You all know how this goes by now yada-yada bump limit reached and all that. Post what the fuck you're playing ya jabronies.

Currently playing through Elex. Not the most polished game, it's made by 20 or so people and it really shows sometimes. Despite how janky it can be I'm really enjoying it, much more than the average RPG that comes out these days.

Decided to play Witcher 1 again (Played it in 2009, it constantly kept crashing so I just gave my disk to my friend) , got it on the winter sale. The story is fun and the combat isn't bad at all, but there feels like there's a lot of padding due to the fact you have to leg it back and fourth everywhere. It gets tiring. It's my same complaint with Dragon's Dogma. Other than that, no complaints so far.

I had a dream last night that I was playing an open world xavier renegade angel game. it was somewhere between elder scrolls and grand theft auto, with really jagged ps2 graphics and intentional frame rate issues and graphical glitches. the towns would follow logical patterns but once you got into the desert there was no way to tell where you were going and you'd just end up in some other random town after you wandered long enough. I don't remember there even being a point to any of it. I caused a lot of chaos and then the dream just sort of ended.

Not that guy, but no, the game is just that short. The concept is neat, the gameplay is fun, the story is alright. Just nowhere near enough to justify the full asking price.

Finally picked up M&B Warband and the 2 main expansions. Started with Viking Conquest, thus beginning the tale of the Irish Pagan Paddy O'furnitchur.

Any good mod recommendations are appreciated.

Playing through hexcells again, it's quite nice and meditative.
I'm stuck right now though, last time around I remember I just made a guess and went from there, but this time I'm only making moves I know I can do logically, and I can't really see somewhere to go from here. Marked the alternatives I see, but there's really nothing to say that one is correct on any one.

I like Prophesy of Pendor - just adds a shitload of new stuff to do to the game, and some obscene battles and whatnot. Also, go into the settings.txt, up the battle size to 500. Save often, enjoy massive battle simulator!

>Tales of Berseria

The ending was wildly gay, but it wasn't a bad game. It was ight, compared to other Tales of games I've played: Vesperia PS3, Abyss, Xillia 1 and 2. I appreciate the fact that this story was heavily inspired by Berserk lol. At least it's one more game slashed off from my ridiculous backlog.

I'm still waiting for my Nintendo Switch, so I'm just eager to start Super Mario Odyssey or Breath of the Wild.

it's a free game on steam that is basically a 4v4 MOBA game but with XCOM style turn based controls

Been playing some Until Dawn.
It's really fun and an interesting format, though I'm pretty terrible at quick time events.
My only complaint is that occasionally something will pop up that is similar to a quick time event, and you have the option to not do it but it kinda makes you seem like you don't. I've made mistakes by doing the thing.

So I got to the point where I can go to Novingrad but I still have a ridiculous, and I mean RIDICULOUS, amount of stuff to do in Velen. I'm like 20 hours in so I'm wondering just how long this game is, what is the average completion rate in hours for you guys?
I literally haven't even explored half of Velen yet, so many side quests, so many contracts and the map is riddled with question marks, plus I haven't even visited several notice boards yet so thats going to add to the amount. I am so excited to get exploring today.
I think I might make a quick small trip to Novingrad though because apparently theres a bank there that can exchange those coins that aren't crowns into crowns and I can really use the money.
On top of that I've been pretty much ignoring Gwent this entire time because I didn't fully understand it, the game didn't exactly to a great job of explaining it. But after watching like five minutes of a video on youtube I fully understand the game now so I've got to backtrack to merchants and buy all the cards I can. Been getting fucking rekt all over the place because of my piddly little starter deck, its a fun little game within the game though and adds even more to do in this massive fucking world
Another question is do you guys even bother crafting in this game? I feel like just buying the wares and selling all your crafting ingredients to the right people is more profitable. Armorers and blacksmiths pay good money for that kind of shit. Of course stuff like the witcher gear is an exception but that goes without saying, and also things like oils and bombs but once you do that once you don't need to again

I dont know about the average but it took me 90 hours to finish the base game with a good chunk of the side missions done, especially the Witcher contract. Hearts of Stone and Blood and wine dlc is probably around 30 hours of gametime each so you get a good chunk of content from them. Its a long ass game but i never felt the content repeated itself. Also the gwent is a good distraction from the base game so i prefer playing when im tired of it all.
The Witcher gear is the best gear out there, and the most balanced gear is the Wolf set. Best Armorer is in Velen and the best swordsmith is in Novigrad. The Wolf set is a free dlc though, not in the game but you have to download it. Once you create it it doesnt stop their, you keep upgrading the armor and sword so its a good investment to get into early since its also costs alot of gold and require weird material mostly from monsters you have to hunt. If you meet another Witcher from the cat or bear school and sees you wearing their armorer they will crack a joke since its obvious you're from the wolf school. Once you get your wolf gear, just sell everything else since their quality is nothing compared to a Witcher's gear.

The concept of BattleRoyale has been around for ages in movies and books. The idea of Pubg devlopers claiming other studios are stealing their idea is the joke here. Sure they popularized it (in China) but i dont think any game that tries to implement a popular mode like BattleRoyale into their game should ever feel like they're stealing someone else's idea.

>Super Mario Land 2 DX hack
this really breathes new life into an already good game. Throwing in luigi was a nice touch as well. It was never quite as great as SMB3 or World but it was so damn unique you didn't notice. It was fun as hell even if losing all of your shit on a game over was frustrating. it took me so long to beat the last area when I was a kid lol, they were clearly trying to artificially extend the gameplay time, but now we have save states so nyeh nyeh. Gotta be fair and put em at actual in game check points though. For me, it's probably the third best 2d mario platformer (fourth if you count yoshi's island 2 or super paper mario).

