Dragging stuff with a motorbike... Would it work? by Phyllis Fushshit - Fri, 03 Jul 2015 05:34:27 EST ID:7g4qKZk4 No.32466 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

Right, this is simultaneously a really simple but really complicated question. Possibly also a stupid one, and it's going to take a bit of explaining to make any sense. You've been warned.

Right, for starters I've never ridden any sort of motorbike aside from pillion at 100mph with no leathers this one time cause a hot chick with a Yamaha offered me a ride.. So I don't even know how to shift gears on one, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it this is just background information to let you know I know nothing about bikes or their capabilities, hence my question...

Could you use a bike of some sort to skid logs for firewood out the woods?

Weird question, I know. Y'see, three factors have inspired this question. Firstly, years ago I found out about Rokon 2wd motorcycles and that enlightened me to the fact bikes could be.. Useful. Secondly, I've seen bikes pulling trailers. Thirdly, I've seen something on the TV in Vietnam or something where they had a big problem with local illegal loggers using mopeds to transport vast weights of timber by road, using modified suspension and huge balls to keep balance I guess...

So anyway, I'm often out collecting firewood and timber for carving. I've got a fairly limited but effective selection of kit including a Defender 110, a Stihl chainsaw and a lot of good rope. The hardest part is always getting the timber from where it is to the nearest place a 4x4 will go (and come out of fully loaded!)

I've been looking at a few options for saving my back, including a small forestry winch. But having seen Asians with 250kg of timber on the back of a 50cc ped, I'm tempted to think there might be a bike based option!

It'd need to be affordable and readily available used... But how much could a small ped or something drag off road if you stuck a cheap knobbly tyre on the back? And could I feasibly lift said small vehicle into the back of my larger vehicle?

So, anyone got any knowledge that fits into the sliver in the middle of my forestry/small bikes ven diagram?

Fuck yeah, he's damned good. He's actually set track lap records just while test driving cars. I remember when he was test driving the new Viper and the ZR1 back a couple years and he set a new lap record for production cars at Laguna Seca / Mazda Speedway or whatever it's called now. When Johnny came over and told him he was like "Oh? That's neat."

Hey guys, I know this board is a bit slow but I wanted y'alls take on something. I'm traveling to Seattle from Alabama by plane for a 4 day trip, then I'm taking Amtrak for a 3 day stay in Portland.

I plan on staying at hostels to keep it low-cost and my budget is flexible. I'm going to keep it under 1,000, with 350 for bed space and 650 for food and fun.

Does anyone have any recommendations for my stays? I think I might try to go hiking if either one has trails within public transit distance.

I was stationed at Fort Lewis and would spend some of my weekends in Seattle drinking and partying it up.

Green Tortoise Hostel is where I stayed at. It was right across from the public market. Like $28 a night for an 8 man room. Had a free dinner on Sunday and Thursday(usually tacos or spaghetti), open kitchen, free breakfast, and a back smoking room.

Spend many a nights smoking weed, drinking and chatting with fellow travelers. I can recommends some great bars and places to eat and things to do.

I love Japan. I visited there for 3 months several years ago and it's still always on my mind. I'm fluent in Japanese.

The problem is I have an extensive criminal record and nothing but oddjobs and a couple degrees on my resume. How can I live there permanently (other than marrying someone)? I'm open to living there illegally.

Securing a job and working up to it little by little is all I've read about it aside from marriage. Never been but I hope to visit one day.

As far as I know living there illegally you should consider that if you get caught, it will only be even more difficult to live there again. The degrees might work in your favor - go to school at a Japanese university and get a job while there, then keep doing whatever you can to extend your stay.

I don't know anything about it really but I wish you the best of luck

Just enter legaly. Japan is super strict on forigeners. Its not like you blend in with the people.
You really run the risk of being thrown in jail or deported.
Just do what the other bro said, enter and leave japan ever 90 days or so.
Other than that your options are to find a job, go to school, marry a japanese person or to beat the final boss Kim and be accepted as new emporer of Jappan!

Buying a new car for travel by Thomas Crunninghitch - Sun, 29 May 2016 18:37:20 EST ID:a9+Kt3dy No.33813 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

So, /vroom/, next year I plan to leave (mostly) everything and everyone behind and travel across North America for a year or so, living out of my vehicle. Originally I planned to buy a retrofitted astrovan because it would be a spacious, all wheel drive vehicle capable of many things, and with plenty of room to sleep the back.

Then, I decided that I'd rather buy a smaller vehicle, preferably a hatchback, possibly a wagon, something which I could potentially still sleep in with the back seats folded down, but better on mileage and likely cheaper to maintain in general. After looking around online for a little while I concluded that my number one choice right now is a 2016 Honda fit ex.

I've spent the last week doing research about the fit, reviews, issues, and interior space. It seems like a decent choice for the price, but I want to see what you fellow individuals think would be a good vehicle for traveling. Any experience from people who have already done it would be much appreciated.

If you're going with a hatchback you had better take a tent unless you are a midget. No sleeping in the back, at least not for long term. If all you want to do is travel then I would suggest getting an electric and taking a solar panel with you or soem thing. Milage will be cheaper however your speed will be hindered to around 100 miles per day. But that gives you time to go exploring, you don't really see the land unless you get out of the car.

I'm about to go on a vacation to South America for a couple months, and I was wondering what I could do about my phone's data and call plan. My Dad still pays my cellphone bill, and has been asking how I'd be able to stay in touch with him while I'm down there without murdering the bill.

I was wondering how other people handle this while traveling. I thought about just getting Skype credits, but then I'm only going to be able to talk to them if I can find a wireless network to connect to.

Would it be a better idea to just get a prepaid cellphone and throw it away after the trip?

I'd be interested to live in Denmark at some point so I'd like to browse some apartments just to wrap my head around the moving possibilities and so on.

So where should I look for? And any general info on what are the good places to live, expectations and main concerns moving from another Scandinavian country, I don't speak Danish or anything resembling the language so you might guess where I'm from.

You don't even speak Danish so why would you be looking at danish cragslist-like sites with danish ads?
