"Vaping is cheaper than smoking" by Caroline Fupperforth - Sat, 17 Sep 2016 21:32:43 EST ID:N3bVQM7i No.2945 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

I often hear one of benefits of vaping over smoking is that vaping is significantly cheaper than smoking cigarettes. I smoked cigarettes for five years, and switched to vaping about a year and a half ago. I love vaping, and only have the cigs every once in a blue moon.

There are a ton of reasons I prefer vaping over smoking. You can experience a functionally limitless array of delicious flavors, don't reek of stale cigarettes all the time, I can get away with satisfying my endless hunger for nicotine almost anywhere, at any time, (as long as I'm careful), I get a lot more hugs/physical contact from members of the opposite sex, my lungs thank me every morning, the list goes on and on.

But vaping is cheaper than smoking? No way. Not a chance. I have never experienced this. I actually pay a good deal more money vaping than I did smoking. I'm not counting potential money from hospital bills (lung cancer). I am just examining the day to day cost of vaping vs. smoking. My calculations of the cost of vaping puts me almost double of the cost I used to spend on cigarettes every day.

I vape fairly heavily. Many days I vape ~7ml of juice a day. Some days I vape only about 3ml a day, but I would say most days are upwards of 5ml. Which I don't think is an obscene amount, right?

The cost of liquid from my preferred local vapor store (also among the cheaper stores in my area):

100ml of Max VG liquid - $60
(Applying a 10% discount I often am able to get with coupons/store points/being friends with the employees - $54 for the 100ml)
(applying tax) - About $59 for the 100ml
Then 7ml of liquid = ~$3.54

Seriously, this.
I spent a couple hundred bucks on DIY supplies near the beginning of the year, and I still have enough stuff left to last me well into next year. Now I'm making flavors that taste better than the 30ml@$20 junk the sell at the vape shop, all for super cheap.

Anything is expensive when you're spending that much money for that little juice. That's insanity. I did that when I first started getting into vaping again and quit smoking, and it's not sustainable. I was hesitant to start DIYing, but other than dropping cigs and vaping in the first place, it's the best vape decision I've ever made.

Buy vg by the gallon, large quantities of nic and get yourself an array of flavours, I vape 15-30ml/day so I make multiple 120ml at a time. In the end after you have a mod and coils and everything vaping ends up costing me about $15/week, way cheaper than smoking.

Vaping has been way cheaper for me in the long run. The initial investment was like $80 for the box, the tank, and the stuff for making coils, and a 30mL bottle of juice costs $15 at my local vape shop and lasts me over a week. Compare that with smoking a pack a day, which costed me about $50 a week.

There are plenty of companies that offer fantastic juice at extremely cheap prices. Where are you buying your juice, and from what companies?

Also, a lot of companies do ridiculous sales all the time. Om Vapors is doing a 70% off sale right now. 70% off everything in the store. Plus if you spend over a certain amount you get 30 mL for under a buck.

Then there are other companies that sell 120 mL for $30.

Ur probably doing something wrong.

If you buy that shit that runs $20 for 30mL, yea, "vaping is cheaper than smoking" is 100% bullshit. Vaping would literally be 10x more expensive than smoking if I still bought from the local stores here, I vape around 15-20mL a day.
All you have to do is find a budget vendor you like though. I've been using VapeWild for the last year. Big Bottle Company is good too. Elitists on the Internet and in brick&mortars will have you believe that ejuice can't be good unless it costs more than your car, but I'd give these budget juices a 7/10 compared to the premium juice's 8/10. You can always DIY too but fuck that as far as I'm concerned, way too much time and effort involved.

This might be too specific of a question to be asking on here, but would anyone know what dry herb atomizers are compatible with the Kanger EVOD 1?