Why not? Paladins is a really entertaining game. Its game modes are also unique. The only people who claim it's an Overwatch clone are those who have not played both games, and just look at the obvious character ripoffs, which are actually more funny than annoying because of how brazen they are.

It's quite its own game. I'm sure their take on battle royale will be unique as well

I bought overwatch not too long after they did they free weekend back in november I think it was, been playing it off and on. I still haven't figured out which characters I play best as but I've been having fun
What I like most about this game is no matter how awful you are there is still something you can do to help your team and let me tell you I am absolutely fucking terrible at this game. That doesn't keep me from having fun or being helpful it though, I tend to go with healers since I'm so bad. I always get the most points as Mercy which I guess I shouldn't be too ashamed of since my teammates seem to appreciate all the healing and reviving I do, plus when I do play as Mercy we usually win most of the time.
I'd really like to get good with Tracer though because she is really fun to play. Torbjorn is another one I could see myself maining since you can be helpful with the turret/handing out armor but also I have gotten a good amount of kills with him, his projectile type weapon just makes sense to me. same goes for Mei and her icicle shot

Playing through Grim Dawn now on my second character actually. Ridiculous how OP one can get when you understand how to build.

Had some issues with The Witcher 3 last thursday, I got to the part where you take a boat to Skellige and the game would get stuck saying "please wait for required content to download" or something like that not moving an inch from 0% I even left it overnight
Took it back to gamestop, got a refund and ordered a brand new one off amazon. I'm usually all for used games because i've never really had any problems with them but this kind of turned me off, I was really enjoying W3 until it pooped out
Anyways I got the new one today thankfully it was available for prime so I didnt have to wait too long. I did a fresh install earlier just to make sure and everything seems to be in order now so I'm very happy

Bloodborne. I'm taking my time and exploring as much as possible, making sure I don't miss anything. Good lord this game is so fun. I'm still in Yharnam, but just beat Cleric Beast. Pretty fun, if not fucking obnoxious boss fight. But I did kill him my first try. He just kept pulling fucking moves where I couldn't get in there to hit him without him swiping me real quick and punishing me. In the end I got him down to about 1/3 health and ran down to my last health potion and somehow ended up getting a lucky ass visceral attack on him taking him down to like 5%. Threw in a few wild swings, even missing one, and just barely got it by the skin of my teeth. I ended up with 0 blood vials left and about 10% health.
Pretty fucking intense and fun fight.

Also, Yharnam is really well designed. If this has anything to say about how the rest of the world is designed then I'm gonna fucking love it. It kinda reminds me of DkS1 level design at this point. It's really great how you progress so far then look back and realize where you are and were, and that you could see the path the whole time you just didn't have a clue where to go.
I also love how little this game has told you. I haven't felt like this since I first got into Dark Souls 1. After that, I knew the formula and in general what to expect from the series. Plunging into this just kinda reminds me of that all over again. They give you the basics but you really don't know the mechanics and you have no fucking clue what the world is and have to build it up yourself by reading lore and talking to NPC's.
Also, so far the NPC's are really interesting. Not to mention how fucking cool and spooky the world is.

So far I've been going blind except I watched a few videos for tips on fight mechanics and got some other tips. The game is pretty complex in a kinda weird but cool way. Yeah. Back in the days of MGSO I got 15-20 fps in Balmora. I mean what the fuck that is some shit optimization.

Best to do as clean GFX-modding as you can. The Watercolor texture mod is great for this. It hides the shortcomings of the vanilla, while staying atmospheric and close to the original look. Never ever download "HD" texture packs for Morrowind. What you'll get is a patchwork of varying quality and generally textures which doesn't fit the aged vanilla game itself.

I got this game a month ago so I'm only like level 20 and not too great at it but when I get into a game with players of similar level it's always fun, then these fags have to come in and ruin everything and make it super obvious that they're smurfing by having overwatch related names when they're in the first 10 levels

Just use another one before you land
Or get a cheap slowfall/levitate potion/scroll/spell
Honestly those scrolls are just a microcosm of what was so great about Morrowind, right on the path most people take to get to the first quest has 3 scrolls that look like a joke item but allow you to sequence break and explore on your own, along with a nice nifty shock dagger and some exquisite clothing and that sweet colovian helm to boot. All falling from the sky with a loud ass scream to help draw your attention to it.

First time i played Prey, i thought it was amazing. I just finished it for the second time and thought it was kinda Mediocre. Not really sure what happened.

I thought this game had good replayability value to it but it kinda doesn't. Once you learn how the mimics behave, they are really not much of a challenge. First time i played it i did on hard, and i liked the feeling of not know what to do and feeling like the prey rather than the predator. But now that i know the game it just kinda feels shallow. Maybe i shouldn't have played it back to back like this, I probably should've played something different first. Still, i was almost confident the game was the best of 2017 for me but now not so much.

Beat Until Dawn.

This is the first story game that I've been interested in enough to actually beat. And it was really fun. The horror story writing was great and the complex actions, consequences and directions the story can take was really pretty immense. I beat it with only 2 survivors. I made a lot of mistakes lol. I've read that you can beat it with everyone surviving if you make all the right choices, or you can have nobody survive and have a bad ending.
I'm gonna play it again with some of the knowledge I've gained and try to have more survive.
Also, I got a super rare trophy for doing some really fucked up shit that only 3% of players have done. That was pretty funny.

