>Watch King of DDT Final Round at 11pm EDT / 4am BST in /wooo/tube - http://taima.tv/r/wooo In the event that Wrestle Circus keeps the main channel from being blessed by God with the Dramatic Dream Team and the always fun time they present, the show will start being streamed in /wooo/2 - http://taima.tv/r/wooo2 then moved over to main channel /wooo/ when the event is over

After battling through some of the best the promotion has to offer, 4 men have been risen out of 16 wrestlers in DDT's annual lottery drawn, single elimination tournament, known as the King of DDT Tournament. In this 11th installment of the tournament, local smiley Ace man and 2x winner HARASHIMA, the(allegedly not so very) lazy and rebellious Tetsuya Endo, the overlooked technician Akito, and the cute but intense Shigehiro Irie have made it past the likes of Daisuke Sasaki, Yukio Sakaguchi, KUDO, and Soma Takao among others to reach their final test of skill, will and endurance with Semi Final matches as well as the Finals on the same day in the legendary Korakuen Hall. The last man standing after those 2 matches will be crowned the King of DDT, and will advance with their prize money of 1,000,000 Yen to the main event of DDT's annual Peter Pan event in Ryogoku Kokugikan on August 20th against the KO-D Openweight Champion, currently held by 'The Future" Konosuke Takeshita.

For HARASHIMA, after losing his title to Takeshita at Saitama Super Arena in March, this is a shot at redemption, and to reinstate his place as the Ace with a record 3rd tournament win followed by moving on to obtain his 10th Openweight title. For Tetsuya Endo, the deep-seated grudge with his former tag team partner is not yet over, and 2 months after their 60-minute time limit draw, the chance for Endo to finally settle the score and bring the Openweight title back to Damnation is once again in his hands, though all depends on if Takeshita is still champion. Akito, previously joining up with Takeshita to form ALL OUT after his failed attempt to beat him for the title, could finally break through the ceiling on this show and finally move up the ranks within DDT after years of being seen along the side of the top stars in the company. Irie had made it his mission since the breakup of Team Drift in 2016 to win last year's King of DDT, but fell to eventual winner Shuji Ishikawa in the semi finals, which led to him looking to regroup by taking on an excursion to the US. Now back from his excursion, he's done very well since returning, beating Mike Bailey clean in Saitama Super in March and is currently 1/2 of the Tag team Champions w/Kazusada Higuchi. This is his chance to continue this momentum all the way to both the bank, AND Sumo Hall.

Some facts to think about: the record of tournament winners in their Peter Pan main events since Peter Pan's inception in 2009 is 6-2-0.It has been 3 years since a King of DDT tournament winner last failed to capture the Openweight title, when 2014 winner Isami Kodaka lost to champion HARASHIMA in a Triple Threat Elimination match that also involved Kenny Omega, the other tournament winner to lose his title shot in 2012 he fell to champion and partner Kota Ibushi in Peter Pan in Ryogoku Budokan . Less related to Peter Pan, it was also the last time the title was retained on a big show outside of Korakuen Hall. So given that history, the one to move on the the main event of Peter is almost destined to become the new champion. So the question now: Who will be the one to come out on top? Who will be the one to rule over all as 2017's King of DDT?

Putting focus on the Openweight title's status, there is still a rough road that champion Konosuke Takeshita must go through in order to walk into Peter Pan as champion for the 2nd year in a row. Right now there are 3 remaining Right to Challenge Contract holders: Mike Bailey, DAMNATION's Mad Paulie, and DNA's Naomi Yoshimura, who has recently been blaming Takeshita for everything wrong in his life, from losing friends to his grandmother being arrested for shoplifting. With Paulie's intentions unknown and Yoshimura going for a surprise cash-in, Bailey, who beat Takeshita in order to obtain his contract, went the clean route, challenging Takeshita to a title match on July 2nd. Today, we see a prelude to that, as Bailey teams with Kazusada Higuchi against Takeshita and his new ALL OUT associate, Diego. Who will grab the upper hand on the road to their Shinjuku Village encounter?

But this is DDT, meaning the rest of the card isn't gonna be soft on the entertainment. Including, Rocky Kawamura, Saki Akai & Antonio Honda forming a stable called the Rockies. Kawamura nowadays does a Rocky gimmick, Akai’s father was nicknamed “The Rocky Of Naniwa” during his boxing days and Honda really likes the Rocky movies. Sayaka Obihiro of Gatoh Move is helping to train them and promises they will turn Korakuen Hall into Philadelphia Hall. We also have a 6-Man Tag Title match, Sanshiro Takagi getting ganged up on, and Kaz Hayashi making a special appearance at the request of Kensuke Ishii in an effort for Ishii to improve after the slump he's been on, taking on the Charisma and the Cute Pet of DAMNATION.