I'm also considering getting a cheap vape set up instead, like this one: http://www.vapir.com/vaporizers/oxygen-mini

Coils only last like 2 days by Archie Desslechork - Sun, 04 Sep 2016 13:32:07 EST ID:ZcCj6RnB No.2900 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

So I've been vaping a little over a month now. I have an iStick Pico and Melo 3 tank, and vape between 40-45w usually. The problem I'm having is that my coils will only taste good for like 2 days, and it'll start quickly decreasing in taste up to about 6 days at most when it just starts tasting burnt up. Besides turning it down or vaping less, is there a way I can prolong the life of my coils? Or should I just get an RDA setup and just rebuild whenever I feel like it?

How much liquid do you vape a day. If it's more than 2-4ml a day, I recommend you RDA immediately.

Typical reasons for burnt out coils include

  • not letting it soak up juice for long enough before first use of coil ever, the longer the better

  • taking multiple long hits back to back, the coils run too hot, dry out the cotton too fast

  • switching up liquids, but not switching coils inbetween, the taste goes a lot quicker and all the diff liquids have potential to gunk up coils

  • using liquids which are too thick for your set up, makes the vape work overtime and burns out faster

In my experience, the stock coils are only good for light users. People who "take a few puffs" every once in a while. If you are even remotely about da clouds or inhale, it won't hold up very long.

No im not that guy lol.

Well, i figured it out. Vaping a lot and switching juices is the culprit. I got a cleito tank and only running one flavor in it, and its holding up well. My old tank is reserved for these two very similar custard flavors. Everything else i have im probably not gonna touch unless out of desperation lol,

Yes it does. Pico and its Melo 3 both support nickel just fine.
Personally I'd say to go for SS316L though. Stainless steel works great even without TC on. Seems a ton safer than nickel or titanium in that aspect.

If you're into prebuilt atomizer heads, there's some fancy SS NotchCoil thing for it which looks to have quite the surface area and only 0.25ohm resistance.
But it really does make sense to get into RBA setups instead, for cost if nothing else.

STEEPING HACK 4 U by Angus Drebblefoot - Sun, 21 Aug 2016 13:40:41 EST ID:XYn3oUwq No.2881 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

Sup guys I came up with a steeping technique that i've had great results with.

Basically, I took the concept of the water bath and said fuck water baths.

I've used a portable heater fan to subject my bottles to heat, every once in a while (maybe 10 mins) I put all the bottles into a bag and shake the fuck up. Continue for around an hour, occasionally turning off.

I'm checking the bottles intermittently to be sure that they don't end up too hot and cracking under the heat.

So far it's taken some really nasty, understeeped perfumey smell mixes and they've transformed into significantly better quality flavours in under and hour.

Hopefully this helps some of you, I don't agree with half of the overly protective, overly scientific bullshit that you see online about steeping. This method is working for me great and hopefully some of you do too.

This happened a few days ago and I was too much of a dumbdumb to document it along the way so I'll attempt to describe it here. Here's the short version: There might be a way to oxidize or steep your fluid almost instantly. Or I might just be an idiot who's new to vaping and reporting something everyone already knows.

I was too broke to buy a new bottle of fluid so I started taking my hoard of near-empties and mixing them in my tank. Each bottle was a different brand, a different flavor, and had a different concentration of nicotine. A minority of these also had artificial colouring.

When I would mix two juices I immediately noticed "threads" of very brown fluid suspended within the rest of the juice. Over the course of maybe half an hour, the fluid would sometimes turn so dark that I couldn't see through the clearomizor to the coil within. This also effected the taste and seemed to make one but not all of the flavors more pronounced.

I cleaned the ever loving shit out of my coil with water and rubbing alcohol, and conducted some experiments. What I found was that bigger differences in nicotine concentration resulted in different levels of darkening.

Mixing 6mg and 6mg resulted in no discoloration. Mixing 6mg and 8mg made it turn slightly brown, and mixing 0mg and either 6mg or 8mg is what turned it completely opaque.

Reading image boards and Google searches told me that vape fluid darkens when it oxidizes and this is something people want and go to lengths like this thread to provoke. So if anybody is willing to buy two bottles of the same flavor, one with high nicotine content and one with none, this might be what you've been waiting for.

