PS4 update 4.0 beta by Magus - Wed, 17 Aug 2016 19:54:51 EST ID:1sI0HwDW No.680194 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

So update 4.0 is coming to the PS4 soon and I was just accepted to take part in the beta. It's currently downloading.

Some of the notable features include:
Folders so you can organize your home screen (like the PS3's folders)
the ability to hide apps like Media Player, Share Play, etc. from home screen
The ability to stream 720p 60fps from YouTube, Twitch, and DailyMotion (although I was already streaming 1080p 60fps on YouTube before the update, but hey whatever I won't knock the ability to do it with 720p)
Privacy settings can now be applied on a game by game basis
Enhanced and customizable quick menu
The ability to look at trophies for a game directly from the quick menu
Friend Request Acceptance notifications
Adding cover photos to your community profile
Uploading screenshots directly to the community page

Contrary to popular rumor, there's no mention of being able to change your PSN ID name, and there's no mention of PS1 and PS2 backwards compatibility. If you guys wanna know more just ask.

Once you get used to it, it's fine.
Tbh the ps4 controller feels great. Curved triggers, indented analog sticks for maximal thumb comfort, perfectly shaped handles

yeah the whole controller is ergonomic as hell. super comfy. maybe the comfiest I've ever held. the start and select button placement is weird but you do get used to it over time. I'm thinking of getting an extra controller just for pc use.

Yeah don't get me wrong I think it's a great controller and honestly there's very little to complain about with it. It's just making those buttons that flush was kind of a doofy decision.

>>698581
I've had problems with stick drift on PC, but I think that has more to do with conflicting drivers than a problem with the controller itself, because it was working beautifully at one point and it still works great on console. Just too lazy to uninstall/reinstall drivers tbh.

Nightmare Creatures has aged a lot worse than RE or Silent Hill. It's a completely different style of game and all, and I mean, visually it's.... OK, there are lots of cool enemy types and the atmosphere holds up pretty well. But the combo based gameplay just kills it. Less a game about skill or any interesting gameplay structure and more about memorization, especially with the bosses. Might be worth giving another shot if you're nostalgic over it though. I had a fun time revisiting it a few years back but it's not anything I'd stick with.

Probably avoid the sequel. It's fine if you just really like Nightmare Creatures for whatever reason and want more kind of goofy, edgy horror stuff, but overall it's a way uglier and way more boring game.

Probably. I remember the first time i picked up bloodborne it felt so nostalgic and reminded me of Nightmare Creatures. I really prefer it to all the Dark Souls games. In darksouls all you have to do tread carefully with your shield up and drink your Tang if you get hurt, Bloodborne requires you to think and move quickly and make sure you use your pistol in the right situation. Darksouls 2 and 3 didnt take me much to finish them, while bloodborne i had to replay the first level many time to get to this new style of gaming just like Demon Souls. I never really liked the Dark Souls games. After demon souls it just felt like more of the same, like cocks of doody or FarDry but BloodBorne felt like a brand new thing and i love it. Plus the game Is Gorgeous. One of the best looking game i ever played

I'm a heavy armor dual wield vampire, but with a custom painted trenchcoat costume so I look all ~fancy~

As a Vamp you get severe penalties to health regen, which is the major drawback to the class. That and like 10x fire damage which can really fuck you at times. But you can heal yourself during battle. So you essentially get to do ridiculous damage in exchange for having to manually heal instead of auto-regen. I offset this with heavy armor to soak up damage and keep my need to heal to a minimum, and quick dual wield combos so I can get in and out of fights quickly. I'm only like level 26, but so far I haven't died once since embracing the dark gift. Came close a couple times though.

Why do AAA videogames do everything for you these days? You would think that modern games would be more challenging, since they are now aimed at teenagers and young adults, but even the hardest games we have today are just as hard as the regular games of the past that were made for little kids. What the fuck went wrong?

We don't need to get health, the game regenerates it for you; we don't have to discover the objective and how to achieve it, the game tells you everything; we don't have to find save points, the game lets you save at any moment. Why the fuck would you even play a game if it treats you like a little baby? Do people that play cinematic AAA games even like videogames?

Artificial difficulty via shitty save systems and walking around in circles for 30 minutes until you find the objective is not good game design. Yea sometimes it's fun, like trying to find things with the god awful directions NPC's give in Morrowind, but for the most part it's just tedious fluff in between the action that people actually play the game for. When used to direct the player towards more engaging/dynamic/FUN aspects of the game, there's nothing wrong with regenerating health and autosaves. Battletoads on SNES isn't the epitome of gaming just because it gives you 3 lives and no checkpoints, that's just stupid.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LW_mLIBjl8A

Now this has possibilities, someone's reverse-engineered GTA V and set up a dedicated RP and mod server for home-brew games, like zombie mods.

