So, I'm kinda strapped for cash lately due to some stacking bills, and I was wondering how hard is it to make money by streaming gameplay footage. I haven't checked out the Twich scene and youtube gameplay videos since 2013, so I imagine since then, every other cunt with a half-decent gaming rig and too much free time on their hands is trying to do this, most of them are likely to be miserably failing, but either way, the possible platforms are flooded completely. Is that so?
I too am a cunt with a pretty decent gaming rig, albeit somewhat outdated, but I have no trouble running new games at full HD res, with the graphics set to high or ultra, varying from title to title, I've been playing all sorts of shit consistently since 1998, which I imagine is when most current streamers were born anyway, so I think I can appeal to the very slightly older crowd (25-35ish year olds), and I like to think I don't suck horribly. Plus, I'm from Eastern Europe, so I could play the whole "Slavic" angle to appeal to the kids, while playing both new and old games and showing easter eggs, easier ways of doing hard shit and so on.
What are the odds of any of that mattering even a little, so that I can make 3-400 bucks til mid august if I start now?

To be fair, working near minimum wage will make you way more money that Youtube. Min wage or slightly above will cover 1000 dollars a month. And you work 120 hours if full time.

On my channel I do mostly music/audio production/covers of shit and this is the time for a video:

>Spend about 6-8 hours working out the song, the technique, process etc. This is mostly for covers but it really adds up. Some audio production videos don't require much going into them. But some music things can be 20 hours of prerequisite work. So I average.
>Then spend about 2-4 hours recording. Getting everything perfect as Youtube has become less about the content and more about the production quality and packaging. Some shit just doesn't afford for mistakes either, like covers.
>Then spend at least 3 hours working on editing, cutting, splicing, effects, etc. Making it the actual video.
>Then I always spend another 1-2 hours getting it to youtube in full.

So for one video, it is like 15 hours before I even total it up. And looking over my numbers, it indeed comes out to somewhere around 15 hours. And that is spread apart, that isn't work 2 8 hour days. That is intermittent which makes it feel longer. And god forbid something gets fucked up in one of the processes. I try and do 2 videos a week which is a part time job alone. Sometimes I can get 3 videos a week if all falls in place. So probably 9-10 videos a week. Which is probably 130 hours a month spent holding the youtube channel down. That doesn't even account for answering comments, banning people, fixing shit that breaks on my end from constant use, wear and tear on my equipment etc.

So if we break that down into payment, I get 200 a month, I'm getting paid less than 2 dollars an hour. Most of the more successful but not huge (1 mil subs+) channels have rates of about 2-3 dollars an hour of work. Excluding the gaming channels because I don't know any of those guys except for one and he makes 4 videos a day and has only 20k subs which means he gets jack shit lol.

>So basically, working minimum wage for a month, just a month would be what I make in half a year on youtube. And my channel has far more success than most fly-by night gaming channels that jumped into the market way after Pewdiepie, Markiplier, Machinima, jacksetpticeye etc.

I also know that probably sounds like I hate youtube and I don't. I love that I can put my creativity and shit out there so easily and be able to hang around and connect with people who are also creative and unique. And I can troll the fuck out of the comment sections and ban anyone I don't like. Like Spardot.

It is a labor of love. I'd just work overtime if I was in it for making money. Some of the other benefits of youtube like media passes to cool shit and career opportunities are second to none. I can sit in my house all day and get opportunities I wouldn't find in a 200 mile radius if I tried.

People "go into" youtube for the wrong reason. And that is why so many are bitter now or just stopped working on it. Adsense/Monetization is not a get rich quick scheme. Just ask the blogspot bloggers.

I would like to borrow your last paragraph and replace "YouTube" with "creativity"

There's many bedroom producers and artists I follow and they constantly complain about numbers and whatnot. It's almost insulting when you listen to their newest track and maybe even comment how much you like it and they post something about "only 200 plays today what the hell"

Always good to hear there are real people being real with themselves out there and doing something simply because they enjoy it.

Why is there no OW thread in the first 6 pages? How do you guys regard this game?

I personally suck at it due to my very poor aiming skills. I wish it weren't the case because it gets me stuck with people who don't seem to have much teamplay or game sense.

This, without a doubt.

Game's on its 5th season of competitive and still has no system in place for mitigating the overwhelming number of players who queue for said mode with rigidly anti-competitive attitudes. By far the most immature, entitled community of any game I have ever experienced.

