It definitely feels like they're building to something. Maven Bentley was in attendance watching and the crowd went nuts for the title change, I have to imagine it's going somewhere.
Also, the whole show was great. Quick results of DEFY 3: SWERVE CITY
>Moose defeats Mike Santiago. Moose is crazy over, Santiago is a pretty damn good local guy who has improved every show. Moose hit a springboard moonsault and won with the ripcord discus lariat. Santiago took a bad shot to the leg and was limping, hope it's nothing serious as he has a lot of potential.
>The Cunninghams ("The Catch" Carl Cunningham and Big Jack Cunningham) defeat Los Sexi Mexis (Ave Rex and Sonico). Los Sexi Mexis keep attempting super complex lucha stuff and keep botching them nonstop. Big Jack sits on the top rope (he's 6'8, 300+ lbs), Carl climbs onto his shoulders and hits a crazy flying splash for the win.
>Davey Richards defeats Lio Rush to win the CZW Title. Again, great match, hot crowd, total shock at the title change.
>They announced a women's tournament called the Tacoma Cup. First two entrants are Angelina Love and local talent Kate Careny. Drexl, a guy who looks like an extra in a Rob Zombie movie and who got pinned by Kate at the first DEFY show, comes out and drops her directly on her head, then Angelina whacks Drexl with a chair.
>Joey Ryan defeats Mr. Fitness (with Steve West). West is the most hated heel in DEFY, super obnoxious asshole who spent the match spraying Mr. Fitness down with water to keep him at peak performance. Joey Ryan introduced local talent Eddie Van Glam as his manager, crowd loved it because Eddie is probably the most popular local talent in DEFY. Mostly a comedy match but had a few cool spots, Joey wins by sticking a lollipop in Mr. Fitness' mouth and superkicking him.
>Taya defeats Christina Von Eerie. Match was a bit sloppy at times but for the most part was a lot of fun, Taya wins with a Northern Lights Suplex and Double Stomp.
>Shane Strickland defeats John Morrison. Morrison cuts an anti-Seattle promo before the match. Strickland is the #1 star in DEFY, always gets the loudest reactions. Damn fun match, Strickland wins with a weird new armlock submission after failed interference from Taya. After the match, Morrison, Taya, Strickland, and Strickland's girlfriend have a dance-off, crowd ate it up.
Overall a really fun show, these first few DEFY shows have all been great. Looking forward to the DEFY GIGANTIC Doubleshot in June with Cody Rhodes, Pentagon Jr, Rey Fenix, reDRagon, and the tourney to crown the first DEFY Champ.
