Why is my Smok leaking by Hamilton Snodfuck - Tue, 16 May 2017 18:56:18 EST ID:jsoa6wla No.3509 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

I've had a Smok tank for about 3 months and yesterday the thing decides it doesn't want to hold my vape juice in it anymore. I took the whole thing apart, lubed the rings, changed the coil, tightened everything and it's still draining everything out what do I do?

My tfv8 leaked from what looked like the bottom airflow. I thought it was the screw in coil I got but it wasn't, it was the bottom o-ring. Those o-rings are too big so even the tiniest nicks give way to leaking. Try changing all the o-rings, it worked for me.

Is it dangerous to smoke this oil directly? If so can I filter this shit with some alcohol or something?

Anyone ever tried this desperate move?

What device do you have? Try googling for repair tutorials or something relevant off youtube.

Though technically that's the whole principle of vaping i.e. heating the oil, you must be careful not to exceed a certain temperature lest you produce toxic chemicals in your vape (e.g. formaldehyde) due to extreme temperatures.

Try to heat it up intermittently with a lighter, though again, I'm not sure what temperature a lighter would achieve in whatever given time which may or may not be safe to vape at.

Yes, I order vegetable glycerin, nicotine concentrate, and flavorings separately and mix them together on a scale into empty bottles. It takes a bit of preliminary reading, learning, gear, calculation, and patience yet it's not really difficult. Altogether I find it worthwhile in customizability, control over ingredients, and definitely cost. I've mixed about 4.0L in total since I started last year.

What does this mean? they didn't turn on? Hard to believe they didn't do anything if you packed them fully and turned it to highest temp but oh well

Get a vapcap if you want a cheap vaporiser that works good, no temperature contorl but you get dense vapour that will definitely work. they're like $30 plus you have to buy a torch

So I have been vaping for maybe a month or two very heavily. I blow large clouds and shit, but now when I take a puff from a real cigarette, the exhaled smoke seems to be diminished? What could be happening here? are my lungs fucked up? maybe the vaping has increased the volume of lungs so when inhaling real cigarette smoke, it is absorbed more, thus the seemingly decreased exhaled smoke?

When you take a puff from a real cigarette, is the exhaled smoke volume for you different ever since you started vaping?

First month into vaping I stopped smoking, one month later my mod died (fuck smok) I went back to smoking until I got a new one. I really didn't notice a difference in exhaled volume to be honest. Main thing that got me was I had my sense of taste back, and I was somewhat annoyed by my loss of taste I had during that week I was smoking. Maybe you're inhaling it differently can't really say.

I had my first experience with vape pens with a counterfeit G pen and remember being dissapointed so I saved a few bucks and got myself pic related with a -legal- distributor.

I know herbal vaping isnt really the most efficient but I definitely can't get high out of this. Am I doing something wrong? I grind my herb real good, load (but dont overpack) and then start vaping oin the medium setting.

I get the taste and somewhat of a head rush but definitely don't get high at all....its just a mild somewhat lame high that makes me feel like im just wasting my weed away.

Yes, like the Triton, I remember the Hell's Gate. The mech included two Yep RDAs. A lot of people hated both the concept and the actual device. Best part is Teslacigs just dropped a similar unregulated box but the device looks straight retarded since the cells are in series but the atties in parallel plus Tesla recommends like a 0.10 or 0.20 build lol

You're lucky that's a parallel box first off. I hope you also know ohms law, battery information in terms of how any amps you can draw off of your cells without venting or thermal runaway becoming an issue. Also I saw you did your first build on this and I want to say you're lucky you haven't hurt yourself yet.

What batteries do you have in there, are you running one or two, and what is the specs of that build (wire type, gauge, diameter of what you wrapped it around and how many wraps)? You could be in for some serious shit if you have some shitty efests or other rewraps in there that can't handle the amp load of your build, which is why unregulated devices require some homework to have been done before using one or else you are risking a disaster.

Looks like you put two 22ga kanthal (I hope at least) 6 wraps at what looks like 3mm ID which ohms out to 0.2. Assuming your batteries are somewhat reputable (aka Samsung, Sony, LG, Sanyo pretty much), you should be okay at 0.2 ohms assuming you know when to change your batteries and don't discharge below 3.7v or so (technically you can go lower I believe but the performance is going to suck also it's not really the point of this).

That build though if I guessed it right by the pictures is going to pull between 19-21 amps though, so if youre using 10 amp batteries just get a regulated device and read about how to use unregulated mods safely. This is how people end up on the news and what leads to more of the government wanting to regulate vaping heavily.

