Some reason made me think of this lost gem, Hardwar

I had to modify the INI for the installer just to get it to install on my drive, because it couldn't comprehend the modern size. Was worth it though. It's only maybe 20 hours but all 20 are solid gold. Progress in this weird spacetown, various upgrades and so on, run trade missions.

Would recommend. It's abandonware actually if anyone's interested. I'll do the INI fix if it doesn't work for someone: http://www.old-games.com/download/4294/hardwar

Everyone goes on about Goldeneye for N764, but I rarely see this gem mentioned, IMO the best Bond game by far, and one of the few games that gets multiple play styles right (driving, stealth, third-person shooting, and using gadgets). That and the great levels and locales, everything about this game was good, except maybe the ridiculous story involving an army clad in platinum taking over Russia, or whatever...still better than the story to Die Another Day..

I found it very hard too, and it controlled awkwardly. It was a cool idea and really unique. You had to change into your super evil twin to do certain things and that was great, and the characters, like the elephant on the swing, were great, and it was quite creepy too.

Urban Chaos Riot Response, the PS2 not being known for FPSs had this one on there where the gimmick was that you had a riot shield that could block any gun fire. It had some pro authoritarian shit so I never finished it, but you had the main missions then you had challenge missions where you had to get x amount of points in a limited amount of time and that would unlock more gear.

It got high reviews and sold well. I thought it did alright for a WayForward game.

I'm still mad at Jim Sterling for his shit review. complaining the game was "too hard" and unfair when it's obvious he just sucked at the game. He has no problem loving Dynasty Warrior games even though they're boring and repetitive as shit and giving Hellblade a 1/10 cause of that one bug. What an ass.

My issue with Jim is he actually does a good job at reviewing games for the most part, but every now and then and he gives a very unfair review to a recently released, well received game just to attract attention to himself. I get it, he's playing a character and his aim is to piss off Nintendo fans or indie fans or anyone who's enjoying a popular game. but there are people out there who are not aware of his shtick and they actually take what he says seriously. I do my own research, but a lot of people i know don't and when they look up a game review of a popular game they're curious about, he's going to be the first one they'll find cause of how controversial his review is. He acts like he deeply cares about video games but all he cares about is his cringeworthy youtube channel.

Pretty much.
You have factions and character classes within those factions, and one aspect of it that I love is that even in a post scarcity civilisation where you literally have Star Trek style replicators, and stores are just a reception desk and a 3D printer, people still fight over mostly meaningless differences in ideology, mostly for bounties they spend on furni and interior decoration for their horrid concrete apartments.
And did I mention the hideous polygon strippers?

Yeah ok, Lets forget the fact that it only happened to a small number of people and the developers fixed it within the first week and they also worked with him to fix that problem with his save. A 1/10?? really? you only give a 1/10 to a game that exist but doesn't actually start. He played it and was enjoying it until he got to that point where his game crashed. that 1/10 is just him lashing out at the developers for having that bug, not an actual review of the game. If he actually cared about the consumer, he would've told the truth. That he was enjoying the game but he ran into a bug that deleted his save, he gives whatever he played the score it deserves and increases the number to what he thinks is right after they fix the game.

if you wont pirate games on a dead console you'll never play some of the best ones it has to offer. if you really want to support the dev buy a newer game by the same people for a modern console afterwards. Without a flash cart I never would have played Fire Emblem New Mystery of the Emblem or The Nameless Game.

Speaking of which those are relevant to the thread. Go play em, New Mystery of the Emblem is way better than the crap they released on 3DS. The Nameless Game is this odd survival horror title that centers around a haunted NES game, it's really pushes the graphical capabilities of the console.

I just don't like it. I don't like playing games i pirated. I feel dirty just thinking of all the fun im having without actually paying the people who made the game. People worked Fucking hard to make these games. Doesn't matter how old It is, you've got no right to just take a copy without paying the asked price. It's probably because I know people who work in the industry that I can somewhat understand what it takes to make a game. People like you think they just grow on trees or something. To me, gog.com is a God send, and I use it to buy and play all the games I missed out on during my childhood guilt free. And it's really fucking cheap. You really have no excuse to behave the way you do, so I really don't give a shit what you think.

You see the issue is the developer isn't going to see a single penny of the "asked price" when you're buying it third party. All you're doing is lining the pockets of some NEET weeb. While I understand your concerns with piracy is it really worth it to pay more than the game was originally worth to someone who had no involvement in making it? Like others in the thread have said if you really want to support the devs you'd just buy something new, something they can actually profit from. Fuck, just pirate the game and cut the devs a check if that's how you'll fall asleep at night.

Sure, C&C hasn't been forgotten, but Tiberian Sun has been.

And it was so unique. Pretty much the only RTS I ever played where you had a big horror vibe. Even if you were winning the match, it always felt like you weren't in control - given that you're fighting in a toxic wasteland slowly mutated by alien terraforming organisms, filled with environmental dangers that can turn your own soldiers in mutant beasts that can chew through entire tank divisions.

Geez pirating games, if I pirate a game and I like it enough im probably going to buy. I get where you're coming from though, but at the same time its just stealing files. I got a question though for pirate haters, what about translated roms? Is it bad to download those? Like mother 3 or smt 1 amd 2 for snes. As an American im probably never going to play those games legitimately in english. Sure you can donate to the translators. But I don't even feel bad about pirating games, which I don't really do anymore because Im not a broke teenager. I don't really see how someone could feel guilty about pirating games, grow a pair, theres way worse crimes in the world.

