>T-Hawk fucked off to China. RIP

THE STUFF IN THE TUBES:
>Puro Tube is on Tuesdays at 3pm EST / 8pm GMT in /wooo/tube - http://taima.tv/r/wooo and shows promotions outside of Dragon Gate, NOAH and current NJPW. Join in as everyone argues why their favorite fed is superior and Yanopost, Anopost, CIMApost and dance like Keita until your tummy is full from all that snackpine.
>DG Tube is on Thursdays at 8pm EST / 1am GMT in Mondai Night Ryu - http://taima.tv/r/mondainightryu and features the latest and classic Dragon Gate shows. Other stuff is featured here from time to time as well. (like cheesy 80s films or the mega marathon before Kobe World and recently OWE)
>NJPW on AXS TV is also on Thursdays at 10:50pm EST / 3:50am GMT (10:20pm EST / 2:30am GMT if Impact! is uploaded) in /wooo/tube and /wooo/alt - http://taima.tv/r/woooalt showing recent matches on tape delay with English commentary by Jim Ross and Josh Barnett. Replays air on Fridays at 11:45am EST / 4:45pm GMT in /wooo/tube.

Outside of Puro Tube, there's usually a few puro marks in the chat that can help fill you in on storylines and find you matches. Just show up outside of big shows like Raw, and you'll find someone in there to help you out. Puro matches also show up in the playlist, so scroll around to find them. NJPW, DG, and DDT live events are regularly streamed in the tubes, check the schedule for details.

>THE MAJOR FEDS:

NJPW: Oldest and largest promotion in Japan. Owned by Bushiroad and is booked by Gedo. His booking gets the tubes riled up sometimes (all the time), but the match quality generally makes up for it. In the midst of something of a revival, and although you may argue that it is already drawing to a close, they are still doing good business at the moment. They run one of the largest shows in wrestling, called Wrestle Kingdom, every year on January 4th at the fabled Tokyo Dome. Most every show they run, large and small, air in the tubes. They have a slew of foreign wrestlers on their roster right now. They also have a wonderful streaming website over at http://njpwworld.com/

Dragon Gate: Almost certainly the second largest promotion in Japan. Born out of the Toryumon promotion, which was the brainchild of Ultimo Dragon, their style is a mixture of classic puro, cruiserweight/junior heavyweight sprints, and lucha libre. Stable warfare is a huge part of the promotion, with most every wrestler in the company being aligned with a unit in some way. Though it is a big promotion, they retain a grassroots feel, with wrestlers selling merch before and after shows, and running many shows out of community centers and gyms. Most of their large shows air in the tubes, and footage is also posted here. They also have a show that is filmed monthly in their little studio in Kobe called Prime Zone which is wacky, fun, and full of Mondai Ryu schemes. They recently joined the streaming bandwagon over at https://dragongate.live

From this week's Observer;
>Let's just say that the next few months are going to be very interesting. Some early contract offers made have raised some concern to go along with the issues mentioned in last week's issue. While there is a lot of pride here for the quality of the matches stemming from the Kobe and Long Beach shows during what is usually the post-G-1 down period, and the great reaction to G-1 and its business success, but the new regime (Harold Meij and new General Manager Michael Craven) is very different and not experienced in dealing with wrestlers. There may be economics that we're not aware of, but there was a lot about the U.S. expansion with enthusiasm, between the new dojo and running a regular California and West Coast second circuit (which I don't think would have been a good idea) and the pull back from there, and other changes.
>But it feels like a lot has changed in the last 30 days. Craven, who is believed to be the head of talent relations as well as international expansion, may be the most unpopular guy among the wrestlers with the new regime. Craven I believe was the Tech Business Director at Hays Japan, managing technology recruitment for a company and had worked in IT recruitment for 20 years. He has lived in Japan since 1998, coming from the U.K. and has been involved in developing many of the top senior level technology executives in Asia. The initial reaction was that the feeling was that he talks down to the wrestlers and made strange comments and they know he has no background in wrestling, which is a very unique industry.
>Morale with the company was very high as you could tell by any interviews with the talent, particularly during G-1 where the level of work had led to high pride across the board with the feeling they were doing the best matches in the world and producing the best overall product. Now the morale is more weird than anything, with more uncertainty about what will happen next and less confidence than with the old administration. Another person noted that the new team has gotten off to a rough start and that all the wrestlers, both Japanese and American, are talking about how they feel like they are seen as workers in a factory …

