Weird drive speeds? by GrahamDibblewater.maq - Sun, 30 Dec 2018 18:08:39 EST ID:Qx3lfgFz No.122196 Ignore Report Quick Reply

Just wondering if something is fucky here or if it's as should be.

Have two loose drives,
Disk A: old-ish 465GB 3.5 inch
Disk B: semi-recent 320GB 2.5 inch.
Disk internal, 2TB

Both A and B plugged into a USB 3 drive dock thingy, plugged in one at a time with nothing else running other than transfer.
Writing to B from C is at about 90MB/s, while writing to C from A is at only 40MB/s, same types of files too (both format and sizes). Shouldn't reading from the external and writing to the internal be at least as fast?

Checked the reverse, writing from A to C is at 60MB/s.
I don't grok.

Try a real benchmark. At a minimum you want to know about random and sequential read and write speeds of one drive independent of any other drives.