That's what im saying, I can't afford to buy the game because of scalpers.still though, I'm prepared to pay the amount of a newly released game to a scalper if I'm really desperate to play the game. The scalper did buy the game so my money isn't going directly to the developers but it does have an effect on the market.

>>715233
Well, I can't say I don't play hacked roms. Pokemon uranium and reborn are my favorite. And I probably would've never had the chance to enjoy Valkyira Chronicles 3 if people didn't pirate the game and translate it. I don't want a Japanese copy of the game just collecting dust but I do try to support the game in my own, buying a figure or random merchandise like the artbooks or the Soundtrack. I ain't a pirate hater, I just don't pirate games. I know some people say they pirate games cause they can't afford them but I honestly dont believe them. Sure, you can't afford playing a recently released videogame but if you just wait six months you can't pick it up for half the price. We consume videogames really quickly now, so just don't expect to play a new released game on release just wait a while. I'm still waiting for the new Wolfenstein game to drop in price and I'm sure I'm pick it up for even less than half the price in the next Steam sale.

When I steal the game, it will effect someone else who worked hard to make it, and it hurts the industry i care deeply about. Making a game is a long process that takes a lot of effort from multiple people over a long period of time. For me to just simply grab a copy and disregard the years of hard work these people put into their game is just not me. I can't do it. What's right is right man. I never said it gave me the right. But your taking that holier than thou attitude against pirating and coming off pretty douchey about it. And have you worked on a game? Because earlier you just said that you know people in the industry, but never said anything about being in the industry yourself. I know some of what goes into video game making, I used to watch G4 all the time. I know its a long hard process, especially for those poor overworked japs. But as I've said before, if I pirate a game I usually end up buying it. Honestly I don't know why im arguing with you. Ive talked to you before and we like a lot of the same things. This game really resonated with me as a kid. Pretty much all the Quintet games (ActRaiser, Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma, etc.) are great hidden gems, but this one still stands out.

It's got a great, dark atmosphere. Every new town starts out dead and desolate, but as you gradually restore life to the area it fills with interesting new people and animals to talk to. The soundtrack is filled with excellent classical inspired melodies. The combat is fun and challenging. It's a shame no one but me and a couple of random nerds on the internet seem to know it exists.

I remember renting it at Hollywood video back in the day, I was a stupid kid though, and because it wasn't final fantasy I didn't really give it a chance. Im gonna have to play it now. I didn't know it was the sequel to Koudelka, for some reason that game used to scare the shit out of me.

See I never played the original, but the original seems to be a lot more well loved and the flaws of the sequel make me think there's probably a good reason for that. I still think it's really worth playing if you like action RPGs with light platforming though, very Kingdom Heartsy but with less repetitive combat once you start learning lots of new moves.
I really wanna play the original Musashi, it's a little on the expensive side now though and I'm a bit apprehensive about ordering disc only copies online even though they're way cheaper.

I never gave a shit about Everquest either but Champions of Norrath is a phenomenal game. I have such fond memories of that game. Back then I was really into Diablo but since my PC was basically a microwave with a mouse and keyboard, I could only rock out on my ps2. Definitely check it out if you get the chance. Speaking of Dark Alliance, i just recently picked it up for five bucks at Goodwill but I still haven't jumped in. Does it hold up?

Dude just emulate it. Unless you're like Four and have a vagina about pirating. Its a decent game, but I wouldn't spend more than 20 bucks on it. Looking on Amazon the cheapest is $30, not really worth it in my opinion. Also Musashi is Izzy from digimon, so that was kind of annoying.

Maybe not as obscure as a lot of games ITT, but I feel like people have forgotten this series, and this gem, after that 2012 travesty of a reboot and all the controversy around EA in recent years. They really did make good games at one point.

So much fucking content on this tiny little disc. I remember just being blown away that you could ride from the top of the mountain all the way to the bottom without any loading screens in between, shit took like half an hour. Awesome soundtrack too.

Goddamn, I was fucking pissed when I first read more details of this game.

When I first read the title "GoldenEye: Rogue Agent", I thought how cool a prequel of sorts to GoldenEye would be where you played as Alec Trevelyan and learned more of why he went rogue.

Instead, it was about some random agent going against MI6 who got outfitted with a "golden eye".

Bait and switch tactics at it's finest.

That game was hyped to no end, what a disappointment it turned out to be. I mean I can't really judge, I played the first level and never picked it up again, but right off the bat it was just a generic shooter but with pretty graphics. It felt like a step back, given that EON did so many different things so well. You're right, the goldeneye title is so stupid, just so happens to be the title of the most beloved Bond game ever and the goldeneye in goldeneye wasn't a literal "golden eye." Great marketing EA. I can think of few games I cared less about in the first few minutes. I got Timesplitters Future Perfect around the same time which put RA to even more shame. Sadly thanks to EA's efforts, or lack thereof, the Bond franchise is basically dead.

And he's the one spamming top tier magic and he just stunlocks you to death with dragon's breath GG you lose.

Great game but the final boss is total bullshit.

I liked creatures 2 too. I don't think anyone forgot it. The series just did what it could have and there was nothing more tech could do with it that would actually add substance. Its almost at the point where you could play it on your phone though. Just need a little more screen resolution.

Plus when you hatched a female creature and she turned into a Grendel beating rape machine it was hilarious.