To be honest nobody should really be using unregulated (mechanical or with a mosfet etc) devices until they do battery research, check their ohms on a device and are well versed in the other bits of knowledge you need to use these devices safely and not to worry about anything catastrophic happening. Also make sure for the love of god if you do keep using it to do the research and at the very least get good batteries (dont trust wrappers, for an unregulated box like that LG HB2s or HB6s are probably the safest bet since 30 amp rated, although you can use Sony VTC5As and be fine at 25a rated cdr, among others but it varies on the build and resistance). These …

This guys knows his shit. Battery quality/type and the coil resistance they can deal with are absolutely essential to have full knowledge of. For mechanical mods imo you should have at least a year or two of vaping under your belt or just an quick and dirty rundown of how they're supposed to work and what you should take into consideration when using one. Otherwise it can go very wrong very fast. Think I remember reading that coils on Hell's gate shouldn't be below 0.3-0.2.

Looks good tho and it's a steal for $40 along with the rest.

One more cautionary note: DO NOT connect the batteries in the mod incorrectly. Parallel mechanicals short cells together in function, including while properly done. If the orientation is incorrect, the batteries will discharge into one another with near zero resistance. That can very very very quickly go bad in the form of venting and, at worst, explosion.

Yeah vaping is a bit different than bong hits depending on how high your wattage is and if it's adjustable. If it's high wattage you need to pace yourself. Take a long drag with a a fully open airvent, once it starts to irritate your lung, stop pressing the button but continue with the drag to cool your throat for a second or two, then press again (repeat the last two as needed) until the lung is full.

Although if you have a bad/shit coil (how long have you been vaping on the same coil?) you might need to replace it. Or if you have high nicotine concentration nicotine, tone it down a bit/dilute it etc.

Anyone know where to start with building coils?
The only things I have currently are two very small screwdrivers, some 24g Ni200, and the RDA in the picture.
I've seen people building coils before, and I've always been fascinated by it. I have cotton already as well.
Judging from what I've seen, the only things I'm missing are an ohms meter, and ceramic-tipped tweezers (or something similar)
Is there any way to build coils without those if you've never done it before?

Ni200 (nickel) is TC-only wire so you need a regulated TC mod, otherwise you run the risk of overheating and melting wire. Ceramic tweezers aren't really necessary for Ni200 for the same reason that the wire shouldn't be dry fired (melting again). Ni200 is also super low resistance wire and I figure using 24g will be a bitch to get to a reasonable resistance.

If you have a regulated mod (like one that'll do TC) then you most likely don't need need a separate meter since the mod will display the info on the screen. Nevertheless I think having a meter is a good idea.

I recommend starting out with Kanthal A-1, Nichrome 80, or SS316L wire; 26g is relatively flexible for function since you can wrap dual parallels if you want lower resistance or do a single coil for higher resistance, plain dual coils in between. Kanthal and Nichrome are usually only power mode but SS316L is compatible with both power and TC modes for the most part.

I started with 26g and 28g Kanthal A-1 in a RDA on a single-cell mechanical tube mod way back. I needed the meter since I had no other way to read resistance. I used organic cotton balls from a pharmacy. I already had scissors to cut the cotton, a precision screwdriver set for coil wraps of varying diameters, metal tweezers to pinch the coils while the coils were hot (without firing the mod simultaneously of course), and (clean) nail clippers to cut wire.

24, 26, 28ga Kanthal A1 is a good place to start. If you don't have an ohms reader use a regulated device (one with a chip that shows resistance) to check on, ceramic tweezers aren't necessary but sure make it a lot easier since you can fire and pinch coils at the same time, with metal you will cause a short doing this).

Make sure you know the diameter of what you will be winding it around (3mm screwdriver is a good starter diameter I feel, easy to wick and not too big or small coils). Also don't let the coils touch the posts, cap or anything metal so it doesn't cause a short. Youtube has some good tutorials.

You can use a regulated device to check your ohms on though, and metal tweezers to pinch but be CERTAIN not to fire the device while you have metal tweezers touching your coils as this will cause a short and you will have a bad time. I used to pulse mine then make sure my hand was far away from the button to not fire it and squeeze the coils when they were still warm when I didn't have ceramic tweezers. It's not ideal but it's possible, read more on it so you don't make a stupid avoidable mistake.

tldr: have a regulated device to check your ohms on, buy kanthal a1 (24,26,28 if you only can get one 26 is a good start), and id highly suggest spending the 10$ or less on decent ceramic tweezers as well as flush wire snips to clip your leads (I used nail clippers for a while then once I got snips I wondered why I didn't spend the extra 5$ or so for the snips). Also watch a lot of youtube tutorials.