King Of DDT 2017 – Final: X Vs X

Tag Team Match: ALL OUT(Konosuke Takeshita & Diego) Vs Mike Bailey & Kazusada Higuchi

KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Titles: New Wrestling Aidoru(Makoto Oishi, Shunma Katsumata & MAO)(c) Vs Shuten-dōji(KUDO, Yukio Sakaguchi & Masahiro Takanashi)

Torn between Irie and Endo here, though I'd take Akito too. Best boy winning would just be boring.

Still sad Shuji didn't get to defend his victory last year so having Endo win it and keep the King in Damnation would be nice.

Inspired by the real story of the 1980's female wrestling league, the series -- set in Los Angeles and showcasing big hair and body slams -- focuses on Ruth Wilder (Alison Brie) an out-of-work, struggling actress in 1980s Los Angeles who resorts to the glitter and spandex out of desperation. It’s her last ditch effort at stardom to live her dreams in the form of a weekly series about female wrestlers.

The series premieres June 23 on Netflix and will be shown weekly starting this Sunday in /wooo/tube. Like with the spoilers threads, use spoiler tags when discussing the show.

I thought episode 5 was the best of the bunch so far. I understand how you need to get viewers acquainted with the characters, but seeing them get into that crappy indie show and the stories was really fun to watch and maybe should've been frontloaded abit, because ideally the viewer goes through the same process with wrestling in general. Debbie is pretty strong as an actor too imo.

Can someone explain the reason why TNA can never get any buzz whatsoever? Its just baffling to me, I mean I just checked twitter, Bobby Lashley made this tweet you see in the pic on June 22nd and it gets a whopping 76 retweets and 151 likes. Like wtf? you'd think TNA's top star mentioning the damn president of the USA would get some mainstream people to notice but no....a whopping 76 retweets and 151 likes...its crazy to me. Nobodies on twitter get ten times more retweets and likes than this.

Nah, NJPW legitimized him, but AJ was a (shackled) world class main eventer in TNA already, he just had... like, negative momentum. It was generally agreed that he was one of the absolute best in the world, but TNA had fucked him over so much that most people knew that they didn't know how to book him, and if they gave him a big story, it'd just end up being stupid, like Claire Lynch of him dressing up like Ric Flair. TNA was essentially him revving his engine for, like, 12 years, and NJPW gave him a fuckton of momentum right from the start by putting him in the hottest angle in the world at the time in the Bullet Club, and giving him a stage to confirm what everyone already knew; that AJ Styles is the best in the world. But he was already a star in TNA.

ILLL - Intergalactic Lucha Libre League (Create-A-Wrestler) by Wasp Eye Lad - Sat, 24 Jun 2017 20:32:11 EST ID:voOcnTgU No.5774472 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

Sup /wooo/? It's me, Wasp Eye Lad and for years I have been lurking the site and watching late night streams.
This one stream that had Ali Baba vs. The Bruiser in this WCW vs. NWO tournament back in the day opened my eyes to Wrestling and games.

I wanted to make my own. After some time, I finally did.

>Intergalactic Lucha Libre League

ILLL is a cross between space super heroes with wrestling, taking great inspiration from Kinnikuman (Ultimate Muscle), Lucha Underground, HUSTLE, Chikara and /wooo/'s rasslemania lore.

Now I'm pretty sure the regular user base on /wooo/ might not be into tabletop RPGs, this is why I want to introduce you guys to this wonderful world!
If you wish to create your own wrestler and slam some jabronis, all you have to do is to either post here or send me a google docs word document with either a level 1 character sheet created using the pdf I just linked, or a description of the character telling me it's appearance, wrestling style, signature and finisher moves and a character sheet will be provided for you in the next thread.
Please also state which days and hours in the week you have free time to play the game.

The idea is to create a living /wooo/ Federation where people would have matches with each other, generate feuds and hunt for titles using ILLL's rules. Due to how the league system works on the game, we will be able to run games with just the people who need to appear on the segment, meaning we can run the results in weekly /wooo/ threads while we use roll20 to play the actual matches as the week roll in.

that tournament was many years ago. It wasn't just that Ali Baba won, it was what he had to go through to win: Ali Baba vs. The Giant was one of the greatest things that has ever happened here.

Anywho. I do not know anything about this "Dungeon and Dragons" type community but it seems you might have an easier time getting people to play if it were free? I understand that you put work into this though and perhaps you aren't inclined to just give it away which is totally fine. Also since I don't know anything perhaps those that regularly do this kind of stuff find it acceptable to pay, iduno.

Either way, good luck

That's why I offered the bit where you can just post what would your character look like/be and I would craft it's stats myself. I' would be there to teach people how to play the game. Playing the game in the format I'm proposing is 100% free, but buying the PDF would allow you to play it with your friends and create a character yourself.

Your point is super valid though, but the money is mostly being used to pay the artists (who did a great job, seriously I was crying when I saw the cover they made) and funding revisions/making the game bigger and better.