Blizz is more interested in coddling kids and developing Weeb Dress-up/Emote Simulator than properly balancing heroes and promoting a healthy, teamplay-oriented community.

>I wish it weren't the case because it gets me stuck with people who don't seem to have much teamplay or game sense.

Get used to it. You could be decent, even great and still wind up with mates who have no business in comp.

So I recently started playing STALKER CoP again, and I decided to install the Misery mod as it was the last mod I was following a few years ago. I'm trying to relive the game and experience it in the best possible way. Are there any other mods out there now that are better?

Mainly looking for realism/improved AI/improved graphics/textures/extra features. I have a very nice gaming rig so hardware isn't a problem, I want to push the game to its limits I'm just not up to date on the modding scene. Thanks in advance

Get Misery.

Its safer to mod CoP with a single overhaul than it is with several smaller mods.

Still haven't seen all of Pripyat due to game breaking crashes though.

Pretty much games like Abzu, Journey, or Flower. Unfortuantely Abzu has no crack and the other two are on PS4 so idk

Right now the only one I have is Firewatch, it seems okay so far, nothing super interesting but definitely a gorgeous background

I don't think Kirt-senpai~ would be very willing to host a banner advocating sharing a batch of files that Sony is willing to get litigious over.

It'd just bring unnecessary hassle and attention to the site. So failing that, the only option is to signal boost anywhere and everywhere.

Personally, I'm not that interested in the PS4 at the moment, but once it comes time to upgrade my softmodded Wii U in a few years or so, i'm definately looking in the PS4's direction. Having the SDK for it released and spread far and wide to all hacking communites would do wonders for getting emulation up and running on the thing. Who knows, by then maybe we'll see decently performing X360 emulator. Maybe even a PS3 emulator. (I know that's extremely unlikely given the weird tech Sony went ahead and put in the thing, but one can hope for the best).

Playing some DH with the Kaiserreich mod as a restored Austria-Hungary. After winning over the German Empire, the Frenchies got DOW'd by a resurgent Nazi Russia and I had to do the same to keep RUSSIA STRONK from steamrolling through all of Europe.

Me and my trusty satellites managed to cut off the Ruskie offensive in Lithuania, and now Europe is mine. Unless Russia decides to invade me before I've beaten France, in which case I'm probably fucked.

I came here to ask if anyone plays HoI4. I used to play DH all the time, fucking loved it My friend convinced me to buy HoI4 about 2 months ago and I've put nearly 150 hours into it. It's fucking awesome. It's a bit more streamlined and accessible than other HoI titles but not simplified or dumbed down. Ok the AI is not great, at all, but it's been getting better with patches and to be honest this game is waaay better with humans (as any game I guess). I have convinced a few of my friends to buy this and I now regularly play this with 2-4 other people. Oh, and there are shit tons of cool mods.

I tried going back to older titles like III but it just felt so unnecessarily complicated compared to IV. I also really miss the National Focus Tree aspect of IV. I also way prefer the economy and supply system. To be honest I really think IV is the best of the HoIs in many many aspects but the poor AI is holding it back. II and III might be dated, needlessly complex and unstable but at least it had challenging AI. Though I guess this was only achieved after years of patches and modding.

Anyway I fucking love grand strategy. I have only played Paradox titles and at that only HoI II/III/IV and EUIV. I've heard Victoria 2 is by far the best one but it looks kind of dated to me it would probably take me a while to get into it. Still though, it does sound fantastic, the depth that you can go into when it comes to personalizing every aspect of your nation just sounds awesome. Agh, Paradox games are dangerously fun. 1 hour becomes 6. Days turn to weeks. Life just zips by while getting stoned and plotting communist revolutions all over the globe.

Yeah HOI4 AI is terrible, which is a shame. The updates/dlc have been pretty bad for it too. I think the DLC has just added some focus trees, which a ton of mods do for free.

You should check out stellaris, it's a bit different from their other titles, it kinda starts out as a 4x game but as your empire grows the gameplay seamlessly and slowly shifts into more grand-strategy-type gameplay. Also you can enslave and exterminate entire races, so that's fun.

I'm checking out Apres Moi Le Deluge (I think by Panopticon? Anyway he was working on one of the Napoleonic alt-history mods iirc). Doesn't feel quite as fleshed out as Kaiserreich yet as far as like, unique NF trees and other flavor stuff is concerned, but the whole dynamic feels very different from a vanilla or even a KR game. I like it.

