Dear 420chan,

So I'm graduating from an MA program in DC in May and my parents are coming to town for four days. We used to live in Montgomery County, MD back in the early 2000s before they moved away (and they worked in DC) so they've seen everything in those areas. What are some cool places outside of DC (other than Luray Caverns, Dulles annex for Air/Space, Baltimore Aquarium, Bull Runs Battlefiend) that I can drag them too? Never been to Antietam. I have a car so anything within a 100mi radius is doable.

Best regards,

Special Mongoose

Head down to Mountain Lake, or Dragons Tooth and Mcaffes Knob for good hiking. Or the Cascades.

Virginia Beach for Summer stuff

Manassass and Alexandria are shit stay away from those areas

Go south

The Cascades man. Go swim in a waterfall after a long pretty hike

Or drive the Blue Ridge Pkwy

I've lived in the area for a long time so I can certainly give you some places to go. Some suggestions off the top of my head would be Mount Vernon, Harper's Ferry, Great Falls Park, Riverbend Park and Six Flags America.

Catoctin Mountain Park. It's not as steep as the central Appalachians but there's nice hiking and scenic farm country nearby. You can also drive up to the Camp David entrance road, but don't go in!