Thanks for the kind words man, with the clarification if you still want to give a whirl I'd love to teach you how to play ILLL and RPGs in general.
(And I think I did watch the Giant match, but for some reason I got the most hype from the Baba vs. Bruiser. It was something that made it's mark on me.)

alright. my initial thought process was that this isn't like a physical board game or something. I had roommates in college that did D&D but it didn't seem like it was anything they payed for. Yet you're right perhaps they bought the aspects of the game so they could do it themselves, someones unique idea/story. That part was just a little confusing to me but I get it now

Not my type of genre but I'm sure there are plenty of people here that would like it

They still mention everyone's experiences in NJPW as of right now, but with the company doing phenomenal (You could legitimately argue that NJPW over the past year and a half is the best period from any company ever) and eyeing American expansion, you'd have to think that soon AJ and G&A will have "spent many years overseas" and Nakamura will be an "international superstar".

Are they doing this already and I just haven't noticed?

Can we talk about psychology? As someone who has gotten back into pro-wrestling since last year, I've begun endeavoring to try and watch the 'canon' of great matches. I've been trying to view more varieties of pro-wrestling beyond WWE from different times and places. And I think I'm coming to understand what kind of psychology, for me, gets over. I wonder if there's anyone that feels as I do. I think good matches need to sell the actual aspect of wrestling. I think every good match (barring great size differences) grappling and jockeying for position should take up much of the match until an initial submission or move is made. Psychologically, when one guy does a move or submission to the other, this tells me that the guy receiving the move is too fatigued to resist or defend himself. Nothing makes me shake my head more and take me out of a match than when one guy gets a submission hold, say guillotine or armbar, and then they just sit there and try to sell it. Realistically, if a fighter locks an armbar or any submission for longer than 5 seconds, the fight is over. Because obviously he must submit or get seriously injured. In so much pro-wrestling they get good submissions and just sit there forever selling it until a guy drags themselves for a rope-break or they just let the guy get to his feet, in the case of every WWE headlock. Too often it's just guys trading moves. And after they do a move and they guy is down they pick him back up and throw him to the ropes! Why? It's stupid. You just bodyslammed him. Pin him. I also don't like punches. I think punches should be disqualifications like Japanese do. When I watch a match like AJ Styles VS John Cena and see Cena punch him straight in the head it's just ridiculous. People get knocked out when you legit do that. I am ranting, I guess, but I guess as a child when you watch much of this you don't think much on it. Getting back into pro-wrestling and seeing what passes for psychology so much of the time just, I don't know, I have some problems with it.

It's a curious thing to me. You'd think with how MMA blew up and arguably took away the casual wrestling audience, because of shoot style being what it is, that there would have been attempts to promote it. But from what I gather when PRIDE started getting hot, and MMA altogether, everyone who was practicing shoot style decided to go legit. So maybe there was just no longer the talent to promote it. In the US I don't think there was ever a shoot style promotion. And I think to actually run a shoot style promotion you need skilled practitioners. Like reading the backgrounds of Sayama and Fujiwara and others who were apart of UWF, they were skilled martial artists. Man I would love read/listen to Meltzer go over this history.

Me too. I find it by far the most interesting aspect of pro-wrestling in general. Maybe some helpful person on here can point us in the direction of a podcast or something that discusses it.

>because of shoot style being what it is, that there would have been attempts to promote it.

Tamura attempted to run a pure shootstyle promotion with U-STYLE in 2003, but it simply couldn't compete with PRIDE or the big established Pro-Wrestling feds and Tamura having suffered some big losses in MMA surely didn't help.

Serious question: How big of draw Roman really is for WWE brand? by Hiroshi Tanahashi - Fri, 23 Jun 2017 16:26:39 EST ID:/K6Tmye1 No.5773390 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

Some claim him to be the biggest active draw right now. He is also apparently most over casual draw since Cena. Is this really true?

He's been shoved down everybody's throats for 3 years, booked as the strongest face in the company, and is constantly promoted and given new merch/catchphrases/accomplishments.

WWE is just a huge self fulfilling prophecy to Vince. He sells the most merch because he's been pushed far harder than anybody else for far longer. And there's a portion of WWE's fanbase that will basically follow whatever narrative WWE sets out

>Is basically the only reason people support him out of complete ignorance and pity, as well as to make their own bullied selves feel they're standing up for someone being treated as they were bullied.

Can confirm. I manage to get a friend to watch wrestling with me, he felt sorry for Roman.

Then by the fourth show we watched together he came to the conclusion on his own that the smarks were right, Roman fucking sucks.

It has been 10 years since the death of Chris Benoit, tomorrow it will have been a decade since the discovery of the body of Chris, Nancy, and Daniel, as well as the RAW tribute show that aired hours later.

Yeah, say what you will about prison culture, but prisoners treating pedophiles and child murderers as "open season" targets is about the only halfway decent thing about it.

Yeah between somebody wanting to beat The Canadian Crippler and the imminent death of all offenders to children he wouldn't have been in there too long before dying.

Yes, because he was given the nickname based on a freak accident involving Sabu, not because he actively tried to cripple people on purpose.
