lol so many easily upset butts in here.

Lots of games these days actually use the CPU, so getting a new graphics card without upgrading a CPU might be a waste unless you're planning to upgrade in the future.

OP, just get a Switch.

>Lots of games these days actually use the CPU
Oh really

>so getting a new graphics card without upgrading a CPU might be a waste unless you're planning to upgrade in the future.

Not really. Only if you want to push for a very stable 60fps update or more than 120fps, because even on modern games that really punish the cpu you can get 30-60fps even if you have a really old ass cpu, like a second generation intel i7 or i5. And upgrading my cpu would make no notiaceable difference in my case since I'm planning on buying the gtx1070 to run games at high resolutions. My cpu is the i5 4440 by the way, which is more than enough for my purposes, you goober.

Honk you're usually not offensively stupid but this time you might actually waste people's money.

CPUs are used in a handful of games. However most of the time CPU requirements are inflated on games. Remember fallout 4? I had a CPU maybe 15% faster than the minimum and everything ran maxed. Some guy had an AMD from 2009 (about 1/3 of the processing power of the minimum CPU if that) and it ran because his GPU was only slightly below the requirement. I mean it was basically at switch resolution but his CPU wasn't even half the thing supposedly needed it shouldn't have worked at all.

Okay serious advice:

If I were worried about the future I'd wait until my components didn't cut it though. Over time you get more processing power for your money so until you actually need parts don't buy them. The longer you wait the less you'll pay for that 1070, or maybe you'll get a 1160 by the time it matters, which will cost less and you'll have most of the price of your 1260 saved up already as well. Both of which outperforming the 1070.

So with Origins just recently coming out it made me decide to finally give the series a good shot. I played the first game when it first came out and disliked it, I found it boring. A lot of people have told me to skip the first game because the second is better, but that's not something that sounds good to me. What do you people think, skip the first game, is there a good video on youtube that explains everything in the first game? Do people think I should still play it? Any other games in the series that you thought were trash, or did you like the first game? Or any tips to get the most enjoyment out of it. And what was your favorite game in the series?

I haven't played since ACII but I totally agree. You'd think by now the main character (was his name Desmond I think?) would get a full game where he finally used everything he learned in the animus to explore the close-but-not-too-close futuristic setting becoming an assassin himself with a bunch of hi tech assassins gadgets but whatever
thats always one of the main complaints you hear about these games too, how fucking dull the future sections are, how the developers haven't took note of that yet is mind boggling

I love those games and have multiple old discs and collects but the compatibility issues are a nightmare so I just want to have them in a steam like steam which I hear is what origin is. I love steam and have used it extensively and what I read on most forums is "don't get origin because EA will shill you." But in this case I specifically want EA games, so I guess my main question is how steam like is origin and how well does it run, basically origin advice thread.

Terrible infrastructure, allowing toxic people and devs to run around and harass people, the entire fucking idea of Steam Trading cards which is basically at fault for drawing a lot of the problems we see now.

Valve is a multi-billion dollar company but they still refuse to put the proper work into fixing Steam's problems. They are just as greedy as EA ( Five figure weapon skins anyone?)

The skin prices that high are decided by the people selling them not valve. If people buy it that's on them.

The highest ive seen was 40 dollars for some dota skins but those are character remodels essentially but i think that's a bit too high.

You say its just cosmatics, but with the amount of money they make off it sooner or later they'll try to give whales and dolphins more incentive to pay more via making them an integral part of leveling or mastering a character like we have in Star Wars Battlefront 2 and the new Need For Speed.

It's never been there and I think valve would be shooting themselves in the foot if they made skins have an ingame impact.
All the bullshit you can buy in TF2 and CS:GO is completely cosmetic. People already pay tons for that stuff. Making it required would scare away a huge amount of their playerbase.

Valve is not EA, don't even go there man.

So parts 1 and 2 of AVGN episode 150 have been released and so far its amazing.

For those who havent watched AVGN in a while, I highly suggest you check this one out as its not a typical AVGN review. It seems like its going to be more of a found footage / documentary type film. I can see this leading up to a big Halloween episode.

A lot of people are speculating as well that this may be the big finale for AVGN and this could end with the character being killed off or just disappearing and never being seen or heard from again.

I concur. I know AVGN now isn't as good as it used to be, but I still enjoy it. I do have to say though this year's episodes seem to have been the best in a long time, I was almost suspicious that he has a ghost writer now for the episodes - which wouldn't be a bad thing. All shows eventually get stale and switching up the production staff can help to put off the inevitable.

So tell me, /vg/, why is it that there are fps players among you who don't play insurgency? Wait, you didn't know about this hyper-realistic, intensely fluid shooter game that was originally developed by active combat personnel?

