What's your favorite thing in a video game?

I love unskippable animations, there's really nothing like watching the same 3-5 second clip every single time something happens.

Who am I to decide whether I want to watch something over and over again, the developer put the time and effort into creating those animations so it's only fair (since I'm being entertained by them) that I watch it every single time.

I love it when critically acclaimed games use a repeating 2 second cacophcanous super loud sound clip during an annoying puzzle and make you quit the game and sell it back to GameStop.

I love when a classic RPG series turns into an ARPG where you mash dodge to win. I mean, it worked for Kingdom Hearts right?

I also love when the story just gets so good I stop paying attention. Ah, this is just like reading Metamorphoses by Ovid. If they didn't spend an extra 10k$ on writing this there's no way I could ever enjoy the intrigue of Nation X battling Nation Y over Item A.

When you're doing an escort or follow mission and the NPC is somewhere between your walking speed and running speed
So walking is too slow and running is too fast and you keep having to switch between both
Drives me up the fucking wall

Something I've noticed in a couple of more modern games
>NPC adjusts walking speed to yours
>never actually matches it, so you keep making micro adjustments to the anologue stick
>stops when you pass them and just waits

Also
>NPC you're supposed to escort has a deathwish and charges into every battle like Leeroy Jenkins

oh yeah, it's so great when YOU have to follow an npc, and their default walking speed is slower than yours, and they don't adjust their speed to match yours so when you inevitably get ahead of them they just stop and wait for you.

Of all the games to do this I think Red Dead Redemption actually did it well. A great deal of that game is following npcs around on foot or on horses and listening to exposition and it never once felt like a chore or that I had to adjust speed. Idk why every game can't do it it's obviously not hard to make npcs walk at a non retarded pace.

In Rdr it specifically matched the speed of your AI allies when on a horse if you held A/X
