This gets thrown around a lot. But it doesn't make sense.
> "Daily smoking causes you to not have dreams."
If you're smoking weed everyday it might cause memory problems, you might lose your chronoception, and it will help you get long restful sleep. But your dreams literally cannot stop happening if you are sleeping. Once you enter REM cycle most of your brain stops working except you still think and visualize things.

If you remember a dream, then that means that dream happened when you weren't asleep. If you are in a full REM cycle then you aren't capable of remembering things. So weed helps you sleep it doesn't stop you from dreaming.

Go away dimestore psychologist, none of that shit is true.
It's totally possible to not have 'dreams' while you're sleeping. In fact, conscious 'dreams' only occur during a small portion of sleep. During parts of sleep your brain is moving information from short term to long term memory -- if this process is interrupted, by say weed, it both prevents the dream from becoming coherent enough to be remembered AND interferes with the transfer between short and long term memories.

So you are definitely asleep when you remember a dream, you're just in one of the many different stages of sleep where your arousal is higher than in deeper stages. The point of a REM cycle is the remembering of things, but dreams can happen and be recalled during any stage of sleep.

So, weed helps you sleep (because it interferes with the connection between short and long term memory, which reduces anxiety) and it does interfere with both the formation and recall of dreams as well as the long-term memory process. And, lastly, being in REM or not has nothing to do with being able to recall a dream.

Weed keeps you from entering REM for long periods of time. Which reduces the amount of memorable dreams one can have. Plus since most people don't remember their dreams to begin with, weed has been called a dream reducer by lots of people.

I for one am thankful to be without my dreams a lot of times.

One thing I've never understood is why people don't like hearing about other people's dreams. My girlfriend tells me about her dreams when we get high and I legit like see the dream if I just imagine it.

For me. I smoke everyday all day. I have lucid dreamed/vivid dreamed ever since I was little. It depends on the person. Weed has always put me in that spot of letting go. letting go of who you think you are. find that deep sleep.

I definitely dream significantly less ever since I started smoking daily. I get some really vivid ones when I take a T-break for more than 3 days though

For me, i sleep much more heavily when I smoke before bed, and if I got to bed at any level of high I don't have dreams, no matter wether it's just one day or I've been smoking erry day for a week. Its all personal though and it can be the complete opposite for every person.

It prohibits dream recall, making dreams harder to remember.

It's not rocket science