Then let me tell you. What is now a well polished stand alone game was once a free mod developed with the source sdk. The original dev team included active combat personnel who were fed up with the lack of realism and immersion displayed in modern combat simulators. Counterstrike, Arma, Battlefield, the Tom Clancy series are unrealistic and unimmersive. Insurgency rivals titles such as the Virtual Battlespace developed by the US armed forces in realism, and surpasses it in its immersion.

If you play a shooter game for tactical realism and team play, competition, and to test your abilities, insurgency is YOUR game. I've been an avid fps player since the very beginning, starting with doom and quake, moving on through tactical shooters such as Delta force, top down SWAT, and early Clancy titles.

Fuck battlefield, fuck battlefront, fuck call of duty sideways. You think your gay ass Overwatch is competitive or requires even an ounce of skill? Get rekt. You don't know shit.

Get insurgency and learn what it means to be in combat.

You tout realism in Insurgency without realizing that 90% of the actual military is waiting and planning. You also seem to not realize that building FOB's, waiting for orders, trekking for miles to a good position or getting picked up by a transport squad, all things that the average gamer might think are "boring", makes getting ambushed and being thrust into intense combat that much more terrifying and exciting. No one has any god damn patience anymore, in which case it sounds like Insurgency is perfect for you.

Oh wonderful, that's the main reason i uninstalled the game before, couldn't hear or talk, so I just gave up. I brought it around their first sale a months ago so I might give it another shot. Having people talk to me and look at me like im crazy when I couldn't respond wasn't really a good look.

Also:
>You tout realism in Insurgency without realizing that 90% of the actual military is waiting and planning

This. Squad is the fine line between your games like Insurgency and ARMA. When you hit contact it gets your heart pumping, but you can still go about planning like it's a real OP. Also, IIRC, FOB camping in the rear by non-transport/mortar squads is frowned upon unless you're planning a defense, so everyone in the game is mostly moving to contact instead of reacting to contact.

Lower brackets tend to be made of people who don't know how to help their team or don't care to, so if you're constantly having a bad experience, try grouping up with anyone who communicates/adjusts their strategy.
You'll still probably lose as you'll be against other groups doing the same thing, but it won't be because you were constantly in 1v4s without healing

Welp. I downloaded it on PS4 but it seems to be having numerous issues
Went to training and there was input lag and bot lag, tried to do an AI match but it kicked me for inactivity when I was in the loading screen, tried to do an online match but the same thing happened and when I did finally get into a match I could only see soldier's and tracer's player models so I was basically getting killed by a bunch of ghosts. Somehow still got a few kills though even though they were only on tracer and soldier.
But, even with that I had fun in that match and can see myself liking this game as long as those glitches are only on the freeweekend version. I am going to assume they are since a lot of people seem to be having the same problem over on leddit. The roster is bigger than I thought it was, I always hear this be compared to TF2 so I thought the roster would be smaller. The game looks like it supports a bunch of different playstyles and it will be fun to find the hero that fits me best in each category
I might buy it eventually
For now i'm going to keep trying to get into a proper game

Nah, you gotta either settle for wobbly framerate in the heavier stuff (If you have Gsync this might be fine) or shell out for a TI.

Not every game is Gears of War 4 but that's the example I got with the card. Pretty typical Unreal Engine game, pushing 4k on the box.

What the 1080 does great is 1440 at 144hz, which is slightly too much for a 1070.
Personally I just do what the consoles do: drop render scale to like, 80% It looks worse in a way that doesn't bother me even slightly.
I also have no fucking idea what the point of having a 23" 4k monitor is but it wasn't expensive enough to stop me.

Men like you will likely never have any partners, unless you're resourceful in a certain way, because males procreate at a much reduced rate compared to females.

Star Citizen - worth it or a big fail? by Murmur Furfur - Thu, 16 Nov 2017 12:32:50 EST ID:VKCkZNXB No.710322 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

Does anyone have sources for unbiased Impressions or Preview of Star Citizen?
Any Video you could recommend?

Will Star Citizen be too much of a sim where you need to do busy micromanagement to just perform simplest tasks?

What about the hardware-hunger?
Is it optimized?

Any idea how much the retail will cost?

Is it overhyped?
Too much wishfull thinking?

There is new stuff, pretty impressive graphics and procedurally generated cities (one city)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pw4kpUMMYPs
Hopefully they wont be empty soulless husks with random scripts going off in your vicinity to create a thin illusion of life.
But it pisses me off that theyre calling those things that are clearly just floating there space stations. They even brag that gravity on station is realistically proportionate to distance from surface, so its not zero G, but then as soon you step off the station youre in zero G, floating above a city with zero lateral speed.
Fucking retarded, Ive seen media praising it "wow, from planet to orbit seamlessly, very space", while theres no orbital mechanics and the station is just floating what looks like 30km above the planet.
The fact that they insist on calling it space station means they think we're plebeians that wont know any better, and that theyre not planning on implementing orbits anytime soon.
Still the city looks nice and its huge.
