vape too juicy, juice in back of throat every hit. by Edwin Gemmlepock - Mon, 25 Jan 2016 16:53:53 EST ID:vwP3jCxw No.1734 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

Hey yal, So I've got a k-box mini and everything was wonderful for about two weeks, quit smoking with no pain whatsoever. But as of yesterday I cannot stop getting way too "juicy" hoots, its like a drop of e-juice builds up on the back of my throat every hoot..? The only way this doesnt happen is if I take very small unsatisfying drags.

Ive changed my atomizer thing, and switched juices (both are fruity juices tho), also tried tons of different wattages.

My question is am i supposed to "wick" my atomizer with the cotton it came with? The guy i bought it from said the cotton was for cleaning... but i oppen the pamphlet and it shows very undescriptive pictures of "wicking" the two holes, is this why excess juice is coming up? I tried wicking it once but then no juice got through and it just tasted like i ran out of juice, dry and burnt.

Sorry for being a noob any answer is awesome thanks!

Me again, one more thing. Is it possible that I'm just vaping at too low of a wattage? I noticed it was only set to about 30W. I'm using at at over 40 W now and it seems to be better.

You could've burnt the coil which in that case id recommend picking up a new one.

Yeah thank you, I'm pretty sure I blew out my coil somehow. I swapped out for the 0.15 ohm nickel coil and now it works beautifully.

Are you using a nickel coil on a subbox mini? Cause those aren't temperature controlled. Nickel isn't safe to use on non tempcontrolled setups.

Nah, its the new version, the topbox. It does have a temp control setting, and automatically detects when the Ni coil is used.

I'm wondering if I open up one of those throw away cartridges and shove a little dab hit down onto the coil will it be effective to hit?

Assuming I can shove a hit down onto the coil that is. I'm not really worried about how frustrating that will be, just that I can hit it.

It might not work the best, but I can't think of any reason it wouldn't work.

This, except don't get a mechanical mod unless you have a specific reason too. Regulated mods are way safer than mechs, and they're so cheap nowadays there's not much point in using a mech.

I've heard some good reviews and i've heard some horror stories about isticks setting on fire and misfiring so I hope this is a good experiance I couldn't afford a subbox and it's my first real vape.

Ugh. I found out how. Just turn it off, then hold the arrows like you would to lock the VW/VV settings. That'll swap the screen's direction.

It feels weird now, because I'm holding it backwards compared to how I have been, but I'll get used to it I guess. Atleast I can hold it in my right hand and see the screen now lol.

Eh, I'll figure it out.

I've dropped my 30W iStick several times, didn't even scratch. I've only had to tighten the screws on it once, too--I have no complaints about any of the iSticks, eleaf is a very good budget-brand.

I wouldn't go out and buy a fancy atomizer for it though, just one of aspire's mid-range-pricepoint tanks or something.

12 hours holy shit, how many watts do you vape at?

I opted to get a model that took 18650's knowing that I might not have. I don't know though I'd still rather replace a battery than the mod when the battery goes to shit.

damn that sounds pretty good though I might have to get one.

I vape at 35-45 watts, and I vape all day every day. I mean like... 4-5 hits a minute NONSTOP unless I'm in class or whatever. I've stepped all the way down to 1.5mg nicotine and I can't even tell the difference from 6mg because I'm hitting the thing so much anyway.

Shit so far my 50w lasts at least 10h~ (though I've never really timed it out, so it's an estimate really) without needing to be charged, @25-35W.
I can easily go higher/lower but it'd drop/raise a couple hours on my estimate.

But yeah, I understand the feeling of wanting to only replace a battery instead of the entire mod, when it inevitably craps out. But I suppose that's the way shit goes...
Pros: Long battery life, Fairly cheap price;
Cons: Won't last as long as some other mods, Can have manufacturing issues.

They're decent imo.

I'e gone through about 3 of the mini iSticks, two of which the charging port shorted out and one where the threads stripped.
I'm running an iStick 30w now and I love it, but I still use one of the eleaf 510-eGo adapters so I don't chance stripping the threads on the actual mod itself.

