figures if necessary, which dictates the decision to become proficient at this sort of thing.

I already know what PLs to learn (Python, Cs, php, maybe js) and have already started, but what are the other rerequisites? What should I also be studying?

In a roundabout way, that's better than most advice on the subject.
