best boxmod for vaping wax/concentrates?? by Phineas Nivingshaw - Wed, 30 Nov 2016 21:49:11 EST ID:FeKr/L2U No.3154 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

is there any particular pen or boxmod I need to reach a high enough temp to vape concentrates properly or will any decent pen do? Also I have no idea what attachments are what on vapes so any help is appreciated.

Not really, you don't need much power for concentrates. Don't buy any name brand pens or atomizers. They're virtually the same quality as the generic Chinese ones, and most of the time were made in the same factory. Look for a quartz dual coil oil globe, should be around $10-15. For a battery go to a vape shop and pick up something cheap like an iStick.

I just got an istick power nano with a ceramic tank, what wattage do you think I should do?
this is my first time getting into this, I've read to stay between 4-7 something but I find at8-10 is where I get the best hits, because lower than that it doesn't get hot enough fast enough I guess.
Am I wasting my wax because I feel like every hit should be hard hitting like any other dab, even though I am vaping.
I've gotten a few really great hits out of it that really got me good but idk what I'm doing.
My box goes from 1-40 watts, voltage seems to adjust with watts.
has temperature control modes but those are for coils made out of specific material not including ceramic.
help

I doubt any of the coils for your tank can be temp controlled.

I wouldn't worry about your wattage too much. There's a lot of variance with these atomizers. You're not cranking it up to anything crazy, just go with what works for you.

You should experiment with turning down the power a bit though and see if you still get as high. Most of these atomizer aren't going to hit anything like a real rig. Turning them up may make them seem like they are hitting harder, but it mostly due to the hotter air burning your throat more.

Now I haven't used my vape on any concentrates yet but I do have something I can say about your comment.

When I vape if you begin to inhale quickly after you begin to hit your setup you can avoid the vapor getting hot and burning your throat. Reults; longer hits bigger clouds. That being said I would think you would want to put your wattage up as high as possible for concentrates to get the actual burn required for dabs.

I don't know the info but I would assume you could literally take the temp it takes to vaporize a dab in a dab rig and cal ulatewhat voltage it is that leads to an equivalent heat then extrapolate the wattage based of that voltage. Or ofc go temp controlled =p

it came w 3 coils: stainless steel, nickel, and titanium.
whats the difference between all of them?
how long should a coil last until you should change it?
mine goes up to 75w, i keep it in the 40-60 range.

Depending on your juice and how much you vape, anywhere between a week to a month-ish. You can use any of those coils on standard vw mode, and if your box has settings for temperature control (make sure it matches the metal the coil is made of) you can run it that way.
>>
Diaboli - Mon, 09 Jan 2017 11:32:40 EST ID:QxIlzRXL No.3226 Ignore Report Quick Reply
Pretty much what Matilda said, except I've had some coils burn out in days,

Currently I use a smok tank with an octo coil, if I don't let the juice level get low so the coil can't reabsorb juice quickly and the coil fires dry my coil will last well over a month.

The difference in coil metals is used only for temp control box mods. Your kangertech doesn't even have voltage settings iirc but has the standard wattage settings so you pretty much will use the steel coils only

Casually smoking 8ths in a Source Orb 3 by Banteel - Sat, 27 Aug 2016 18:05:31 EST ID:J52GtMM0 No.2892 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

For the casual shatter smoker:
This is for Source Orb 3 & 4 vape pens with the purchase of Single Coil Quartz Atomizers.
Take 2 to 3g of wax concentrate a month.
Roll each g as needed into a reasonable line, with parchment paper, apx 2 inches long.
Cut the g equally into 8 pieces by cutting halve, then cutting the halves and again halving all halves.
Place one 8th into the pen and casually smoke it for 2 days.

Recap. Minimum 2g wax cut into 8ths, smoke 1 8th every 2 days = 1g is 16 days = 2g min a month.

You're welcome for the moderation technique.

Generally you get the best hits from an atomizer designed specifically for concentrates.

If you don't want to get a dedicated atomizer there are solvents like ejmix designed to dilute your shatter to the point that it can be vaped in a normal tank. I'm not a big fan of these because they either taste bad, or add flavoring to cover up the funky taste.

I've also had good luck sticking a dab in the center of an unwicked clapton coil on an RDA.