How are you damaging your screen bruh?

Fixed that for you.

A friend of mine dropped his on the pavement one too many times and the screen went out. Took it apart and it turns out the cable for the screen isn't epoxied very well so it becomes disconnected easily with some force, at which point the connector is usually broken and the screen has to be replaced. The unit continued to work fine but wattage was a guessing game without the screen.

To answer your question, yes there are. I had an original Subtank and it leaked out over half the juice I put in it I swear to god. Thankfully I was using mech mods and boxes hadn't really caught on yet so there weren't really any electronics to damage but it was a huge pain in my ass.

After I gave up the Sub I got a Herakles which has .2 ohm coil options and is good up to 100 Watts if not more. Never once in a year of having it have I seen it leak like the subtank. If I leave it on its' side for a few days on end, sure, it'll leak but never in proper vaping circumstances has it.

My current tank, the TFV4 doesn't leak at all. It has a top-fill system and so many coil options I don't even know how many there are. They've got nickel, claptons for taste, and ultra-low ohm ones for the cloud chasers. It's an excellent overall investment and the most versatile tank I have ever seen. I recommend either but know the Herakles V1 (they did release a much improved V2) has about 1/3 the airflow of my TFV4 which is huge to me. Apparently the V2 rectifies this though so if you go with it, that should not be an issue.

I actually have the exact same setup as the OP (just got it rather recently actually, since my local B&M had some stuff on sale) and I haven't really had any issues. But I've also not had it very long. But my tank doesn't leak really at all, and I can fix the bubbling issue pretty fast after refilling.

If anyone is worried about a charger short, (which is a real concern if your tank is leaking) I suggest that you purchase a rubber charging port cover. That should prevent the most obvious cause of any potential shorts. You can easily find em on Amazon for fairly cheap. I'll leave a link at the bottom. But simply using a port cover when you're using the device can prevent anything from getting inside, and damaging the pins, and I highly recommend it.

If you're worried about the device being too flimsy and you happen to have butterfingers, you can always purchase a protective case for it. They do make em specifically for the iStick series after all. (Once again, you can find them on amazon).

They may not be the most hearty of devices from what I can tell, but remember that you can always attempt to improve them, and for the price, that's not so bad. Same goes for the Subtank.

But honestly, I guess I'm not the best person to ask. I'm not super experienced when it comes to box mods or tanks. I just know that protecting your device is a better investment than purchasing another one. =)

This board came along at just the right time. I recently had a go of pic related and was really really impressed. Previously I thought only top end marijuana vaporizers were worth bothering with, and anything less than a Volcano (let alone HANDHELD) were wastes of time. But I thoroughly enjoyed pic related, and would like to get in on the portable vape action.

That said, pic related is around £150, and I'm just thinking if I'm spending this much on one of these things, what's an extra £50 or so. Does anyone here have any personal experiences with portable vapes for under £200 (around $300) that they would recommend? One thing I want to be aware about is shelling out for one of these things and then a few months later them releasing a updated, superior version.
I'm gravitating towards the "Crafty" at the minute but I don't feel too strongly either way.

Mine arrived two days ago and I love it already.
The vape is comparable to my arizer EQ, big clouds for a handheld and good flavour.
Battery life has been great, had 3 sessions yesterday and it was still going by the end of it.
Gets a bit warm in your hands, and really toasts the bud (comes out almost black) but for the price I'd 100% recommend it.

TFV4 coils & temp control by Fanny Finningmadge - Mon, 11 Jan 2016 15:40:12 EST ID:KVA69uD8 No.1623 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

The TFV4 is fine and most of the coil options are pretty good. And because they are vertical coils they have enough airflow and wire surface area to use them with high wattages.
Sadly though all the nickel, titanium and steel wire coil heads really suck. They've got way less airflow and two tiny coils.

