Parallel angles by Celt !BzcOsK03.w - Tue, 21 Nov 2017 22:14:04 EST ID:MFvuOdU6 No.5901695 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

This is so dumb and amateurish it deserves it's own thread instead of being lost inside the SD thread:

3 females heels, The aggressive Goth leader, a brunette muscle enforcer and spunky cocky blonde, suddenly invade the show and declare themselves the new force in the women's division.

Both RAW and Smackdown are running the same angle 1 day apart. The only difference between them is that Paige is a known entity to the main roster audience, and the other 5 are straight out of NXT.

Now, not only do these girls have to fight to get over, now they have to over come being directly compared to their counterparts on the other brand. Sarah Logan and Sonya DeVille are will now be pitted against each other of who's being the better enforcer. Ruby has to up against Paige as a leader. And It's Liv vs Mandy in the eyes of the fans of who's better between the two.

Like this immediately makes both groups, be definition, stand out less.

And what's mind boggling is that it's not like management couldn't have known; you can't just pull 6 women out of a shallow pool in NXT and a flag not get set off in the office. They knew this was going to happen and they went ahead anyway.

This is just weird.

Her character's style is a big part of why doesn't do it for a lot of guys. She looks better with her hair longer too. Dressed up closer to normal she looks like a perfectly attractive, fit woman.

Anyway, really happy for her to hit the main roster so quickly.

Me personally, gimme a Ruby Riot or Paige looking type over these generic, plain white bread, assembly line barbie lookin basic bitch tanned blondes. Such a tired generic trope of a look. Imagine only eating plain vanilla ice cream. That's what that is.

What the fuck are you talking about? WWE makes a questionable amount of money, and/but actually pays their people.
TNA on the other hand, loses money and has been a running joke on not being able to pay their employees, and has wasted talent even worse than Vince and his neanderthal writing team have. Say nothing of the confusing legal shitshows its been involved with.

TNA got a show on a major network that gave them a good time slot, was willing to fit the bill for their big stars, pay a bunch of their expenses, and blew it by keeping Russo around when they didn't want any part of him.

So I just watched this part where Jerry got worked into a shoot by Jim carrey. I had no idea Lawler and Koffman had a match before, or that they worked together. But Jerry and Jim Carrey this was funny because Jerry tried attacking Jim exclaiming “ANY TIME! I can do this to you ANY TIME.” And Jim said “well hes a wrestler, he gets caught up in the part, you know, and some of its real, some of its not”
Generally speaking, I want to watch that Lawler Koffman match if its on the Network.
Anybody with source on that please share and otherwise wooo; I suggest checking that shit out

Man on the Moon is a really great film, want to watch it again just reading this thread. Carrey is obviously a good actor and killed it as far as the film goes but I understand Lawler's point too. As others have said Carrey was being 'kayfabe Andy', as seen in the talk shows and matches, as that's primarily what the film called for. Annoying as fuck to Lawler sure but if he had to get one aspect of the character down mentally, that's the one. I've been around hardcore method actors and they're annoying more often than not, you've just got to roll with it to reap the rewards sometimes.

In terms of success rate for guys who are called up to the main roster, can NXT be considered a failure? I mean the booking is different up there but it really makes NXT look bad when Vince ruins guys who are supposed to be successful.

Lana Star - Tue, 21 Nov 2017 20:38:18 EST ID:qfX5xSjT No.5901561 Ignore Report Quick Reply
NXT exists for one reason and that's to kill off the indies and bring internet buzz to WWE to help mitigate the effects of other growing promotions.

NXT is a pseudo-indie and a front for Haitch's ego to win over the fanbase that despised him for years. It's a containment zone for top name indie stars where WWE can hold them until they have something for them on the main roster. WWE will sign guys just so no one else can have them. It's both Haitch and WWE's way of saying "hey look at us guys, we just signed this big star. Go look him up on YouTube so you can come back and tell us how cutting edge we are in 2017. This is a new era and it's the best it's ever been!"

Anyone that thinks NXT is actually supposed to be a developmental territory is wrong. You think Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville are "ready"? You think they're better than KENTA, Drew or anyone else? No, they just had something for them and so they were called up early because it fit the storyline with being former contestants on Tough Enough with Paige as the judge.

Makes me both laugh and feel frustrated when WWE fans NXT like it's ECW or some shit. And people will be like "I don't watch WWE, but I watch NXT" as if it's some sort of competition or an opposition. NXT fans aren't outlaws, they're aren't edgy, they aren't hip and they aren't underground. They're still feeding the machine while thinking they're rebelling.

1998 was a year of many highs, and while the lows were few, they were felt. Tonight we close out what could be called a good year for both companies. Can they maintain the momentum heading into 1999?

That is a tragedy.

Dragon Kid is way fucking good, and Eddie is Eddie.

After his showing on Saturday, I cannot help but respect Patrick Clarke.
I know he is a guy who is a serious student of the business and genuinely dedicates himself to it because he actually loves it, and how good he has gotten thus far is a product of that. You cannot manufacture true passion and dedication like this guy seems to have. I have to respect that. Hope this guys goes far and does well. And he's only 22. What the fuck like.

He does kinda have a point. I'm told I'm straight acting because I don't go around saying "YAAAAS QUEEN SLAY!"
Not an extremely valid point, but he is making some kind of point.

What do you think it's like to be in a company that you know you can't leave, but know you won't progress in?

I've just been kind of thinking about what happens when you might clash with a booker or know that he will never use you — you know that the crowd and the company like him better, so what are your options?

Suck it up? Leave? Reinvent yourself? What if you aren't in a position to, and that's kind of just... it? Do you think wrestlers settle and just let that lack of change eat themselves from the inside?

Depending on what wrestler you're referring too, because while some would just settle & just have as much fun as possible in their role, others would eventually get frustrated.

Depends on how old you are and if you have any glory days behind you.
If you're an older talent who's had a good few high profile title runs, then you can just ride it out and make the best of it.
If you're a younger talent who believes they've got a lot more to offer than what they're allowed to show then it's better to risk it, otherwise, you'll just end up thinking of what could've been. Regardless of what you get paid and the perks, a dream job can become a nightmare if it's not one you enjoy doing.
