Richard Burns Rally - the Dark Souls of racing games, is the best rally game ever made, possibly best driving sim, or even sim in general. It could be in top 20 things ever made by man, up there with da Vinci and Kojima, its that good.
Physics, handling, tracks, cars, immersion, force feedback, fun factor, everything is miles above the pedestrian by comparison Dirt Rally. Graphics are OK, perfectly atmospheric, not even for an old game, with the upshot being high framerate on most cards.
If you think Dirt is a fun game and rallying is a fun concept, or if you just like driving cars, you should definitely check it out. Its best with a force feedback wheel, but playable with twin stick controller if youre good.
And the best part, since its technically abandonware (no one is trying to claim revenue off this trademark, so even if you wanted to, you couldnt pay for it), you can legally download it in the interest of cultural preservation, or with the intention to purchase the product when it becomes available (trust me, Im a doctor). Get your free game here:
You can also torrent it. Its reccommended to go for RSRBR mod pack as well:
it adds tons of content and makes everything super sweet and magical. Enjoy

RBR is great but you should try the FIA GT Racing I&II.

So I've finally tried GTR 2 and its shockingly good. Force feedback is just as pronounced and comprehensive as in RBR, but much more polished. I had no idea that my old Logitech Driving Force GT could do what its doing there, from gentle vibration to buttery smooth oscillation as you hold the car through the corner, its phenomenal.
Best recommendation ever.