Now smok even released a 180W 4x clapton coil, pretty neat, although I don't get why they won't release any of the regular coil heads with temp control wire. Somehow I get the suspicion they're fucking with us, get us to buy all those different coils which are all less than perfect to release what we actually need several months down the line and then they have sold all the different options to everybody. Honestly I don't see any other reason for them not to do it, but what the hell.

Anyway, have 2 of the single coil RBA decks and I somewhat successfully built a vertical coil on it, but it's way too much hassle and the results are mediocre.
So I'm wondering perhaps is is possible to rebuild the TF-Q4 coils with nickel or titanium wire, possible by utilizing different parts of RBA sections and the chimney of the old coil head. Try to rebuild a TF-Q4 itself?

I never seen somebody do it, some claim they do, but all I see people to is disassemble them, not put them back together.

Help I want that 100W+ plume from a tank possible with the TFV4 but with temp control.

What's up guys.

So long story short, a friend and I got into a bit of an argument about the name of a piece of older vaping equipment, and since neither of us knows what it's called (and searching for what we believe it's called doesn't bring up any relevant pictures) I'm coming to you guys to figure out what it's really called. So any help would be great. You might help me win 5$. (Wow big money right!)

So the piece of equipment in question is the one in the photo (photo says "T-Tank" but that doesn't help us sadly), obviously. I believe it was called a Tankomizer, but my friend thinks it was called a drip-tip or something. I know it's petty, but we're not super serious about anyhow and I'm more curious than anything.

But that's what tanks used to look like when I first started vaping years ago (right around the time those screw-on pre-filled cartridges and shit like Blu started coming out, but long before there were ads or commercials) when most people I knew who tried vaping used cig-likes like Blu, etc. Or atleast that's what they first looked like, iirc. I remember it going from the cartridges to these, to the bigger tanks (with two O-ring type seals on each side of the glass) to the types of tanks they have now.

So can anyone help me out? Does anyone else remember these things?

Exactly. But what we're betting on is the actual name of such an item.

It's definitely a "drip-tip-tank" (and it's definitely ancient tech lol).

But I've posted a better pic. I personally own two kinds, one which is exactly like the pic, and a couple others which are the exact same except the black mouth-tip is the same clear plastic as the rest of the tank (the fluid is stored throughout the entire thing, there is no separation really).

The bigger part on the end is a soft rubber "storage cap" used to keep e-juice from dripping out when filled and not in use (as was common back then), since (as shown in the other pic) there is a small hole on the end cap to let juice drip onto the atomizer.

Any age-old vapers remember what the hell these things were called, officially? =)

You might be right...

But after I watched that I got the bright idea to search "tankomizer" on youtube (because I thought that's what they were called, but I hadn't thought to search Youtube until after watching that video for some reason lol) and I found another video (linked at the bottom), that suddenly made me remember WHY I thought they were called that (although I guess they were, by some people)...

I was using a Volcano e-cig at that time, and I guess that was their own product name for them, and that name spread a bit I guess? Searching Tankomizer on Youtube even yields (some pretty damn old) vids and etc. with people calling them Tankomizers, but the definition seems cloudy...

I hate to be so straightforward, but what do you think the verdict is here guys? I can't personally judge this one since I'm involved, and while it sounds like I was kind of right, I just don't know if I was "win the money" right, or if either of us really were... I mean I guess I sorta was right, but it was a proprietary name so... Idk.

Let me know what you guys think.

Or I suppose (after rewatching that video) I could be an idiot and because I skimmed material I never realized that the "tankomizer" was the type of atomizer developed for use with those tanks. That makes so much more sense actually.

So yeah, I wasn't right at all. Neither of us were. So never mind lol. No winners here I suppose.

Thanks for the info though!

Anyhow, that vid I linked is unintentionally hilarious for some reason. nb.

They had no real name. Tanks, tanks systems, tankomizers (portmanteau of tank and atomizer)... Don't search for an answer where there is none.

Vaping Pre-filled THC Cartridges and Wax by Phyllis Fennerhall - Thu, 19 Nov 2015 20:42:38 EST ID:kJqtnAfK No.1167 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

Vape virgin here.