I like to keep up with random indies - a PWG show here, a Progress one there, some Crash, some Beyond, whatever has a good card. I still watch LU on weekly basis, I'll never understand how can anyone not love this show. I skim through NXT and watch segments with guys and girls I like (so around half the footage). I read all CMLL cards and just watch matches selectively (about 5-10 per week). And that's pretty much it.

If this relationship gets bigger mainstream press, specifically in regards to the Crown Prince ordering a hit on journalist Jamal Khashoggi, will WWE be forced to sever ties with the Saudis or is the money too much for Vince McMahon to pass up?

Most of the money in the military doesn't even go to the military. It goes to contracters and their friends. Expensive ass jets that don't get finished, stupid as uniforms that don't work as intended.

On the ground level, you still see gear that has been around since Vietnam and doesn't even work anymore, yet we still had it on the books as a sensitive item.

In fact, they government couldn't even decide to give the soldiers a fucking pay raise one time and almost shut down over it. I remember a couple of guys just went home because of us not getting paid.

I one time got issued a piece of body armor with a bullet hole in it. The fuck?

And don't get me started on the fucking ACUs. Whatever asshole greenlit the contract should be shot and tossed into the Atlantic Ocean.

Not to mention most of the civilian contractors were major dickheads who had a fucking chip on their shoulder for nothing.

A lot of my time in was spend wondering how the government earmarks so much money for the military, yet the soldiers saw none of it.

nb because of bullshit.

I see way more people like you claiming that, than people who actually take his word as gospel. Every single star rating thread has people disagreeing with him.

>NJPW announced the Fantasticamania 2019 schedule. It’s eight shows long. That’s the same as last. They’d be adding a show a year for the last few years, so perhaps they reached the limit last year. The schedule is:

*1/11 in Osaka
*1/12 in Ehime
*1/13 in Kyoto
*1/14 in Gifu
*1/16 in Chiba
*1/18 (Friday), 01/20 (Sunday) and 01/21 (Monday) in Korakuen Hall

>AJPW officially announced the wrestlers participating in its November Lucha Fiesta tour: Super Crazy, Diamante, Sam Adonis, Ultimo Panda, and Super Ciudadano. Super Ciudadano is also Sangre Imperial, so he may vanish from CMLL for a week or so. Ultimo Panda must’ve made a great impression on the DragonMania show. Diamante, who is part of the AJPW Lucha Fiesta tour, says his goal still is to return to CMLL.

The Fantasticamania shows at Korakuen Hall will be live on NJPW World as usual. No word on if the Lucha Fiesta shows will be live on AJPW TV since the schedule isn't out yet but it would be nice if they were.

Recent news from CMLL:

>Arena Coliseo Guadalajara referee Pedro el Millionario (Pedro Davalos) was killed Saturday night. He was refereeing as recently as this week; he’s in the Guadalajara videos I uploaded this morning. A moment of remembrance was held for him on last night's show. Pedro was among of a group of people walking near Arena Coliseo Guadalajara when a red truck drove up and shot at them according to this article - http://www.ntrguadalajara.com/post.php?id_nota=110375. Pedro died after being taken to the hospital. Two other people also died in the attack. The motive is unknown.

>CMLL announced the Dia de los Muertos schedule for this year. Themed shows will take place on November 2nd (Friday), 4th (Sunday), and 6th (Tuesday.) If CMLL is running the Cl4n/Guerreros cage match soon, the 11/02 date would make the most sense. They seem to have moved away from that feud again, so perhaps it won’t be happening for now. The Sunday Dia de Muertos show is sometimes streamed as a bonus.