I can see this taking off, vanilla GTA is a bit played out, after you've done The Purge, tsunami mode, extreme sports, and mid-air Hot Wheels tracks, there's nothing left if you think, as all right-minded citizens should, that Green Jelly is a waste of a life and he and his clickbait fake Youtube thumbnails are going to be the first up against the wall when the revolution comes.

HOWEVER. This has opened it up to new modes of gameplay, I'm thinking Highlander, where you have to find the other players and cut their heads off, then escape the police, and you can only die by decapitation. Or Doom, or STALKER Hollywood style, or Death Race 2000, or Crank, or Gone In 60 Seconds, or Vampire, or The Matrix, or The Mist, or City Of Heroes (I'm sure there are enough superhero mods to patch something together). Ooh, or Days Of Future Past, with the supers fighting Sentinels.
Or Gantz, or Death Note, or Logan's Run, or The Holders, or the SCP Foundation, or the Dionaea House, or Enter The Shadowside, or Final Destination, or Predator, or Aliens, or Blade Runner...

Well, IDK why you replied to me then. When I said they were "milking it", I wasn't referring to stupid skin packs, I was referring to legitimate additions to the game that ensure people have something to come back to years down the line.

That's they key to Minecraft's success. To keep people playing. If people stop playing or get bored, it's over. So they've developed this process whereby they update the game once a year with a relatively small amount of content — but enough content to get people to boot up the game and check it out.

If it were up to me, they'd spend a year doing full development, fully fleshing out the game, and then release it, and that'd be it for Minecraft, no more official updates. Microsoft doesn't want that though, they want to wave a carrot on a stick in front of everyone.

Okay. I'm gonna try not to incite thing this board doesn't like by providing a few different answers.

  1. Get a personal computer you can upgrade as you want/need. Not a laptop, those generally can't be upgraded. Watch for sales on components you want to upgrade, read reviews, make enlightened purchases. Working this way can make a machine last 20 years easy.

2. Go old school console, almost anything that isn't current tech will have the price marked down considerably. Good value for the money imo.

When did I feel like I had it all.. well, I guess I do now. I have more movies, anime and vidya gaems than I could ever find time for, I don't have the newest toys but I'm pretty happy. The state of mind is what's most important to me.

Take it from a life long lover of Diablo 2. The Median XL mod is the best thing ever.
It's a whole new game within the art and mechanics of D2.

-All skills changed
-All items changed
-Gold is rare
-Challenges, new quests, new areas, new bosses, new enemies
Haven't been this into a game since I got hooked on Planetside2 in late 2013.

LOVE THIS GAME

First challenge is at lvl5 so don't miss it. Cube the statue you get and at level five you can summon the challenge. You'll also want to have the official documentation on everything in your browser or available offline.

I don't think I'll ever return to vanilla D2.

Well I've got two questions about this. Can anyone hook me up with a working torrent that has this pre installed? Tried to set it up from a torrent a couple times and shit didn't want to work. And there is there any way to play this with a controller?

That's a really cool shirt, and yeah for a free dungeon crawler, PoE is pretty fucking amazing. I just couldn't really get into it, it's not my cup of tea, with the grinding and shit.
But I recognize that it was an awesome game, and I really liked the passive skill tree, it's very complex and definitely takes some forethought to see how you wanna build your character.
Also the options for character building are really broad, as you can build branches between different classes very well. Even the armors have that ability, as there are the main classes of armors, but every armor also has version that are crossovers between the different main branches. For example, there are the ones that give you evasion for the rogues, but also kinds that give you evasion, and armor, for a rogue/warrior, or evasion and mana shield for a mage/rogue. And that stuff goes into any kind of crossover class you wanna build. The complexity of it all is what gives me a big ol' boner, even though that specific genre isn't even in my wheelhouse to be honest.

Oh shit AA. Most populated maps was Bridge, and I think SF CSAR and SF Hospital missions. Is it still that way (if people are playing)

Man good times when I was younger.

I played a couple hours of SF Hospital yesterday, people still like that one a lot. On the American server there's usually pretty good rotation on most maps.

There's usually a bridge server too.

I started playing this recently and its boosted my K/D on insurgency big time because I'm playing it so carefully like you have to in AA.

I just started playing Warframe last week. Haven't clowned with the group aspect as I'm still getting used to the controls. Pretty fun though! Started with Mag, the pistol, and the bow

cute video
