As is in the picture, why or what was the factors that made the construction go the loop rather than linear roadway?

either the height difference was too great for such a short length so they needed a more gradual angle so they stretched it out with the loop, or its for safety so people dont go rocketing from an expressway onto a slower speed street, so they slow down to execute the loop turn

yeah, I think its for trucks to trucks slow down, so they don't run over all those people standing at the bottom of the bridge. there's also room to run another roadway under there.