Also Fuego has expressed how unhappy he is in CMLL but who knows if it's a work or shoot:

>The article of the day is in El Grafico, where Fuego complains strongly about never being given a chance in CMLL. Fuego wants matches against the likes of Terrible, Hechicero or Cavernario and isn’t getting them. Fuego feels he has the ability to wrestle those guys but hasn’t been the opportunities while others have gotten them. Fuego argues that he’s had chances to wrestle top wrestlers in Japan (Ricochet, Lyger, and Tanahashi mentioned) but not in his home country and can’t understand it. Fuego says this is his goal for 2019. If he can’t achieve that, he will have “grab my bags and leave” – he doesn’t want to be stuck in the position he’s in forever.

>This was all from an interview in Arena Mexico. It was probably set up by CMLL, since it came out on the usual interview schedule If this was any other promotion, it’d seem like a setup for some sort of angle. It is strange that Fuego was hyped last month as one of the guys who are the future of CMLL and now is a guy who doesn’t seem a future in CMLL, but that first list never made any sense. Fuego probably should be moved up, but I’m also not sure I believe his threat. Guys who threaten to leave are usually not that interested in actually leaving, they’re just desperate for something to change so they can comfortably stay. I think Puma King had the same sort of complaints, and he just started exploring his options instead of making his comments publically known. I will believe Fuego is really thinking about leaving when he starts to take bookings outside of the CMLL sphere.

>The timing of Fuego’s complaint might be related to the FantasticaMania details being revealed. A press release says CMLL will be sending 20 luchadors, which is the same number that were scheduled last year. There are some obvious people who won’t be back. I think we can be pretty sure Drone will not be making a return trip. Puma’s left. Disturbio and Star Jr. are the rotating midcard spots. Atlantis is on every one of these but this would be the year to skip if he’s ever going to skip it – he probably should wait to go back until Atlantis Jr. is ready to go with him. Negro Casas could’ve skipped, but he ended up missing these shows and so he’s got to be a lock for this year. Dragon Lee will probably be back by then (though maybe not by next month when they announce the names.)

>Drone, Puma, Disturbio, Star Jr. and Atlantis off would be five open spots. Forastero, Audaz, and Templario are strong bets to make their debuts. There will probably be one early match tecnico and one early match rudo rewarded with a spot – let’s say it’s Robin & Akuma to pick names. If CMLL wants to add anyone else – perhaps Flye, since he won the Gran Alternativa, or Kraneo since he’s been pushed hard – then you have to start bumping off guys like Angel de Oro, Niebla Roja or Fuego. Perhaps Fuego found out he got bumped off and that triggered his rant. I don’t know, but the timing matches up.

Is it really so wrong to enjoy current New Japan? by Cuckto Miyahara - Fri, 12 Oct 2018 19:29:52 EST ID:s6SB4lr1 No.6154753 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

I’ve been watching New Japan since the early Bushiroad days, but tbh 2018 has been my favorite year so far. Everything is so unpredictable and every match is different. Sure there are legit booking complaints here and there, but in the grand scheme of things everything works out.

Maybe it’s because I recently started watching other puroresu promotions besides New Japan. If I want a classic style I’ll watch All Japan, if I want to watch something hard hitting i’ll watch NOAH, if I want deathmatches and big dudes i’ll watch BJW, if I want fast junior style i’ll watch DG.

My point is, New Japan is a mix of a lot of those styles which makes them unique. A master of none so to speak. I appreciate New Japan more because I don’t expect anything specific from them anymore. If it’s entertaining to me, then it’s entertaining.

I agree, i'll happily watch some NJPW if it's on, or a friend wants to watch it, but I also enjoy Stardom, TJPW and parts of DDT just as much and the droning on about how NJPW is the greatest wrestling of all time is off putting.

current New Japan reminds me A LOT of WCW and i fucking miss WCW. i like the higher level of athleticism with a dash of sports entertainment thrown in. I also like that GEdo's stories tend to play out over long periods of time. With WWE because they have so much content it either gets bland very quickly and you tune out or you miss some time and then you miss a critical part of a story. NJPW i dont have to catch every show to stay current

No offense but...does this really warrant a thread?

Rick died almost 20 years ago, it was tragic and the wrestling world mourned him.
In 2016 his son died. A man that was not involved in wrestling.

As a human being I can feel sympathy for his family but why should I care as a wrestling fan?