So when infinite first came out I bought it, tried it and hated it. I think I got up to the point where you get shock jockey and ended up dropping it. It came with the collection so I decided to give it another try and I'm enjoying it more than I did back then
I think I might have just been salty about all the drastic changes they made from the first two games. Voiced protag, only two weapon slots, having a follower etc. but right now i'm having a good time playing with it. One thing that I recognized even back then was the amazing atmosphere that although was a complete 180 from the original two was still very engrossing and well thought out. The two weapon slots still kind of bugs me but it keeps you on your toes during combat along with the inability to store health packs and salts like you could with med kits and plasmids in the first ones. I still think they tried to make it more shooter-ish but thats not necessarily a bad thing because the combat is usually pretty intense while keeping the areas fun to explore when not in combat sections
I also still think elizabeth is a little bit of a cheap mechanic, idk if its different on harder difficulties but shes throwing me ammo, health kits, and money constantly I feel like I will never run out. More often than not I have more silver eagles than I know what to do with partly because of her, only thing I really ever get low on is lockpicks.
On anoher note this game has a whooooooole lotta racism, but i'm not hating on it because it seems like a pretty integral part of the world and story.

Finally giving The Surge a shot. Definitely a prime example of Eurojank. I'm liking it though, quite a lot actually.

It's weird because I'm not really a fan of the Dark Souls series, which this game is often compared to (although then again it seems like almost any kind of hard ARPG is compared to that series, nowadays). I beat Demon's Souls back in the day but overall the series didn't do a lot for me. I think part of it is just how cryptic, piecemeal, and secondary the story of Dark Souls is, it just didn't resonate at all with me. I get that most people probably don't play DS for story anyway, but if I'm going to invest in any RPG I expect at least a modicum of effort in that department.

I can't tell yet how the story of this game is (only about halfway through and there's still a ton of mystery and loose ends) but so far it's at least got me paying attention to characters/audiologs/etc., rather than completely tuning out whenever some kind of halfassed exposition happens.

Only real complaint I have so far is that the game does a really piss poor job of explaining its controls to you. Now, I get the whole "it's supposed to be hard" shtick these games have, but usually that's through gameplay difficultly, not the artificial difficulty of playing through half the fucking game before finding out that Q (block) + scrolling your mouse wheel at the same time causes you to dodge up and down (jump and duck, respectively). Like, how am I supposed to know that? What other game in the history of mankind has had a Q + mousewheel combo for anything?

Controls in games like these need to be more plainly advertised, I see no reason at all why they should be hidden; you can't even roleplay that shit, I mean it's not like my character knows how to smash robots in elaborate, acrobatic combat combos, but somehow forgot how to duck.

Jesus, Prey on Nightmare is insufferable. Cant hunt down the Weavers in space when the Operators keep stunning me, the Typhoon Balls keep exploding in my face, and the fear effect making me go in circles. You know a difficult setting is just bullshit when 'you will not survive' is in the description. Still pretty good game, just kinda wish the difficulty was better thought out then just plain annoying. I would call it the best of 2017, except on my second run its just way too easy. You know how in Dark Souls, your second run is really easy compared to the first cause you know whats going to happen and what you need to solve the problem? Its kinda like that. Good game, except it has a really low replayabilty value. At least in Dark Souls you can switch to a mage and that kinda keeps it a bit interesting, in Prey you just have one way to play it even though it it boasts on how you can approach a problem in multiple ways. You can either go through the air duct, or find the key card. Big whoop.

This level is making me want to jump out the window. Either I give this one last attempt once I come back from the gym, or I just move on to Breath of the Wild. Mario Odyssey was spectacular, it feels like a spiritual sequel to Mario 64, but fuck this level.

I love that level, and hate its guts at the same time. It's easily the hardest gauntlet in the game just by virtue of the number of sections, and no room for failure since it sends you right back to the start. It almost seems impossible at first, but after dozens of attempts you start getting a little further each time, and once you finally beat it the wave of relief you feel climbing that tower feels so good. The difficulty curve of the segments are so well paced, too. It eases you into it, gets harder and harder, gives you a brief reprieve in the middle, ramps up the difficulty again, and then closes with a nice denouement. Mario games are masterfully paced.

My friend gave me PUBG for christmas and it's spread like a virus throughout our group. I've racked up nearly 20 hours in the past few days. It's janky, buggy, nearly unacceptably awful bullshit, but it's doing Battle Royale better than anything else out there right now. When it's good, it's amazing, but when it's bad or you get unlucky, it's miserable.

I've also been playing some VR games on and off.

>>713062
It's a bitch, but the rest of the game is so goddamned easy that it felt like a breath of fresh air.

That being said, it's nothing compared to 3D World's final level.

Deus Ex Mankind Divided is free for PS+ members this month.

This game is fuckin legit. I haven't played any of the previous games but so far this one is dope.

The whole cyberpunk setting is great, the story is awesome, the gameplay is so fun. I love that you can play it however you want. It's so much different and more complex than other stealth games.

Is this the genre that I've heard is called Immersive RPG? Whatever you call it, it's fun as fuck.

"Immersive Sim", but yeah. Sometime also called Looking Glass (after the devs who pioneered the genre) or 0451 games (after a ubiquitous Easter egg found in many of them).

Mankind Divided was pretty great, despite some awful performance problems on PC, and a story that serves more as the setup for a third game (that probably isn't happening anytime soon) than a stand alone experience like Human Revolutions (which you should absolutely be playing first).

Check of the original Deus Ex, Prey, Dishonored, and System/BioShock too.

