Or more specifically Nepal I suppose. I am somewhat determined to make the trek to base camp and take in the scenery of a vastly different country and incredible scenery of the Himalayas.

But I am stumped when it comes to figuring out how to organize all of this. I've found agencies that offer trips to base camp and back, but there are a lot of necessary costs involved and you're on their time table and not your own. I'd very much like to bumble around the towns and nature a little bit while I am there, and not race to base camp for a day and then leave the next.

How does one go about the logistics and cost analysis for such a journey?

Hmmmm....
Base camp is NOT that great. I have heard it is crowded and the fucking place is filled with trash.

I think watching Everest - Beyond the Limit is a good idea. Really well done series. Fucking insane shit going on up there.

I would look around the web and see what others have done besides the base camp. There has to be a bunch of folks out there who are like, "Yeah, Base Camp is sooooooo 2010..."

Yeah, I don't expect the camp to be much else than a large gathering of resources, ex-resources, and tents. I want to go there for the scenery though; going to Mount Everest has always been an interest of mine. I don't intend to climb it, not in any significant way - just to visit and marvel and experience a country so different from America.

The looking around the web part is where I am more asking for suggestions. I'm sure I could sift through page after page after page of shit and possibly some good info, but I just have no idea where to start, as I've never done my own trip out of country (particularly one to a non-EU country). I figured maybe someone here had a good starting point.

That series is awesome though, I was really into it.

If you want to go trekking, avoid Everest at all costs. Taking people up Everest is pretty commercialised, to the point where it's about whether you can pay, rather than if you're an experienced mountaineer. Base camp is a shithole full of shitheads.

I figure this is probably the right board for this.
I don't want to get into it too much, but now I'm seeing an anti-gun push in America, and I know that once we are disarmed (if that doesn't spark enough chaos itself), we're fucked. I'm not here to argue about this.
I want to move to Iceland, since they kicked out the criminal bankers. It's also stunningly beautiful and I hear much of the populace speaks English at least as a second language. I'm willing to work my ass off and go hungry if I have to, the last thing I want to do is stay in America
How would I go about doing this? I've read I would need to live there for 7 years and learn the language/history. Would I just need to get a visa and renew it until that time? Also, is there any good way to meet some people and make a few friends there online before I went (and not get murdered)?

I've never even been out of the country, but I'm willing to do whatever I have to.

Iceland has stricter gun laws than the US, in common with most European countries.

Also how much knowledge do you have of synthetic Germanic grammar? Icelandic has a level of inflection equal to that of Classical Latin. For speakers of English, it's pretty much thehardest Germanic language, and will require years of study.

With regards to residence permits, you will need to have a recognised skill/qualification that is in short supply in Iceland in order to be granted permission to stay:

To be honest, it's pretty hard for Americans to get work in the Schengen Area and/or EU unless they have already secured a professional job, or have an in-demand technical skill. EU/Schengen citizens will always be preferred, and there are plenty of them to go around.

The most logical way would be to study there, hopefully a non-bullshit degree, and impregnate someone, or study a high demand career here and pray you can get a job and then impregnate someone. Immigrating to Europe is a bit of a pipe dream sorry to say.

I wanna just get to Ibiza, party for a few days then catch a series of trains making it back through Spain and France.
How do you go about planning European travel? Can I get cheaper train tickets?

I'm a welder and i do some of my own work and what not and im pretty good with mechanics.
I love motorcycles and ride a bit but i want to work on my own

I dont know a heck of a lot about the different kinds or their mechanics so i feel silly when talking about this stuff. Are their any books or vids I can read/watch to get to know the different classic bikes and their motors? I want to know everything about them, so i can look at a bike and tell the motorhead beside me that it has a whatever size double header engine and it was specific to that year blah blah blah..

any suggestions on where to start? I'm not looking for a quick way out, just the way..

What are you trying to do? Turn it into a racer? Anything 4th generation and later has front double wishbone suspension.Usually they'll engine swap to a bigger Honda engine than the 1.1 liter engine. Unless it's designed by Honda to be a racer, since they caught on with a 1.6 liter turbocharged engine. The back seat/air conditioner/carpet/soundproofing/sunroof`s motor are removed to reduce weight. The hood/muffler tip can be molded from carbon fiber and hood latch mechanisms removed and replaced with hood pins to reduce weight as well.

Usually the suspension and intake or exhaust will see some aftermarket "performance parts". as well as a good brake job and powder coating of the rims and brake caliper to make it look flashy, as well as a racing seat, short shifter stick, paint and under lighting.