Basically, I want to be able to vape pre-filled THC oil cartridges that I can buy from dispensaries. I ALSO want to be able to vape shatter and wax.

From what little research I've done, it seems like all I need is a battery and some kind of refillable cartridge for the shatter/wax. If possible, I would like to avoid having those glass globes. I think they look super tacky. I just want a solid colored cartridge that can vape shatter/wax that is not disposable and that I can reuse almost indefinitely, or at least have a long life before I need to replace it. As for the pre filled cartridges, I'm assuming I can twist those right on to the battery, correct?

As for the battery I was thinking to get either the eGo twist or Kanger EMOW. They're both variable voltage and in the right price range, but are they any good? Which is better and are there any better alternatives?

As for the refillable concentrate cartridge being compatible with the battery, what exactly am I looking at? Do I need to make sure the cartridge is rated to withstand a certain voltage? How do I make sure that the battery and the refillable cartridge are electrically compatable?

I have no intention of using this for e-juice or nicotine.

Thank you.

3.8v is typically what THC oil cartridges are rated at. Cheers bud

If you get the eGo twist, careful that the voltage isnt set too high before you hit because the dial is kind of loose. I've shorted out a couple cartridges because I accidently hit it at 4.8v.

OP, are you me? I was going through this last week. I decided to go with the Aspire CF because it had a nice heft, solid construction and good battery capacity.

This is the correct answer. If you're looking for a more nonsensical answer:

As I said in your thread on /weed/, you can probably just heat some VG with bud mixed in and then strain out the bud. It'll taste like ass, and you'll need a lot of bud to make it potent enough to be worth vaping, but it should work. Personally I would recommend mixing in some flavoring to help with the taste, and a bit of nicotine because nicotine and THC go together like peanut butter and jelly.

I also question if sub-ohm vaping would make this impossible, because I'm not sure if the coils would get hot enough to degrade the THC. Probably not, since it obviously works fine with nicotine. You'd have to look into the temperatures THC and nicotine can handle and see if nicotine's is too much higher than THC's. You're gonna have to do some research on this, but if it works it would be fucking badass

You can make it with VG but the problem with it is that it's not as strong as alcohol extraction, when you dissolve cannabinoids into VG the potency is only 1/3 max of what alcohol's is. There are a handful of premade PEG blends available online (EJMix, Puff Magic, etc) that you mix with hash oil and it works in tanks/drippers. I hear it tastes weird and can be a bit harsh on the throat though so that's something to consider. Maybe you could mix some of the PEG blend with hash oil and use as little PEG as possible to keep it potent, and then some VG into that. An online friend of mine posted about using this special CO2 hash oil that uses terpenes to thin the hash oil out enough to feed properly through a Subtank so that's possible though you'd have to buy/obtain your own terpenes for that lol.

Not at all, why would it be an issue? The coils don't get that hot, they reach the temperature at which juice vaporizes at and stop there, otherwise even with a wet wick the coil would just burn through the cotton. My temp controlled build I use at 500f which is higher than cotton's ignition temperature yet it never burns it.

Like the post above suggests, you can use a pre-mix like EJ, and use a concentrate to dissolve in it. However, I use a method that may be a bit less efficient, the dis-advantage is, it has to be done on an RDA/dripper, won't work in a tank. If you can afford dabs, you take an RDA with a build in it, freshly wicked, and some juice soaked into the wick (preferably 0mg, or 3mg, due to throat hit combined with the dabs being really harsh). I'll typically take some hits till the wick is getting dry again, then put a small glob of the dabsicles on each of your coils, and then pulse the fire button with the top cap off, to slowly heat and melt it into the coil/wick. Then put some eliquid on top, pop on the top cap, and it's ready to rip, great for someone who's on the go. The first 4 hits are strong, and if you push yourself, you may gag enough to puke, so take it easy until you get a feel for it. Now, after doing this several times, there'll be a considerable amount in the wick, and you can just re-juice it and still get some nice hits, also there'll be some reclaim on the inside of the top cap you can scrape off and re-vape. Good Luck!