Yeah in theory I prefer DH in a lot of ways, but after a certain point I can't waste any more of my life constantly checking the production screen to slightly readjust my sliders as IC trickles in from reducing dissent or whatever. It's just not happening. As for Victoria 2, I don't know if I'd call it the "best" because so much of it is still utterly broken and janky, but I like that the focus is more on internal management rather than blobbing, and the time period is really interesting to me. It's more of a simulation than the other PDS games in that a lot of stuff is out of your hands and you can only affect in indirectly, so it can be frustrating if you have a bunch of specific goals in mind, but it's also a lot of fun to just watch the map and see what sort of weird shit pops up

Id quite like to see more surprise elements in RPGs such as robbery. You often have it too easy in games, like you have a weapon and you will never lose it.

What if you came home and had been robbed? That would make for an interesting mission to get your important and sometimes sentimental stuff back.
The only game I can think of right now that does this is GTA online where you can get someone mugged but only for money. Id like to see this done to a more advanced degree in Cyberpunk 2077.
Any ideas of things that havnt really been done before?

There's actually a lot of good ideas here. Shows that people can be creative and analytical when it comes to taking what games are and showing what they can and should be (also that they have no programming ability and people like me will make cocaine-on-escort-ass money for doing the right thing in game evolution.)

This is actually my current project, with significant variations but I definitely concur seamless changes in scope (and gameplay style) in a large, persistent setting can offer unbelievable immersion and enjoyment.

Small example imagine you conquer your world and level up some rando tank crew to elite status being so badass then later it gets firebombed into annihilation by your enemy. Not only are you pissed that a whole world under your control has just been annihilated, Sgt. Coolguy who would have been a monster in the next invasion is now DEAD! Ha Ha Ha!

I play too many licensed games by Franziska Von Karma - Mon, 26 Jun 2017 09:56:52 EST ID:mDy5oEy0 No.703164 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

Not that it's a problem. I love 'em. Even the bad ones. There's something just weirdly satisfying about playing a game that haphazardly crams a movie/book/comic/etc plot into everything, and it's fun to see when games like this have different takes on these stories. It's also fun to see how developers can take moments from media like this and translate them into actual gameplay.

There's just something about licensed games that appeal to me. I think a lot of it is character familiarity but there's also the adaptation aspect of it that I admire. Maybe I'm just a consumer whore, but hey fuck it, I'm enjoying myself.

Personal favorites include:
The Darkness 1 & 2 (but especially 1)
Spider-Man 2
Ultimate Spider-Man
Maximum Carnage
all the Spider-Man games, honestly
Most of the TMNT games, including Out of the Shadows and Mutants in Manhattan
Arkham series
Batman Begins
Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage
Berserk Musou

You know its obvious but no one mentioned it, the lego games dude. Their fun and there's an awful lot of them. You can get your lego bashing and jumping gameplay in a lot of diffrent flavors. Fun freaking games.

I like the lego star wars games the best but the batman ones are pretty sweet too. Also star wars game man, I know you've played at least some of the better ones but there's really neat stuff out there that you should try like star wars arcade.

Lets get the ball rolling there's way more good and at least palatable games to go at here.

Yeah, I at least really liked the Lego Star Wars game based on the original trilogy. That was fun.

I've played Star Wars Arcade, that game's awesome. I also really liked Bounty Hunter and the KOTOR games. And the X-Wing and Tie Fighter games, of course. Dark Forces was a pretty decent Doom clone, and the first Force Unleashed game was somewhat enjoyable. I know people tend to lose their shit over Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast and I can see why, but I never managed to really get into it.

Moving past Star Wars though, I guess Stranglehold here counts as a licensed game since it's actually a sequel to a movie. Fun game, kind of a worse Max Payne but with lots more environment interactivity. The story kinda sucks but if all you want out of it is to run around shooting countless mooks in style it delivers on that really well.

I think no one mentioned the Lego games because they're like call of duty, you've played one you've played them all. Sure they're fun, but it really just comes down to a collectathon with no challenge. Most people I know who still buy them is cause they have kids. I like the games but I wouldn't recommend them to any adult

I can't think of a single movie-based game that's captures the atmosphere and essence that made the source so good.
Also, Starwars: Knights Of The Old Republic (play the second one first) is worth mentioning
