It's not all their fault. They're mainly doing polish-up work for Yuke's, which has continually kitbashed the original SmackDown! engine for about two decades. If 2K could program an entirely new game, it would likely be far better than a patchwork PS1 game with a PS4 spitshine.

This is the Rareware fallacy. Yuke's is just a company; people leave and new people arrive all the time, which changes the company culture and the quality of the products they make. Even though some of the same people are still there (which can be confirmed from viewing the Day of Reckoning and 2K18 credits), that doesn't mean the Yuke's of today can do no wrong.

No that means the game is so good it's playable 10 or 12(if you live in Japan) months and years later

>WWE games releases every year
And don't last the full year before the next one
>people to this day are playing old school WWE games
Because theyre still playable after all those years, like Fire Pro. The best thing that can break such a cycle? If another great came came out that you can go back to at some point. There are many game franchises that have this or had this. WWE hasn't had this, with sheer generosity, since 07.

I wish upon you a good game for you to play cuz it seems like it's been a while for you. No offense

False

SvR 2011 was the final and last good game they made

Then it became “WWE’12, WWE’13, WWE2k14” etc.

2011 had their most perfected gameplay in terms of speed And skill both matching a fighter’s mentality in terms of counters and faking out your opponents. Create-a-move was there and it made it possible to perform a running signature like the Spear to a diving crossbody opponent. You could throw someone to the corner have them counter with a crossbody of the turnbuckle and then counter their counter with a fucking midair spear.

2k can go fuck themselves i havent gotten a single wwe game since.

I guess I could say the variety of strikes and moves you can do per position are really nice. Like, you can really fine tune what you do when. I've actually had some great matches in 2k18 against harder AI.

To me, playing it as a game is playing it wrong. Instead, I like to book matches and develop a narrative or storyline in my own fed (fuck their clunky universe mode though). I really enjoy the creation suite, but that's just me.

As a game, firepro is definitely more fun, and it doesn't run as slow as Naito walking to the ring. I have a strong PC, and it still gets framedrops because 2K is ass shit at optimizing its games. It's like they don't even try.

So variety of movewise, I enjoy booking my own custom matches in the 2k series, but that's basically to satisfy my own autism and I don't recommend other people spend money.

Thank you. The 2K series has been sort of a disappointment mostly since 2K14, but I will give it credit in that its creative suite is above most wrestling games these days.

I find the gameplay to be too slow & plodding to really have fun with, but stuff like Create An Arena is pretty solid.

What justifies you to buy the same game every year?
I'd probably buy WWE games if they weren't such half-assed yearly releases.
I remember the first year it was on Steam, someone posted screenshots of the coding and shit was dating back to SvR 2007.

Like I said: Yuke's has been using a kitbashed version of the original PS1 SmackDown! engine for the past two decades. It's how WWE games get to come out on a yearly basis - and why they're buggy as fuck every year. (Hell, even though they might say otherwise, I still believe at least one animation in the modern WWE games comes from the PS1 era, regardless of whether I can prove that belief.)

The only fun to be had is to go full autismo micro-management mode with every detail to make your own wrestling company in the game but that's just not my jam. I never turn games in, but I bought the digital copy of 18 when it was on sale, and I've never turned a game off quicker. Even 17 held my interest for a bit.
But trying to play not just the career, but any mode was just Loading Screen: The Game.
Then I watch a mate play NBA2KWhatever and it's like, you go out for other sports but you can't properly represent a wrestling game story mode, wherein by being the PRO WRESTLING Genre, you have license to do any ridiculous story things you want?
Nah, Load for 5 minutes to get your entrance interrupted and do nothing tangible for the next half hour.

That being said, this years will probably just be a new variation of last years 'new' game so the cycle has begun again I'm sure.

Same. 2k14 was a recent peak and then steeply downhill from there

Precisely one 2K-fan in this thread laid out a valid argument as to why he likes the yearly games an the other is quite clearly a VPN-hopping autist out to prove something or other by calling everybody names and bringing nothing to the table. The games suck and have sucked for years, but 2K will make their money hand over fist after they get people hyped with an excellent trailer and the cycle begins anew. WWE and 2K are perfect partners, really, they just keep making money despite themselves.

Looking forward the big dawgs at nL breaking it though, that's always a fun stream.

Because you load in, to load in, to have several seconds of play in your backstage arena, to load in, to have some game, to load in, to load in, to load in.

That's what I figured. Oh well, it's not something I'll likely wind up going out of my way to do.

I think the last one I tried was '16. It was just not fun- overly boring simulationist crap with 500 bloody strikes and holds to program when you CaC and an awful submission system.
Just no fun to play at all.