I'll probably get Human Revolution for PC after I finish this. There was a 12 minute recap/intro video at the beginning of this game, so I might have spoiled the story a bit but I'm sure it's still fun. I don't think I'll ruin the experience by playing the most modern game first, if anything that might be a good way to get a noob into the series.
I'm playing this on ps4 and haven't noticed any performance issues except 1 glitch where I couldn't drag a body because his arm was glitched out which got me busted.
I'm taking this slow and enjoying it. Taking in the atmosphere and whatnot.

Holy shit, this beta has been awful as fuck in regards to servers, and the last we heard was around 3 this afternoon that "we're working on it" and the beta ends at 3 EST/12 PST.

Even Bungie had more updates when their game went down for forever on like day 2 than these guys.

I got to play the tutorial, so I did "play" the game aka the tutorial, but not as it was intended.

I'm still pre-ordered it on PC because what i did touch was fun as hell.

Alright, I take that back, I did get some matches in and the game is fun. It's amazing to pull off a comeback when you're down 3 to 1. Game is fun and when you get someone with a good connection, netcode is really good. I think it uses a rollback netcode, but i'm not sure.

It's a 4 button fighter, but that's fine by me, a game this flashy doesn't need 80 different buttons to pull off one combo and it also has auto combos until you can string together some good stuff.

All in all, a fun game. I suggest you pick it up. Not a day one buy, but do think about it down the line if you're a DBZ fan or just want a semi-mindless fighter to roll through. ArcSys did this franchise well.

I don't know anyone who would be interested in sitting through the entire game with me. Still im not saying it's not fun, just really easy and i doubt having other players would effect that. Im in the last world and almost done with the game. I bought it at a discounted price so i can't really complain. Last two games i played on the wiiu was Shantae half genie hero and Donkey kong tropical freeze and they were wayy better. For a Mario game, i expected more.

2018 is going to be the year of platformers for me. Most of what i did last year was fps so im thirsty for some good simple fun. Best platformer i ever played was Rayman Origin and legends and im looking forward for a game to best them. I highly doubt it, there is a certain charm to french wackiness in Rayman that i dont think any game would beat, plus solid game that kept me having fun and laughing all the way to the end.

This fucking bland piece of shit, because I decided the best way to make the most of my last week before grad school is by turning off my brain and just grinding through a bunch of MMO quests. The writing is formulaic and often laughably bad but the dialogue choices (and KotOR nostalgia, however much they bastardized it) add just enough for me to look past all the other stale MMO stuff.

Also I've been eyeing the Euro Truck Simulator 2 map DLC despite the fact that I've only played a couple hours of the base game... I need someone to either talk me out of this or into it. It seems like people think the new maps are a lot more detailed and varied than the base ones (?), and maybe driving fake trucks around Norway is what I've been missing from my life. I enjoy some space trucking so it's not too much of a stretch.

I'm not sure how I feel about this game. The Isolated Plateau quest has got to be the most boring tutorial I've ever played. Occasionally this game pulls me in, but it's not doing much for me. I don't even dislike it either, but right now the game feels sort of lifeless. On top of that, I'm a little bit turned off by how Nintendo added realistic elements to the game.

I'm also playing this and I'm enjoying it. My only issue with it so far is the combat takes some getting used to, it felt like forever before I even tried actually dodging. lol Even then I'm still getting my shit pushed in every now again, sometimes making myself facepalming with how dumb I was for dying. Although I'm loving how open the game feels, even with the main quest making it seem like a linear path it feels like I could at any moment say "Fuck it" and go on my own adventure if i wanted.

Its great man. Once you get the hang of it, the gameplay feels really fun. Just don't get too attached to any weapons or anything like that. Link is the weapon, the idea is to face your enemies as the combat happens. It feels great beating a big monster with a special weapon you picked up from one of the dungeons and then proceed to beat the rest of the group with a stick that happens to be nearby.
Personally i was very happy with it once i got used to it. I get way too possessive over weapons and ammos, and its not strange for me to end up not using a weapon all the way to the end. Like i never actually used the BFG in DooM until the final boss. So when BotW weapons started breaking i actually freaked out and wanted to drop the game, but now i feel like it cured me from my hoarding game habits.

I picked up Mario Odyssey because I kept hearing how essential it is for any Switch owner. Last Mario game I played was Sunshine so I didn't have high expectations, yet I'm still dissapointed.
It's a lot of fun and the controls are great but it's so damn short and easy. I bought on the 17th and I'm already halfway through the Luncheon Kingdom which is one of the last "normal" worlds. And I work full-time so I'm only playing in the evenings.

There's plenty of post-game stuff to do I suppose but still, I kinda expected more.

I guess the lesson learned here is to always be wary of the hype, especially when it comes to brands like Nintendo that has a lot of loyal fans buying everything they release. I lucked out with Breath of the wild and it turned out to be a good game, but the two Mario games i played were lackluster to say the least and they were both Essential Nintendo select games. If Nintendo fans hype a game to crazy amount, calling it the best game in all gaming history than its probably safe to assume that its an OK game.

I started a new Witcher 3 save after finding out that if you're 5 levels above the quest recommendation you get like 2 fucking XP upon finishing them. I saved up a bunch of quests and figured I would do them when I was ready to leave the area but I guess that was a bad idea. If the game ever tells you about this I must have not been paying attention and I'm kind of annoyed but really its not so bad, this gives me a chance to start fresh knowing everything I know about the game now, what I should loot, what I should and shouldn't sell, and it also gives me the chance to fine tune exactly how I want my character and their perks.
I'm aware of the potion that lets you redo your levels but it seems that theres very few of those in the game, like 1 or 2, so I was saving that as a last resort anyways.
I'll probably end up with a better more well rounded character when I get back to where I was in my other save

Also a question for those who have played:
Is Ciri ever a romancing option? I didnt' get to the end on my other save and I'll be pretty disappointed if shes not because I find her to be the most attractive out of all the females in the game. I got up to the part where you have to go find her in the isle of mists I think it was called. they really cock tease you with that scene you play where she goes to the bath house
On a related note: anyone else really fucking hate playing the Ciri segments? I rush through them because they're such pointless bullshit besides giving you a bit of her story. You work to get all these weapons and upgrades and improve your signs then in the ciri segments they're gone, a big fuck you

Well its not really that important but its vital to play through if you want to understand the entire story. She gets stronger with each segment and by the end story she's unstoppable and its fun to play with her. But yeah i agree, first time playing through the game i hate the segments too since they pretty much put a hold on the actual game and left me with a story with no choice to make.

