question, im selling my 2000 S2000 and im wondering whats a fair price. The cars body has 180k on it, the motor has just under 60k. It needs a new top ASAP large holes and tires soon. The interior is in GREAT shape, only slight fading on driver side seat edge, K&N Cold air intake, Greddy single exhaust. Body is in great shape only a few very minor rock chips, car has always been garage kept. Here are some pics:

whats the weight limit on an explorer towing, im pretty sure that truck will take 2000lb in the bed no problem then hitched up. yea youll lose a few mpg, but shit you were only gettin 8 to start with.

but i agree, for alot of people a super duty isnt worth it, but landscappers and blow guys at least a 1500 is needed.

18 y/o brit here who passed my test today, looking to buy my first car, but I'm clueless when it comes to cars. Money isn't much of an issue as I have £25,000, but I still want to do it cheap. I was thinking of buying a Yaris, I've found a 2008 model for £1,500 near me and I'm interested.

My question is really pertaining to insurance, as we notoriously get screwed over here. Although the Yaris is a great car, my quotes have been something like £3,000 which is a bit much. Are there things I can do to get it down? Alternatively, any cars that are good for first time drivers in terms of insurance costs. Someone said a Ford KA, but my car-saavy friend told me to burn in hell at the concept of me having a KA. So I take it they're shit.

Get your dad to insure it and put you down as a named driver who doesn't drive it very often with annual car mileage as <6k. insurance comparison websites are shit for young drivers and you really have to phone about, but even doing this you'll still get shafted about £1500
Also there's the co-op insurance, who put that black box in your car and monitor how well you drive. Apparently you can get some pretty huge savings if you're not a dickhead driver.
Your friend's right about the Ka too. Yarises are kind of 'old people cars' but insurance companies like cars with high safety ratings, so try and find one that does if the Yaris doesn't. A smaller engine helps heaps too, and you'll pay less car tax if it's less that 1549cc (hear those americans sjolly african-american) which for a first car is plenty. My first was a 1 litre 1996 Polo and mine was about £1500 when I started for the circumstances mentioned above, is now about £1100 for a 1.6 03 Golf with 3 years no claims and the same circumstances. I've always been with Churchill.

1549cc? I... I don't think you can buy a car in the USA with an engine smaller than 2 liters.
Anyway, having never owned a car and being new at driving and being young, get something cheap. You're going to fuck it up. You are going to fuck it up in ways you never imagined. When you fuck it up and figure out all the things to NOT do with a car, and when you learn how to treat a car, THEN splurge and buy something nice.

Seriously, get a cheap clunker. You'll learn to repair and maintain your vehicle and you'll respect the nice car you have later in life a lot more.

call an insurance broker if you have them in your area, they normally run a slogan of "we insure anyone" basically what you're using these people to do is shop around for you, they will instantly give you the lowest quote of 100 places but tack on 15 dollars as a service charge. this will give you a great idea of what you should be paying.

do not actually use these guys as they are just middle men and it becomes a pain in the ass to file claims. angry people over the phone arent nearly as anoying as angry swearing customers inside the brick and mortar office scarring off potential customers.

lastly, ways to reduce insurance. you car has abs, your car has air bags, your car has every reasonable saftery feature you can lie about, insurance compaines arent going to check and if they do:"whoops im sorry i didnt realize i checked that box " like the guy above me said, you dont drive much <6k miles a year <10 miles to work. opt out of collision insurance. who cares if you smash into a wall and total the car, you paid 1500 for it. collision only is really useful in two situations, you are in a loan and are forced to have it or the car is worth more then you are willing to spend to replace it. from the sounds of it, itll be cheaper to buy another 1500 dollar car then it will be to pay for collision. lastly get a deductible. (not the vanishing one that allsate offers, that one fucks you in the long run). basically this is saying for the fix XXX (usually five hundred) you will cover it outa pocket.

So we've decided on renting a cabin somwhere in Georgia, Tennessee, or the Carolinas.