No, it's not normal. It's a concentrate vapor pen.
I'm sure you understood the process I explained about cutting it up. So I will explain the part about using, loading, and smoking the pen. Again, this is related to the Source Vapes: Source Orb 3 pen. You can get the newer Source Orb 4 too, though again I recommend the Single Coil for making your 8th last longer. I have not tested the SO4, only the SO3.

Get your parchment paper full of 8ths from the freezer.
Pick up one 8th and place it into the atomizer gently push it down nicely onto the top of the single coil inside so it is only touching the coil. Do NOT force it down or pack it into the atomizer. When you press the button the coil will melt it down all on it's own.
Prime the wax by pressing the button for a few seconds a couple of times until the
concentrate melts down around the single coil.
At this point, you can place the top onto your pen and you are now ready to start smoking.
At a casual rate, I find my 8th lasts me 2 days. Then I repeate the process, get another 8th from the freezer and drop it in. These single coil atomizers will last 6-8 weeks.

https://www.sourcevapes.com/products/source-orb-quartz-atomizers-coil-less?variant=3581623427

I am interested in the SO4 with a Coil-less atomizer to see if I can produce the same moderation.

Currently sticking to 4/5 wraps on an average sized computer screwdriver. But it's burning out about 60W and doesn't seem to last too long.

Not even being sarcastic but if you haven't used steam-engine.org to calculate the estimated ohms and other useful build math (like how many wraps around what diameter etc), it might alleviate some headaches. I'd still check it with an ohms meter or I'd say possibly even your device although I'm not 100% certain this is the best way to do it, so don't quote me on it. But yeah, that calculator might help you a bit in the mean time.

Try parallel builds, it takes a while to ramp up, and generates a lot of vapor through surface contacts. You should the parallel 4 OR 5 times (it will look like 10 or 8 individual coil wrap, but since its parallel and its two wires, it will be 4 or 5)

The whole point of parallels is to increase the surface area for the resistance, which in turn produces clouds at the expense of ramp up time.
Just like with espresso versus drip brew for coffee, you can go for weaker just fine. Strength isn't the whole point at all. It's about method. They both allow for more strength without ruining flavor, but weaker strength still holds better flavor anyway.

Seeing as OP was burning out at 4/5 standard wraps, only doubling the surface area for similar resistance is a good choice. Going for more wraps wouldn't solve a burning issue at all.
Though it's mostly wicking that causes burning in the first place.

But what I'm curious about is the "doesn't seem to last too long" part. Coils last practically forever as long as you torch and clean remains off when changing wicks. Dry hits or overheating flavors can ruin wicks easily, but shouldn't kill coils at all.

Hello everyone. I'm a Strawberry Milk fanatic...ever since I had my first taste I've been all about it. Therefore, in case you guys were interested in all the one's I've tried so far, I've started writing reviews on them.

If you guys have any other good suggestions, please let me know. I'm always down to try something new.

Suicide Bunny - Mother's Milk
Good. I can take it or leave it, but there are much better out there. It’s not that I don’t like it, but it has a weird taste to it, like I can taste the strawberry, but the other flavors in it just don’t taste how I’d expect an artificially flavored milk vape juice. The price for this seemed high for something not as good as it should have been.
3/10

Boosted - Boosted
I liked it more than some of the others. Nothing special. I do wish the strawberry was stronger, but if you like a strawberry milkshake with more milkshake than strawberry, this one is for you.
6/10

Giant Vapor - Mom's Milk
I can’t remember where I read it, but apparently this is a pretty spot on clone of Mother’s Milk by Suicide Bunny. I think it was a little better though!

Thanks, and is initial ohm resistance the resistance which the mod itself gives off? Why would one need to use this? Also, what does the Ohm number assigned for coils mean? For instance one of the coils I have has a 0.2 ohm written on it.

Before answering, I'd just like to say you don't really have to worry much about it as long as you stay within limits of your battery/ies and get a satisfying vape. Prebuilt coils generally handle that if you don't want to get into it further.

If the mod shows a resistance, that's the total detected from the coil/s. There's probably watts and volts on display too.

One would use this as a base to start with, such as for temperature control or for resistance fluctuations in general. As temperature rises, so does resistance, depending on material and build. Kanthal has minimal fluctuations, nickel is crazy, SS316L is my favorite as a midpoint for everything.
Higher resistance is more voltage per watt. More power, more heat. There's a lot more to it than that, but it's a start.
More fluctuating metals are generally used for temperature control. The mod detects resistance changes and interprets them as temperate changes, then limits power to keep temperature at the limit.
Temperature control aside, it just means consecutive hits may be harder.