Just finished Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

The game was a lot of fun and the mechanics were great. The ending felt a bit flaccid though. Someone here said that it felt too much like they were just setting up for a future game, which I can definitely feel that. It also felt like it ended a little bit too soon.

Regardless of the ending being lackluster, it was a great game and definitely has some replay potential considering the different spec options to choose from. Also, I explored a lot, but I know there was definitely much more to see. I only encountered like 2 or 3 points of interest, so I'm sure I missed out on some side quests.

I went stealth and non lethal first time, if I play again maybe I'll just go full badass and take advantage of Titan and some other cool augs that just didn't really work with the stealth approach.

Darkest Dungeon on the Switch

Still a fun yet grindy game. Controls are a bit complex but it's alleviated by the touch controls when playing portably.

Been checking out some f2p games on ps4. Played a bit of fortnite and it's fun but will definitely take a bit of getting used to.
Also intend to play quite a bit of paladins though it may take some getting used to not using a mouse. I can just play healer until I get better with the joysticks.

If anyone plays these games on ps4, add me. hugs_4_bugs

I just now got it installed on my ps4. When I was playing it I was playing on PC and that was maybe a year ago, I didn't notice any cheaters. But if that's the case now that would be quite sad. I had a lot of fun playing it back then, and I actually really liked the card system as it wasn't too rigged towards microtransactions at the time, idk about now.

Also gonna probably play some paragon too, if anyone here plays that.

Guy who's played Paragon since it started here, don't bother. Game's dead.

Epic has been slowly but surely gutting the game of all the shit that made it worth playing over the past few years in an attempt to make it more mainstream, and then just the other day came out and said "guys we don't know what the fuck we're doing nobody is playing our game pls help".

Like yeah no shit, it's effectively been 3 entirely different games and every iteration dumbed it down more and took away more of what made it special. The worst, IMO, is that the big super jungle buff used to have to be run to a spot on the map to actually claim the buff. Killing the monster just spat out an orb that your team then had to defend and carry to a place where you redeemed it for the proper buff. During all that the other team could kill you, take the orb, and bring it to their local Orb Prime Buff Dispensary to get it instead. You also used to be able to use the orb to bring an inhibitor back so your team had to choose which one would be the most beneficial. Apparently that was too complicated or something because that got nixed.

Since the game came out they've completely redone everything twice over. They have no idea what the fuck they're doing with the game, anybody on the team with any kind of concrete vision has long since gone. They even redid all of the faces for the female characters to make them more attractive in this pathetic bid to drum up the kind of waifu following Overwatch fell into.

Pic related, screenshot I took from when the game was half-decent. Back when I really gave a shit I was in like, the top 0.whatever percent of the playerbase so it took me forever to find a game. This wasn't even that bad, I had to wait ~40 minutes before. Sure, it took eight years to find a game but at least it was a good match. They've since executed the matchmaking to bring down wait times and I went from having to wait that long to getting one almost instantly, but the quality of it fell just as drastically. It didn't even attempt to find people who were around the same skill, it just grabbed fucking anyone and threw them into a game. I might as well have installed a slot machine lever on the side of my computer and used that to decide the outcome instead of playing the game because it didn't fucking matter, it was almost always a stomp. Either they got all the new / bad players or you did.

Oh and since they decided it wasn't making enough money they brought on a guy who works on mobile games and the lootboxes have been fucking absurd ever since, so that's nice.

I’ve been playing Caves of Qud almost exclusively for the past few months. There’s just something about it that keeps pulling me in.

In my current game I’ve spent nearly no time in game as my actual character. I found out that when you beguile a creature, you can dominate their mind(right now my domination lasts for around 700 turns) and your original character will gain XP for any kills your beguiled/dominated creature makes. I found a legendary merchant who, at level 3, had all his stats in the upper 20’s. So I’ve been able to level him up quickly, increasing his stats, and give him a bunch of helpful skills while also unlocking new mutations. Combined with the Inspiring Presence my original character has, the dominated merchant’s health is boosted from his normal 200 or so to over 500hp. So I pretty much use this guy to clear out a ruin or dungeon, all while my original character is safe and sound a few floors up.

Then, when domination runs out, he’s teleported back to me and I have to wait like, 40 or so rounds until I can dominate him again. It’s probably one of the best runs I’ve had so far.

Playing through Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II for the first time right now and it's pretty cool. I played through Dark Forces for the first time last year, which was also pretty cool, but got dickpunchingly hard at the end when the darktroopers started showing up. I played through Jedi Knight II as a teenager and loved it, though, so it's cool to go back and play the first games in the series. The FMV cutscenes in Jedi Knight are an absolute delight, too. I would say what Dark Forces was to Doom, Jedi Knight is to Quake. The improved speed and 360 degree aiming really holds up.