Pretty simple, Post your vape model, brand, coils, etc. Let us know what you like or don't like about. Price included would be great too. You all get the idea.

I'll start...

I have a Kangertech SUBOX Mini(Black cuz im myzteriouz). Got the whole starter kit which include an extra coil, charging cable and warranty along with all the vape stuff(no liquid included) for $79 plus tax

TBH this is my first real vape(had a Cig20 e-cig before but wasn't a fan of it.) so i can't give you too much opinion but i definitely am satisfied for my first vape.

My question is, how worth is it to experiment with different kinds of coils? does it really make a big difference in your vaping?

Vaping produces nowhere near as much smell as smoking, there's still a little odour of burned popcorn that dissipates completely after about a minute.

Get the Solo, it's about the size of a Red Bull can and it's very easy to look after and load etc. You can get a bubbler stem attachment but vaping is nowhere near as harsh as smoking so I doubt you will need it, I would feel weird about water so close to the electronics anyway.

Pros
  • clouds
  • squeezer box to fill rda is fun at first
  • clouds
  • can be used while charging
  • clouds

Cons
  • rda that comes with it kinda sucks, will be replacing soon
  • battery and liquid goes fast if you are a heavy vaper
  • this thing is awkward and oversized, not great for putting in your pockets

Overall, for how cheap it is, it's a high powered device that will keep you happy

I have to disagree. Vaping weed makes a pretty strong and distinct aroma. As someone who uses a flowermate 5s pro, I've always picked up comments about smell.

Whether it's walking in public and my friends catch the wave of aroma. Or inside my flat and my flatmates comment on the hall smelling herbal. The "vape make no smell" thing has always seemed a bit delusional to me. Its less obvious visually, but smell wise, you will catch it.

Smell only goes with Windows open for 20 mins.

400+ F/200+ C is a good temp.

With tobacco you really want to be careful with how much you vape. Unlike weed; where you can vape literally infinite amounts with no consequence, you can actually OD on vaping tobacco... trust me. Bac sneaks up on you quick and vaping it is MUCH more potent than smoking. Take about 2-3 good hulls and STOP, just wait a minute and you'll feel the massive headrush.

I don't know a thing about vaping. Can anyone please point me towards useful sites/information? Also reputable brands etc. I just need something that can (a) do nicotine and (b) have flavors. She usually smokes Misty 125s.

For like $35 you can get her a cheap pen, like a T18. It's a decent vape, I got the old man using one these days. Misty 120's, you'll want to get her a weaker juice, if she smokes the menthol ones, go with that. Sometimes shops will have juices that are quite obviously targeting a particular brand of cigs, (i.e. bayport for newport, weston for winston, etc).

Just go down to the local shop (if you're in a rural area, that may be a few towns away, if you're in a big city, just throw a rock and go to the first one it hits.). Don't let them upsell you, just don't ignore everything they say either.

buy an ego twist or a vision spinner, then buy an iclear 16 and a kanger evod 2.

the twist or spinner are the batteries, maybe get both so she has one to use while the other charges. they both use the same charger. the iclear and evod can be got for like 10 dollars for both. they are two different types of clearomizers. one is top coil design and one is bottom coil design, so you cold get an idea of what she likes more. after you know which she prefers, buy replacement coils for that clearomizer.

as for juice, just look for literally anything cheap. if she smokes menthols go for menthols. when you're switching off cigarettes everything more or less tastes the same anyway. I quit using a more expensive and less versatile set up than this because no one told me that this shit was fine for switching and cheap.

I want to buy a vaporizer for standard weed and maybe when it's legal in the distant future the oils, but while I'm at it I might as well get one that's also compatible with the e-liquid refills you would use with e-cigarettes. I know the temperatures are different for vaping the eliquids in cigarettes but there's a massive crossover so I should be fine.

I want to buy a flowermate but there's no compatibility. Is it possible I could buy a seperate product such as a liquid chamber that I could put in the flowermate? It's really only an issue of needing something to hold the liquid.