Not a single one of us has ever done this though. Do you guys know of any good places?

Typical fuck up, albeit with mental health issues. College drop-out. Just finished up eight months of being a hobo. Save up, get your ass a truck and a travel trailer, or at least a van, or at the very least a station wagon to live in. You don't wanna stay in the shelters son, and living outside in the winter is a total bitch. My tent is disgusting.

People told me over and over that I was crazy, that I was stupid, that I was making bad decisions, but I didn't listen to them. I should have.

If you want to start out with nothing, though? Seattle has the best social services you can possibly imagine, like, if you're down to start out on a mat on the floor with 89 other dudes, you can really find something for yourself in Seattle.

So even though this section is called "TRAVEL & Transportation", i only see car threads. If im in the wrong place just move the thread or something.

Anyway, i'll be going to Amsterdam in the end of this month with a good friend, so i was wondering if you guys could point out some cool places that are worth visiting, especially for stoners.
I should also note that i already live in The Netherlands (almost 2 years by now), but in the northern part. So basically i already know very well what dutch weed is, but there should be better shit in Amsterdam, right?
I also wouldnt really like going to the cliched tourist attraction places, cause im not really into getting ripped off and so, i would rather like to see places where the locals go and such.
My taste in music is heavily towards alternative rock/grunge/punk, also surf rock and 60s/70s stuff and my friend is a big fan of Tool, so perhaps any of you know places where they play such music. Oh and we both play bass guitar.
What i would also like to see is the squatted places and parts of squatting culture, "underground" places/clubs etc.

Also name some good weed strains that are worth looking for (I'm already familiar with Sneeuwwitje, White Widow, Super Skunk, Haze, Thai etc).
I would really like to try 'shrooms but i guess its kinda out of the question since they're illegal here now since 2008...

Thanks in advance.

100+mpg engine mod by Demonfairy - Mon, 22 Apr 2013 13:19:25 EST ID:VVtFg89t No.26888 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

Is it really possible for anyone's car to easily get 100+mpg with an added mod that would cost less than $200 to make?
It is! With just a few propane parts and a crafted vaporaation tank, some tubes and a bit of knowledge... It's been done in the 70s.

Lets think of how a modern engine works for a second. In the simplest explanation, it takes gas from the tank and injects it into each of the combustion chambers causing the piston to pump and the engine to turn. The main purpose of the fuel injectors (besides timing the injection with the motion of the engine) is to "spray" the gas into the chamber, breaking up and mixing the gasoline with the air before it combusts.

Lets go over how gasoline burns for a moment. First and most important, LIQUID GAS DOES NOT BURN. This is true. only the vapors from gasoline burns because it's been mixed with oxygen. gasoline begins evaporating at room temperature. you can test this yourself by pouring a small amount of gas into a jar lid or flat tray, enough so there's a pool, light it and watch only the top of the pool burn. that's because only the vapors from the liquid are burning and not the liquid its self.

Now lets go over your vehicles emissions for a moment. What is all that crap coming out of your tailpipe? Emissions are unburnt fuel. simple as that. It's inefficiency. A Cadillac Converter (in a simple explanation) reburns the toxins and unburnt fuel particles to reduce the emissions.

So what does all this mean? Your car is taking liquid gasoline and injecting it into the piston chamber where it only has a split second to mix with air and partially combust before being ejected out the exhaust manifold and wasted.
How can you get 100+mpg? It's as simple as pre-vaporizing the gasoline before it gets injected into the engine.

If you pre-vaporize your gasoline before it's injected into the engine, It's already molecularity expanded, heated, and mixed with air. This means you need only a fraction of the gas you needed before to push the piston because it combusts at 100% efficiently, resulting in near zero emissions. IT's said that even pre-heating the gas by taking the fuel line, extending it with copper(i think copper line) and wrapping it once or twice around your exhaust manifold will encrease your millage by 30% or more. You can boil gasoline and it won't combust unless exposed to an egnition source like flame.