Yeah it's pretty cool so far. Just finished Baron's Hed earlier and I'm on level 6. I didn't understand the Force Powers system so I didn't assign a star to Jedi Speed because I figured "That power sucks, I'm saving my upgrade stars for better stuff". Little did I know that you have to assign one star to get the power so I got to the part in level 6 where you need force speed to get across those timed platforms. God bless old games and their cheat codes, I was able to just turn on fly mode briefly to float across the gap and then turn it off and keep playing instead of loading an old save and have to go through all of level 5 again. I wish I got this on GOG instead of Steam so I would have the digital instruction books, oh well.

The levels really are great, despite some puzzles that force you to go back and forth a lot. I love the Baron's Hed fortress level, on the roof, with the Tie Bombers. Holy lord jesus, I've been doing this so much the past few levels because of how funny it is. I went through that whole level (9, I think?) with the fuel tank puzzle just yanking people's weapons away. frost, spies, and decoys are the key to beating monster decks,
spend the first round spying while he wastes his cards. then forfeit, easy win on 2nd round, continue spying if you have all the spy cards and destroy on 3rd.

Lemmings DOS. I also have the original copy for Amiga 500 but I'd have to get it out of the attic and set up. Still one of the best puzzle games ever made, a huge hit at the time that spawned multiple sequels. Fun fact, DMA design, who made this, went on to make the GTA series. At some point I hit a wall with this game though as there are some levels that require such precise timing.

and thanks for the advice I've learned that if you're going to be up against a monster deck you absolutely HAVE to have a couple biting frosts in your deck otherwise you're screwed. Those muster cards are OP as hell if you can't frost em out

I hate that level because it's so easy. That's the thing, most of the early levels are really, really easy, at times tricking you into thinking there's more to them than there really is, such as one level that has an elaborate design to the right but really just requires you to block as the exit is directly to left under the exit. That particular level in the pic just requires you to dig, and it's annoying and monotonous. Later levels are more frustrating as they require timing, and doing that with the slow cursor selecting among the pixels is a nightmare. Still, it's somewhat satisfying when you do complete a difficult level, it's just that there are some levels where you can't progress, save through sheer luck.

I've been trying out heroes I never play as in Overwatch lately and I've been pleasantly surprised by Sombra and Hanzo
Sombra never really interested me because her abilities seemed kind of boring but she is a fucking blast to play as, her teleported and invisibility gives her a ton of mobility and her hacking can stop heroes like tracer in their paths. Her ult is pretty useful too especially if you have an orisa or reinhardt on the other team that's always being a turtle on the objective. Plus she's one of the only female heroes with a decent default design, most of the others look dumb as shit without a skin idk why that is but sombra has a cool look
Hanzo I thought I would never enjoy or be good with because he's somewhat of a sniper and I am awful at sniping, one of the reasons I never use widowmaker and Ana, but I've been getting a lot of kills with him.
One hero I don't understand at all is doomfist. His recharges are slow as shit, the reload for his knuckle blaster is slow as shit, he moves slow as shit, I don't know why anyone would ever play him but I've seen a few really good doomfist players in matchmaking so he must not be too bad

I dont know. Im bored of overwatch cause the fights always play out the same way. And its always either you're totally dominating them or the other way around, it never feels like a fair fight. You never get to appreciate anything in this game,it feels so dry at times,no space to do anything actually creative. All the maps have been designed to make a the game play out in a certain way that by the fiftieth time "you're like why bother?"
I dont know, some people like this repetitive gameplay but not me.

I can understand that. I just got overwatch like 2 months ago so it's still a bit fresh for me, and I only play like 4-5 matches a day which helps that. Plus I try to switch up my character every match, leading me to not really understand people who have mains. I feel like that would get boring real fast, but I guess that's what puts my in a master of none kind of situation. I'd probably be better if I tried to get a certain character every match but that would not be fun at all for me

Yeah, because the first two cases were painfully obvious what what was what. I only kept losing because the minigames are dumb as shit. A rythem game? Who's this game aimed a exactly??
A broken crystal ball a burned piece of a white tshirt lies next to an incinerator. The gate is closed, and between it and the incinerator a distance of 30feet. Oh my god, i wonder who could aim and throw a ball so well at a button? I wonder who could it be???
His name is literally written on the wall!
Also i hate this shounen shit. everybody got a power that that is somehow related to their case. Also it was really obvious who's the antagonist of the whole Shitshow that just doesn't make any sense. kinda hard to ignore who's obviously going to play an instrumental role in the plot.
Fuck it im just gonna watch the anime when i get bored of other better animes out there.

How are these? I know blood and wine is a whole new area to explore so I'm probably definitely going to pick that up, but what about hearts of stone?
Any new gameplay mechanics or monsters to fight? Any new gear?
Is the questline good or is it like the novigrad quests where you're running around town doing boring mundane shit

Hearts of Stone is just incredible, story-line is honestly one of the best I've played in any video game. If you're gonna get Blood and Wine anyway you may as well get the season pass, it's only like five bucks more.

Oh, and yeah, it adds a few new monsters, gwent cards, and weapons, along with enchanting, which is basically more a powerful version of Runes that you have to pay a ton of gold to get.
IIRC it also adds a chunk of land in the northeast part of Velen, don't recall being able to go there before HoS' release

Ive thought about either getting Psycho Pass or the nonary games because I remember liking 999, which is why maybe I like Danganronpa. I think they're made by the same company. Well, it's not for everyone. Its one of the longer than your average visual novel, and to get a complete picture of what is exactly happening, you need to play all the routes with both characters. Its can be a bit boring at the start, but thats how visual novels are. I guess since you didnt watch the anime, you dont know how the Sibyl System works. I thought it was fascinating, and playing a detective and having to carefully make decisions based on the clarity of your crime coefficient index adds to the fun. In the later chapters, you end up having to take some difficult decisions, sometimes sacrificing a key witness just to keep your sanity intact. It starts up slow, but the decision starts to increase in number and you have to constantly keep a watch on your crime coefficient index, and it gives off a good impression of how stifling it would be like to live in the Sibyl Republic.

