One of my favourite promos from recent memory. Really enjoyed his 2011 run, a real Indian summer for him.

Actually now that he is retired he has been scheduled to appear at NEW (NorthEast Wrestling) events. https://www.facebook.com/NortheastWrestlingNEW/ . This wrestling seems to have a lot of wrestlers let go by WWE, retired from WWE, as well as a bunch of indie wrestlers like their current champ Flip Gordon.

This is now a Mark Henry appreciation thread
My favorite Mark Henry line was when he beat someone up and then yelled to the crowd that if he told them to pay to breath they'd better do it.
Or something along those lines.
Heel Henry was fun. Not as fun as face Henry.

>Or Cenawinslol so Cena can put Bryan over and make him a star, starting the Authority stuff with Orton

I too would have loved to see Henry win, as do many, but they often forget what came after Cena tapping Henry out.

Good. Book him against Big Show in a 'Loser and Winner Leave' match and get rid of both these fucks. Actually add Kane and make it a 3 way.

I liked Henry's last run when he was going against Show (ironically enough) for the WHC, and I am glad that he got that shine, but all three of those 'monsters' are a joke and have been for a long while. I like Harper and would like to see him elevated to 'monster' heel levels.

Mark Henry was a testament to it never being too late to become really fucking good in wrestling. Sometimes it's just about finding that last piece of the puzzle and Mark Henry became a legit main eventer for a bit there. I wish it had happened earlier in life, since his run was so much shorter than it deserved to be, but the Hall of Pain gimmick was fucking great. I wish they had given him a win over Cena, too, but I realize that's a lot to ask for.

this is the ACTUAL big wrestling news story today, not some drug whore having to fuck off because she broke a nail.

it's still totally embarrassing that he didn't have WAY more time as a top champion. oh well, at least he's getting out with his health and not too much wear and tear (relatively speaking).

Cass has the size, but Corbin probably fills the 'monster' role better.
I'd still put Lars and Dain way over both of them though. With a proper singles push (i.e. not making him an idiot savant) again I'd even put Rowan over them too.

His proto-Hall of Pain run in ECW with Tony Atlas is also very underrated, I would go as far as to say that it was the exact moment he showed main event potential. Of course he then went to Raw and became a jobber dressed like the fucking Kool Aid mascot, grinding all his momentum to a halt, but it did lead to this amazing promo and him proceeding to run Smackdown the rest of the year.

That could be because he's been away so long and I've forgotten how tall he is. He'll need to re-teach me that.

Mark Henry is also a testament of you an always make a comeback.
He's been the sidekick monster, he's been the maineventer, he's been Worf to put a new strong man over, he's been the comedy gimmick, he's been a big jobber and each time he's made the best of it and still remaining relevant to the fans. Always in the back of the fan's mind.
And there were times when he just came back stronger, meaner, leaner, and got over.
Other wrestlers in his shoes would have gotten stuck in a gimmick and/or faded into obscurity.

FOR 15 YEARS, I AIN'T SHARING THIS WITH NONE O'YALL

My favorite WHC run because you could feel Mark venting his frustrations over those years of agony of never making it to the top.

And that godlike swerve on Cena when he "retiring".

Thank you so much, Mark.

The only thing I remember about Mark Henry was Bryan Alvarez telling me stories about Mark Henry's career

Like during the Henry/Undertaker feud he instead of commentating on the actual match he spent the remainder of the review reading a dictionary with Vinny looking for big intelligent words that summarize the word shit

Also stuff I am learning from the Retro Report. He debuts with the Nation, briefly and pointlessly gets in a feud with The Rock (because I dunno what Russo was smoking that day) and now in 99 with the Nation disbanded and The Rock being the perfect money making object for the WWF to beat WCW with for the next 2 years he's just randomly paired with D-Lo who're both in a feud with PMS which if I recall doesn't go that long because that is when Stasiak or however the fuck you pronounce his name debuts as Meat a gimmick that gets killed by Ken Shamrock