The number printed on prebuilt coils is the expected base resistance of them. Not always accurate, but generally close.

My guess is initial resistance is the resistance when the coil is cold. I don't know what vapes use for coils but the filament in a lightbulb increases resistance as it gets hotter. This allows the lightbulb to heat up quickly but reduce power as it gets to the right temperature.

.2 ohms just means .2 ohms. Ohms is the unit of measurement for resistance. So if you put 1 volt across a .2 ohm load you get 1/0.2 amps. So 5 amps. 5 amps * 1 volt = 5 watts.
>>

Regulated mods generally regulate by watts instead. Throwing more volts at it as it gets hotter, making it even hotter. Or reducing watts as it reaches a goal resistance for temperature.

Mechs, bypass, and voltage modes don't do this.
>>
Wesley Gummlemin - Mon, 19 Dec 2016 21:20:50 EST ID:WMl2mps6 No.3197 Ignore Report Quick Reply

That would be correct.

Temperature sensitive wires increase in resistance as they heat up. Temperature controlled mods use this change in resistance to determine the coil temp.

My real question is how does it compare to the Airizer One and Solo? From what I understand, vapor-production and quality on these are unparalleled by other handhelds and rival some desktops all the while being cheaper than the Pax.

Also, just throwing in my 2 cents, I've used many a Pax (1 mind you, not 2) and they all had the same fucking problem: very little production, and it burned the fuck out of my lip when I did draw long enough to get a decent hit. Way more than enough to make me never want to purchase one.

Ok guys, I've been vaping for three months now. My setup is a Wizmek RX200 and a VCST tank. I quit smoking and I'm vaping 0 nic juice, but I'm starting to get into cloud throwing. How can I set up my shit right now to get supersized clouds and maximum flavor? Call me a faggot if you want, but my smoking cessation tool became a hobby and I want to get stupid with it. Also I'm drunk as shit so bear with me.

The UWell crown tank will give 9/10 the clouds of any coil you build yourself to be honest. Everyone I know who used to be all about that dripper life has just switched to an rx200 and crown in the last year or so.

Hate to be that guy but I have a VERY hard time believing this to be true.
The only tank I know of that can compete with RDAs is the TF-v8 cloud beast by Smoktech and even then it's arguable.
To answer your question OP either start rebuilding your own RDA or get a Tf-v8 cloud beat.

It's all about sub ohm builds, good wick and a good mod to burn it all properly. Youtube has the best reviews
research and learn about Ohm's Law

Blowing big ass clouds is fun but keep in mind you will likely get a bit of shit when doing so in public (not saying it's justified, but that tends to be the way it is around where I am at least), it will fog the shit out of whatever indoor space you probably use it in (which isn't necessarily bad, although it can be detrimental to computers and such from the residue left overtime), and I'd say try to have a way to go back to more modest amounts if you don't like it after a while.

As far as a nice atty, if you can build and know ohms law and practice the safety rules in terms of vaping, an RDA is probably the best bet, although there are some really nice sub ohm tanks out there as well. I've heard good thing about the Goon RDA, but more than that I cannot really say. I'd advise you to check out youtube and some other reviews on a variety of rdas and read up on building in general if you haven't gotten into that already. If you still want to deal with prebuilt coils I'd say the Cloud Beast (although I heard some people had issues, it's still regarded as pretty nice) and maybe some other sub-ohm tanks although I'm a bit behind with the latest & greatest (I remember the Uwell Crown 1 getting great reviews, Herakles, Arctic, & Starre Freemax tanks being the hot new things, some newer than others, last I looked into new tanks).

How much volume are you talking? I've used Uwell Crowns, and even a few slightly older sub ohm tanks and they can fog a room up pretty quickly, of course with an RDA you have the option to make a wide variety of builds, more than I'm sure you can with the RBA deck for the crown.

I've heard good things about the TFV8 but also that it has some leak issues (I don't own one so I can't personally attest to this) but I heard it does live up to it's namesake. Coils, unless you do a rebuildable deck again are going to cost a bit in the long run, same with the Crown and most sub ohm tanks. Still cheaper than cigarettes though I feel.