I really liked it cause i really the world the game is built in.i would suggest it to anyone who enjoyed the anime, But if you dont have the patience to read through 30+ hours, than its probably not for you.

That games looks really fun and really challenging but I don't think it's something I should get into.

I don't want to end up killing myself over a video game. But maybe if I do change my mind, I'll pick it up.

Also, I gotta imagine that the creator of that game is amazed at how well it's done and all the attention that it's received. It's such a simple concept and kinda pretty much a big fuck you while at the same time being a joke but it works and people apparently love it.

Well personally I can tolerate bullshit in games pretty well, and if the game gets me I just turn it off for the day.
I'd never push this thing on anyone though.

And yeah, the game is basically a big troll and a joke if nothing else. The developer comments on you fucking up with nice comments like "You've done this before, so you know it's possible," and "Don't let it get to you," but you just know he had this big fucking smirk on his face when recording those lines.

But it's really fun, and that's what's important.

It was only 20 bucks and gave me an excuse to finally spend that amazon gift card i've had since christmas, and to be honest I had completely forgot they made a second one until I saw it while browsing through their game section
I enjoyed the first one a lot, even replayed it recently, so i'm expecting to have fun with this one. Does corvo get any new powers/weapons or is it pretty much just the same loadout as the first for him?

Not trying to rag on anyone with bad internet or who still uses discs primarily, but goddamn that sentence is depressing. Can you even install Dishonored 2 on PC or console from a disc on its own? I thought most of them just install a bit and then kick off a huge download these days anyway.

To be on topic, still coming back every now and again to my Pillars of Eternity run. I know this game is long, but it shouldn't take me an actual eternity to beat it. It's just not a great game to play for ~45 mins a few time a week and life is busy, I need to play for 10+ hours some time soon. My party is all level 8 now so I'm jumping into the White Marches expansion stuff. It's cool so far and I want to include this monk guy in my group because he's heckin strong and an interesting character, but I just hate how he has to take damage to be at his best. Maybe in a few levels (read: sometime next year) he'll have so much endurance that I wont even care how much he gets bloodied.

I wonder if you can even have a console without internet anymore. There was such an uproar about the Xbone needed to always be online but thats the case now-a-days. They just backdoor it by making the disks empty shells.

You can't, however, play without the disc (unless you buy digital). I prefer to have the disc anyways because I like having a physical collection of games, not to mention that digital downloads are usually more expensive. Dishonored 2 on PSN right now is 40 bucks
I'd much rather get it for 20 off amazon prime and wait a day or two than pay twice as much

started playing AC and remembered why i stopped playing these games. played like 1-3 hours and have no desire to continue, it was so tedious just exploring the first city and I zoomed out and there was literally 12 other huge cities can't even imagine

game is exact same as ever except now it's in a desert which is the worst environment frankly, BOTW fucked it up too, just huge open area with nothing there. they managed to make riding horses even worse than previously which doesn't seem possible. same douche protagonist "killer but kind hearted and wants to help his people" and same "run here run there" quests

rpg system if you could call it that is completely unecessary imo but not terrible

Its simple, beautiful and very relaxing. The puzzles so far have been kind of easy but I feel like if they were any harder it would take away from the enjoyment of such a chill game. Picked up Star Ocean: integrity and faithlessness

The Star Ocean games put me in a cozy mood, because you actually feel as if you're in an RPG because the characters interact with each other outside scripted events (well things like cutscenes anyway, the Private Actions are scripted but still).

it's not better, but worse? not in a million years. at least xiii had good sequels and didn't have a bunch of dlc.

if you felt confused by xiii's story, all you had to do was read the glossary. for xv, you had to watch a movie and an anime miniseries in order to understand the story. even then, the story is still a trainwreck. look, i wouldn't consider myself a fan of xiii-1. i just think it's insane when people defend xv, given all the problems that it has compared to xiii.

Are 13s sequels worth it? I played a little bit of 13-2 and it wasn't very good, only put in about 10 hours though and I never played lightning returns. Its not that I was confused by 13s story it just sucked. And yea 13s way worse, its the only final fantasy game I had to force myself to beat. The only good thing about tjat series is the music. I actually had fun playing 15, the characters weren't bad, even the ones I hated (Ignis and Prompto) turned out to be pretty cool. Im just glad they made 15, I had been waiting for it since I was like 12 and it was still versus 13. Yea the story pisses me off by how incomplete it is, but its not the worse video game story. Hell im a Tales of series fan and those storylines are terrible, I don't play games for the story but if they have a good one on top of fun gameplay, then thats just a bonus. I think I like 15 alot because im a big kingdom hearts fan, lol those stories were terrible too.

About 12 or so hours in Star Ocean: Intregity and Faithlessness.

I still have a lot to do, to get time frame Private Actions and do the Cathedral of Oblivion before the enemies get pumped up to a higher level, as well as a bunch of quests to catch up on.

The worst part is a bunch of trekking back and fourth and curbstomping weak enemies, man is it tedious.

Still playing Elite: Dangerous. I think I'm one of the only people on here that do.

Reached the rank of Duke within the Empire, and was granted access to the most powerful Imperial ship a player can get, the Cutter. Capable of launching fighters, repairing it's own hull and modules, manufacturing its own ammunition, refueling itself, with heavy firepower, a good jump range, decent armor, incredible speed (for its size) and the most powerful shields available outside of Capital ships. The thing is absolutely brimming with experimental technology, as well.