The chemically correct air/fuel mixture for total burning of gasoline has been determined to be 15 parts air to one part gasoline or 15/1 by weight. Changing this to a volume ratio yields 8000 parts air to one part gasoline or 8,000/1 by volume. This new system vaporizes liquid fuel before the fuel enters the engine. Theoretically, a homogenous mixture can yield gas mileage in excess of 300 miles per gallon. The world record for auto gas mileage was sent in October 1973 by a 1959 Opel station wagon with a highly modified engine. The car traveled 376.59 miles on a single gallon of gasoline during a Shell Oil Co. contest at Wood River, Ill.

Atomised water is atomic hydrogen and oxygen and not water. If anything, it's a pretty fucking good oxydiser although most of that would probably just burn to produce water anyway. Except the water would probably be really hot and be steam.

The chemical formula for pure water is always H2O - regardless of whether it's in the form of ice, water or steam
Steam is atomized water, dude.

Evaporation occurs when molecules in a liquid gain enough energy that they overcome attractions from other molecules and break away to become a gas.
When you boil water on the stove, you get steam. This then cools when it comes into contact with the air, increasing the relative humidity above 100%, so the water vapor condenses into mist.
If the relative humidity is bigger than 100%, water vapor will condense from the air, becoming dew and/or mist. If the relative humidity is less than 100%, water will evaporate into the air, becoming water vapor

Steam is completely transparent. If you can see it then it is water vapor. Consider a kettle boiling - the white plume only occurs a short distance above the spout. Below that it is steam, above it has cooled into vapor.

What happens with the water vapor mod is the humidified air from the water chamber enters the air intake not as steam but at vapor, cooling and condensing into micro-droplets before entering the combustion chamber. The flash heat from the combustion process causes the water vapor to expand suddenly, adding to the power of the combustion process while at the same time lowering heat.

for the design shown >>27093 The line in to the water jar, to the aeration stone, is HOT air drawn from (possibly) copper tube wrapped around the exhaust. Hot air helps the water evaporate, and depending on how hot the air is coming into the jar would determine how much evaporation occurs and therefor how much water is being sucked into the engine. However, the air could also be ambient temperature and evaporation would still occur with the aeration of the water in the jar as long as the outside air isn't too cold. I guess it would depend on what climate you're driving in.

Regardless, The correct amount of water vapor combined with fuel vapor would achieve 100% combustion with 0% harmful emissions.

Also this probably applies to long island and all of downstate NY.

I live in midcoast New England and most years it's very reasonable to motorcycle as late as mid-November and as early as late March.

I wouldn't try to ride a motorcycle on the interstate or in any of the area surrounding NYC here unless I was pro as fuck (over 30 and been riding for a good chunk of that time). Too many assholes in Chevy Tahoes on cell phones

I rode my GS500 in NYC traffic once. Goddamn it sucked (the traffic, not the bike).

I left a cig burn in my moms leased car with patterned suede seats. I've learned my lesson, I'm never doing it again trust me and it was rude and irresponsible of me to smoke in there in the first place.

That being said, because of the patterning, the guy at the shop said I have to buy an $840 seat cover... I don't have that kind of money. Can any of you think of a way to fix this and have it look so that my parents won't notice it most likely for under $350?

pretty much this, i mean you're going to instal factory fresh into an already been used, they'll notice the difference in wear. thats to say that the guys do it like the factory does.

also, dealer only is a load of shit, go online and start googling. i bet AT LEAST the 40 dollars is mark up and will be pocketed and probably not declared as taxed. you may not be able to get it from honda or what ever but you will be able to find it.

actually, offer em cash, they wont have to pay taxes on the money so they would actually get a little more.

also, idk how leases work but i know you dont actually own the car. the place she's leasing from may have something in the contract saying all work must be done at their store or what ever.

if your car is older it may be in the junkyard, you could take the seat cover for dirt cheap, or the whole seat for a bit more, maybe a hundred.

for $840 you could have all four seats wrapped in leather, better leather than what comes from most oem's. ask me how i know.