Only one I've seen that for sure markets itself as a dry herb and oil/wax is this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiAgNTH2vfE but I checked their website and I might not be able to get one of the models with wax/oil support vessel thing.

thanks lads

I bought a fuckton of nicotine, but now all of it turned yellowish. I did keep it closed in a dark and cool area.
I haven't tried it yet, but I did have some juices I made a few months ago with that nic (that juice turned yellow too) and it is SUPER HARSH.

can I still use that nic and just use lower concentrations? is it bad for my health?

my second question is if I can use food/cosmetic essences to flavor my e juices. I'm not in US or UK, so a lot of the recommended essence brands are hard to find.
Is there anything I should keep an eye for? Can I inhale any essence whatsoever as long as it is diluted in PG?
>>
Augustus Lightspear - Thu, 08 Sep 2016 00:21:57 EST ID:WMl2mps6 No.2909 Ignore Report Quick Reply
Nic has probably gone bad, but you might as well give it a try and see how it hits, the ingredients are cheap. I doubt testing it out will cause anymore harm than nicotine already does.

Food safe flavors are generally safe to vape. Make sure they're PG based though, some are diluted in ethanol. You can still use the ethanol based flavors, but they can be harsh if you don't let them breathe for a few days after mixing.

Also keep an eye out for diacetyl. It's usually found in buttery and creamy flavors. Some people think its pure cancer, others think its not a big issue. I'll let you do the research and come to your own conclusion.

Awful information.

Nicotine will always turn yellow in storage. 100% normal.

Any perception of harshness is most likely psychological or you need to actually lower your % because it's too much for you. Steep and mix your flavours properly. You can get random bumps of harshness from poorly mixed juice because there's a spike of nic in it.

So here's something nobody on the internet is talking about.... Is it possible to get addicted to nicotine through vaping? People are saying yes and no, but have been addicted to cigarettes for 20 years so they have no real clue, so my question is this.

Has anyone here NOT smoked cigarettes, vaped, and then became addicted to nicotine?

Why the fuck would anyone assume you can't?
If it has nicotine in it and you make a habit out of it you can get hooked yes

>is it possible to get addicted to nicotine
nigga, you are fucking stupid as hell.
shaking my damn head fam

you get MORE addicted because you are a piece of shit that will vape everywhere constantly whereas cigarettes you smoke on occasion outdoors (assuming you aren't a degenerate fuckboi).
My vape broke and I started smoking cuz I was stressed as fuck, and found out I was now a pack a day, where before I was only 2-3 smokes a day.

Yes nicotine is addictive, but its a different addiction than cigarettes. In addition to nicotine tobacco also contains harmine, a mild MAOI. So if you go to long without a smoke you experience both nicotine and MAOI withdrawal which is noticeably shittier than just nicotine withdrawal.

Jesus Christ the problem with legal drugs is that a bunch of idiots start thinking they must be totally harmless and nonaddicting because they're legal and can't handle it when the government lets us make decisions about our health on our own.

Issues with Uwell Crown coil by Lydia Clablingcocke - Fri, 12 Aug 2016 03:18:55 EST ID:JZAWenAQ No.2850 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

I've had my Uwell Crown for awhile now, used with a Kbox mini, and I've never had issues. I just changed the coil and I can't even get the damn thing to detect it for some reason. If I swap back to my old coil, it works fine. I had a similar coil about a month ago that was doing the same thing, but after fiddling with it for a bit, I managed to get it to work. Is there something I need to do, or did I get a dud coil or something?

I could never get it to work. I got a new coil and it works fine. I'd say go ahead and get the Crown II. Bad coils happen with any brand, I suppose.

My Crown 2 rules as long as it isn't leaking everywhere. Which is kinda often actually.

You wanna make sure your store isn't selling you the wrong coils. Many times they'd sell me the wrong resistance or the nickel version and it wouldn't detect the atomizer.