I played it a while back, haven't really launched it in a while.

Nothing is more terrifying that landing in a system that has a fucking brown dwarf in it. Just when you think you're out of it's zone, your ship stars sparking and death awaits you. I had a mini heart attack when I was doing my shipping runs. Fuck Brown Dwarfs.

Or one of those nebula stars. i got caught in it's tendrils and blew up. Fun enough game though.

Iconoclasts was a very pleasant treat. It was recommended to me from a friend and im glad i picked it up. Played it on the Vita and it looked crisp and played really well. Its a Metroidvania type game with a great story and fun puzzles. Nothing new but what it does, it does very well. I cant really say much about the story, its one of those games its best you play without knowing much about the characters or the world its built in. Overall, i would rate this game a 7/10, it didn't break any new grounds but its a lot of fun for what little you pay for. Its definitly one of my favorite indie games and i would put it up there with the other great indie games like CaveStory or OwlBoy in artstyle and gameplay.

anaconda is fun for multicrewing but I don't like needing a large docking bay.

Dishonored 2 is fun so far but I don't know if I'd call it as good as the first game yet, I have a few key problems with it. I really hate how they changed dark vision in this one, how it "pulses" instead of being constant. The silouettes don't stand out as much either and it doesn't seem like upgrading it helps at all, especially because a lot of these levels have a lot of light in comparison to the first game. I'd also prefer if there was a merchant on the dreadful whale but the black markets, and how you can rob them blind, is pretty cool.
Emily's powers don't seem too appealing save a few, but in dishonored 1 I only used a few of corvos powers too so I wouldn't call that a negative.
There is things I like more about this one than the first though like domino which is very cool and very handy and the ability to craft runes seems like it will also be very useful down the line. Giving the heart the ability to lock runes and bonecharms is such a fucking good decision so you're not having to pull out the heart every five minutes. I also hear that in NG+ you can keep emily's powers but play with corvo and his selection of powers, I can't wait for that.
They should have stuck with a silent protagonist though because most of Emily's dialogue is cringy as hell,

I also finished Rime and thought it was great, very underrated game. Its easy as hell but designed very creatively and the artstyle and music are absolutely beautiful. I'm probably going to replay it sometime to see if I can get all the collectibles without a guide. For a free game I was pretty surprised by how much I enjoyed it, makes me want to try some other indie puzzle games like Journey

My friend and I were talking about HZD. We both agreed that it’s a better open world game than Breath of the Wild. I’m playing BotW right now, and I’m not too crazy about it. Most of the quests feel like some type of chore, and there’s no real sense of progression. I’m definitely going to play HZD again on NG+ with Frozen Wilds.

I had to drop this game right after I beat Ganon. I can't call it a bad game, but it's honestly one of the most overrated games I've played in years. I didn't appreciate breakable weapons, lack of narrative (I have all the captured memories), lack of progression, or the combat. 80% of the time, I usually ignored enemies because engaging with them felt meaningless. I respect BoTW for being experimental compared to the previous games in the series, but I guess I prefer the traditional Zelda games.

I loved BotW but I definitely understand those complaints

I personally enjoyed the breakable weapons forcing me to switch up styles constantly but that's just me

my biggest gripe with it is the dungeons

I think BotW could have been the definitively best zelda game had they implemented even just a small handful of dungeons, especially if the dungeons attempted to keep the overwhelming scale of the world in mind with dungeon design

like I thought I was gonna have to go farming for foods and weapons for days just to have enough health to eat to get through a week long(in game) dungeon crawl

It wouldn't be a Zelda game if it was. You know how you can Mod Skyrim with lore friendly mods that you would think would improve the game but ending up simply changing the game entirely?
Yeah its like that. Some people might wanted more of BoTW because of how fun it but i think its perfect the way it is. Adding anymore dungeons would've changed the feel of the game.
If you wana farm for food and hunt for weapons for days just to raid a dungeon why not play an mmo? I do just that playing FFXIV.

Yeah so much this. The shrines are cool but not at all a suitable replacement, they're an evolution/expansion from the caves with a puzzle and/or goodies from previous games.
Hyrule Castle is the only place that really resembles a proper dungeon. A few more of those would have been awesome.

I still love the game a lot though

Personally I see it this way: Y'know in traditional Zelda games where they'd have different room puzzles in a dungeon and you had to solve them to progress? That's basically the shrines in BOTW, just with the rooms that don't have a puzzle in them and are just there to link to the next one taken out. All the linking rooms have been taken out and added to the overworld instead.

I don't think what >>714789 is saying would change up the sweet sauce they have going at the moment too much if it wasn't as grandiose as they're imagining, however I really think if in the next game they added a few themed large dugeons (Volcano, Mountain, Ocean, Sky, Grasslands, Desert, Forest, Night, Day, etc.) with a themed rune that had a power that corresponded to their theme, as well as keeping the shrines in order to get heart/stamina pieces, they could really be on to something.

Also I really hope we're not going to have to wait 6+ years for a new release and they'll pull a Majora's Mask

I was just thinking about a Majora's Mask spin on the BotW formula, with some proper dungeons, better bosses, and a few clever gimmicks like the mask transformation or time cycle mechanics thrown in to spice things up. Now I can't stop cumming.

I was hoping the Ballad of Champions would be an opportunity for Nintendo to go back and inject a bunch of traditional dungeons into the game, but all we really got was some more good shrines, one cool boss, and a fun horse substitute. It's a solid addition, but basically more of the same. I'm hoping they're cooking up something crazy for the sequel.