I would give it a tune up. New plugs, wires and oil, check the Transmission fluid and top off or change. Clean the injectors and sea-foam the engine clean.Pressure wash the engine then fix any oil or coolant leaks. Then check out your front suspension and brakes for damage and powder coat or engine enamel spraypaint. If it's got a blown headgasket change it out for a aftermarket performance racing head gasket.
>>
Eliza Worthingforth - Thu, 27 Dec 2012 06:10:26 EST ID:1khP4ua5 No.25306 Ignore Report Quick Reply
Also, since you're rich, you can have your cylinders re bored and porcelain coated with a piston ring job while your changing the head gasket if you want. That will give you more power and life out of your engine when you're over heating it. Older cars there's certain tricks you can do sacrificing emissions control for more power or gas mileage like removing the innards of your catalytic convertor and adding an air filter and bigger carb to let the engine breathe less restricted. With newer cars with fuel injection it's all ran off computers and injectors, so tuning the engine is a dying art unless you hack into the central control module.

>porcelain coated

what the fuck am I reading? ignore this shit OP..

anyway OP it depends what engine you have. what year of civic is it? if it's 92-00s and not an SI it probably has a worthless D series SOHC (1.6L probably). D series is so shit you have to turbo or swap. A cheap turbo kit and some internals could make 250~whp easily and cheaply. If it is a D series, either grab a Greddy kit with a t25 and toss it on..

a friend who knows his shit sent me this a while ago:
vitara pistons
no name H beam rods
arp head studs/rod bolts
chip a p28 ecu, tune with crome.
dsm 450cc injectors
Stock coil is good for around 400whp.
crank is more than fine....

To save packing space, I'm going to wear all the clothes that I want to bring and am able to wear (while walking, sitting down, etc) on the day of the flight. When I get to my destination, I'll take them off and be free of my cloth prison.

I'm gonna be there for 3 weeks or so, and I'd like to have more than a couple shirts and not need to double up a ton. It's not like there isn't nearby laundry, but I'd rather not be doing laundry every few days (planning on doubling up /some/, I just don't wanna double up on the same two shirts for a whole week or so). I'm also not bringing my entire closet, just stuff I think would provide ample variation in terms of temperature, fashion, etc. On that note, I guess this idea is either more or less retarded depending on how much stuff I'm gonna be wearing when going to the airport, sitting in the plane, etc. I'll get to the specifics in a bit.

Should mention the flight is in a month and a half, so it's probably gonna be relatively nippy. If it's assfuckingly hot that day, I'll just abort the plan and pick out the bare necessities and pack those away, but for the purposes of the question, let's assume it's a cold day and I'm gonna be wearing 5-10 layers of the following:
  • Shirts, sweaters, etc (all under a jacket that's loose on me)
  • Underwear
  • Socks
Also, does this look really suspicious at the airport? Thanks if you read this far.

Even if you can operate with that many clothes on you're still getting a lengthy search at security- and this puts you at their mercy. They could hold you past the time your flight leaves if they think you're up to something. Honestly it's probably going to be a lot easier to ship the stuff ahead of time.

I am not debating whether or not it is possible, I know you can physically do it, fuck I see homeless guys daily that walk around armoured with twenty different shirts and four pairs of paints and a tasteful pair of hot pants on top to complement the look. It is sketchy as hell, which is the last thing you want to be at an airport where you have zero civil rights, they can detain you for hours on end if particularly dickish, you may even miss the flight.

Packing light is easy; a few l/s shirst, a pair of tees or two, two pairs of pants some sock and undies will all easily fit in a regular school backpack, that is pretty much all I ever pack for every trip I've ever taken, no mess nor fuss. Or if you must absolutely must pack everything you own, send shit to your hostel/hotel by mail. Just by suggesting it it seems you really don't have any experience in travelling.

'99 Toyota Corolla. There's nothing cool about this car's looks, that's for damn sure, but I have come to love it dearly after putting ~70k miles on it the first year I owned it, and with virtually no major mechanical problems to speak of. It gets about 25mpg, is reasonably quick to accelerate, and it just...never...ever...breaks down, no matter how much abuse you throw at it. Plus, I've never gotten pulled over in it and I think that is largely because it's such an average, boring-looking old car that nobody gives it a second glance. It's basically the perfect car for college students.

Pic isn't my car, but it's the exact same make and color. I could never decide on what to call the exact color of this car (apparently the official color name is "Twilight Pearl" and idefk what that's supposed to be) so personally I just call it blurple.
