Why I believe Jericho should've won the 2012 Royal Rumble by FamousTVClown - Mon, 20 May 2013 00:51:36 EST ID:MONKcWtu No.2941818 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

It is gonna be TL;DR for a lot of people, but I just had to get this off of my chest.

It was close to the year of 2012. All the nut jobs began preparing for the end of the world. One man was preparing for the end of the world as we know it and that was Chris Jericho. He returned after at least two year hiatus on February of 2012. He came out and pandered to the crowd, only to end up saying not a single word. He kept this up for weeks, confusing and agitating the masses. Finally, the RAW before the Royal Rumble, he says "This Sunday at the Royal Rumble, it will be the end of the world as we know it." The crowd popped because that is all he needed to say. He had finally spoken. After weeks of cryptic videos, Jericho planted a seed of suspense into their brain. Fast forward to the Royal Rumble. Sheamus and Jericho are the final two and Sheamus wins after a strong back and forth. Why would they do that?

Chris Jericho usually returns to put stars over, but a Royal Rumble win would've put one more accomplishment into his historic career. And it seems like the crowd wanted him to win whether it be because of nostalgia or because of the respect they have for him as a performer. Chris Jericho winning would've been the beginning of fans actually taking him seriously, rather than just a guy who talks the talk, but can't walk the walk. Jericho should've won and been kept strong all the way into Wrestlemania by winning matches. They didn't even have to be clean wins. Instead, he was removed from the match because "he was hurt" during an Elimination Chamber, and just wins a contender's match the following night. Why? Why make him look weak if he is just gonna get the title shot anyways? Granted Punk and Jericho had a great promo exchange for the build up, but still really think about it. Jericho winning would've benefited both Punk and Jericho.

Chris Jericho winning the Royal Rumble would've made the whole viral video thing before his return mean much more and would've made die-hard and casual fans a lot more interested in him. Instead of saying "Oh, he is back again, cool I guess" they could've been saying "Holy shit, Jericho means fucking b…

I didn't start watching wrestling until late 2011, but Jericho was one of the few stars that I remembered when I got into it. Maybe it was just bias, but I really wanted him to win. His feud with Punk was still pretty great to me. It had a shoot feel to me, because Jericho was bringing up true details about Punk's life, and the drug addiction/alcoholism parts struck pretty close to home. I would've greatly preferred Jericho winning the Rumble (especially knowing what happened because Sheamus won), but considering that he went on to face Punk at WM I'm not too broken up about it.

I'd at least like to commend you for sticking to this argument despite that Cena is champ and not the admittedly smark favorite Punk anymore. Even if your post had more to do with the part timers bit than the championship not getting the closing spot, I still respect that this is still acknowledged as an issue even with Cena holding the title.

Probably because it was Ryback. And the H match wasn't exactly good, either. Brock/Cena absolutely blew away any Brock/Triple H match.

To be fair, the ending of the Ryback/Cena match would have been a horrible ending to the show. At least this way we ended with a conclusive result.
But I agree, the title should go on last except for very race circumstances.

I remember I saw this shoot along time ago, and I just remember somebody synched up the unsolved mysterious theme with it which was really hilarious. It was entertaining and insane as fuck. I recommend you watch it if you just like an entertaining shoot, he's completely nuts here, but he's always been this nuts.

When Billy Jack used to wrestle in Portland, OR he used to hang out with hell's angels and run drugs for them, or at least that was the rumors. He also got into a huge car wreck or some shit, and had multiple domestic abuse situations that would be the newspaper. I always knew this guy had more then a couple screws loose the first time I saw him in Portland Wrestling. This shoot was great though, he's motherfucking insane and I love watching crazy people go on serious rants. I think I believed a couple things he said like vince doing cocaine with the boys before wrestlemania and his sexual molestation by his uncle, but thats about it. I wouldn't want to tell him that though, he has a history of beating the shit out of people just for disagreeing with him. I always loved Billy Jack as a heel cause to me he was truly a scary monster, especially with that nasty mullet.

CM Punk should have used some of these lines in his supposive "shoot" in WWE.

Yes Mr. McMahon, only one thing I didn't like at all, that being the Swagger vs. ADR match, or basically their entire feud, because Swagger has been ADR's bitch for the entirety of their feud, losing match after match to him and basically not being a credible threat at all, and now this? Can't even give the guy a fake win?

Semantics. He still submitted to it.

>Well they had to do SOMETHING to replace the ladder match.
Wait what? What does THAT have to do with deciding to suddenly bring in instant replay?

>No contest=no title change. WWE Logic 101
I think the point here is we saw Ryback get up and Cena still down. But admittedly it was for longer than a 10 count would last so it would have been no contest. And yes, the general consensus IS a challenger must outright win to get the belt for pretty much all wrestling promotions, so I don't know what either of your points were.

I was gonna vote for a Superkick like Shawn's, Dolph's but after seeing all dem Diamond Cutters I think that one has to take the cake. Spears, Superkicks, Ohno's Elbows, and god damn a good Lariatto are close contenders though. I became a JBL mark because of him busting out that Clothesline from Hell and seeing people get clobbered or flop 360 degrees such as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDY_c_r7vSw

As for worst ones, another one for the Overdrive for me. Miz's Mizard of Oz and the SCF are also candidates (still loved the Reality Check over everything he's tried).
