if you want to go to the Impact Zone at Universal Orlando, here's some notes from when I went for that show Pentagon jr won the belt at
  • Sealed snacks are okay. I brought a pack of beef jerky. I think sealed bottled soft drinks are okay but I'm not sure, but unsealed was apparently not cool. You can call Universal for more details. All the concern is at the main checkpoint for Universal near the parking lot.
  • Parking is $22 which is really fucking lame. If you show up after 6pm it's free but you have much worse chances of getting in to the show. Earlier is better. They do allow some annual passholders to the front of the line for Impact at the show I went to, so there may be a way to juggle a cheap pass and parking at 6. I don't know if there's any tricks like parking at a motel up the road and walking a mile or something, but it might be worth looking at.
  • When you get to the holding pen for Impact try finding some staff and asking if there's tickets or anything. When I was there you had to get a fastpass type stub for some reason, even though it was free. Universal employees didn't know about this so make sure you check with the people working on Impact crowd control.
  • Umbrellas were allowed in the line-up area, but I don't know about inside the Impact Zone.
  • Photos are okay, videos are not.
  • Ringside is basically standing room every man for himself. You go to get beer, tough shit your spot's gone.
  • There's apparently some beer for sale but I heard Uni half-asses the concessions stand.

yeah it's obviously a newer sign from the Impact branding, too

I don't know what santeria voodoo gypsy Jarrett pegged in the face with a tortilla, but there's obviously a genuine supernatural curse of just enough failure hovering around it forever

I'm still looking forward to when they come back to the Impact Zone, though.

They are never done with the Impact Zone, despite their efforts, they always come running back.

The issue they have is that because they abandoned Soundstage 21 which they had an all year lease on it to go on the road full time (which backfired), they don't have a permanent lease any more.

So basically they can only get into Orlando as long as there's an available soundstage. No soundstage, no tapings.

Supposedly they want to tape in six locations on a regular basis now (no doubt split between the US and Canada), no doubt Universal Studios will be one of them.

Page vs. Martinez is officially a street fight for the World TV Title. Also, Austin Aries is confirmed to appear at Best In The World (I'm guessing something with Silas and Kenny since they haven't been announced on matches yet).

Lastly, we got a match for the Fairfax TV tapings. Kushida vs Gresham should be a fun one.

Hopefully people have more integrity and respect for them compared to streaming an ROH iPPV or NJPW event. I'm not going to criticize pirates, as that would make me a hypocrite. But if anyone cares at all about the health of the wrestling business, then they should pay for this. It'll only be a few bucks and it's worth it.

Chances are it'll probably end up on Twitch. No Nate Glass nonsense required.

And them broadcasting All In isn't a surprise, they wanted Don Callis to be All In and he accepted, so there was probably something to that. I wonder if they'll ask Kevin Kelly too or will ROH demand their guy.

No. The UMBC Event Center (where BITW is taking place) has a capacity of 5,000. They are doing TV tapings the following day at Eaglebank Arena, which can hold 10,000. Though the setup for that one is about 1,000.

baltimore was the unofficial home of ROH (might still be?) so it's odd they can't sell out. I was at last tv tapings in my town and the crowd was way down from the past few (that had NJPW guys on it including Omega).

Kinda. Baltimore is more Sinclair's headquarters with ROH trying to move operations there (they opened a new dojo there recently), but it isn't one of their stronger markets like New York or Philly.

But I imagine the benefit of using this place compared to the previous one (which held under 1,000 people and constantly sold out) outweigh the negative of not selling out.

are we all sleeping on MLW?

>Major League Wrestling’s upcoming Battle Riot show (7/19) from New York City has been announced as the promotion’s first-ever 2-hour network special.

>MLW: Battle Riot will air on BeIN Sports on Friday night, July 27th at 8pm ET.

>The news was first reported by Sports Illustrated.
>MLW CEO Court Bauer told SI that he strongly considered offering MLW Battle Riot as a traditional pay-per-view event, but ultimately it was decided that a 2-hour broadcast on beIN SPORTS was the best way to reach (and reward) MLW’s growing audience.

>“I heavily considered pay per view, but I want to give the fans something special and do it for free,” said Bauer. “Some promoters put a price tag on everything and I could see the temptation here, but I want to reward fans that have been supporting us. Disruption is key for MLW, and a free two-hour special is the ultimate disruption. BeIN is a great partner and I’m glad they agree.”

>The card for MLW Battle Riot is stacked (more on that below) and will be headlined by the first-ever Battle Riot match. 40 wrestlers will compete in this unconventional battle royal, with eliminations taking place when someone is pinned, submits or is thrown over the top rope. The match will start with two participants, with a new entrant every 60 seconds.

>The winner of MLW Battle Riot gets a shot at the MLW World Heavyweight Championship (currently held by Shane Strickland) “anytime, anywhere.”
Here’s the current card for MLW Battle Riot, which takes place on Thursday night, July 19th from Melrose Ballroom in Long Island City:

>Battle Riot Battle Royal. Participants include John Morrison, Pentagon, Teddy, Davey Boy Smith Jr., “PCO” Pierre Carl Ouellet, “Filthy” Tom Lawlor, Hornswoggle and many more.
>The Hart Foundation (Teddy Hart and Davey Boy Smith Jr. with Brian Pillman II) vs. ACH & Rich Swann
>John Hennigan vs. Low Ki
>Also signed to appear on July 19th: World Heavyweight Champion Shane Strickland, MLW Tag Team Champions Pentagon Jr. & Rey Fenix, Salina de la Renta, Barrington Hughes, Maxwell J. Friedman, Sami Callihan

Fusion is a really good weekly show and MLW puts out a solid product. Great mix of major indie talent and local talent with good production values and commentary (moreso Tony than Rich). We should be able to stream the 2 hour special live and replay it in the usual timeslot after NXT and I’m looking forward to it. I might add MLW to this general for the next thread but we’ll see, for now it’s still in the indie thread.

Jimmy Havoc has held championships from all around the globe, including the Progress Championship and CZW Tournament of Death 2016, and is the first competitor announced for the inaugural ROH International Cup!

>Havoc thrives against more physical and violent wrestlers like Masada and Matt Tremont but is known for his victories against Pete Dunne, Tommy End, Will Ospreay, and Matt Riddle! >Havoc has one of the premiere reputations on the independent scene and enters the tournament as not only its first entrant but also its favorite. Havoc will face an American star to be named in the coming weeks as part of the first round in Edinburgh, with the winners of the first four matches of the International Cup meeting in the semifinals in Doncaster, and the winners of the two semifinal matches meeting in the finals in Doncaster. The inaugural winner of the International Cup will face whomever the Ring of Honor World Champion may be on Sunday August 19 in London!

speaking of MLW ...

http://www.prowrestlingsheet.com/mvp-major-league-wrestling/#.WzrYVxJKg0o
>MVP took to Instagram this weekend to announce he’s no longer doing business with Major League Wrestling, describing the situation as “unfortunate.”

>“For reasons that I won’t get into — because I still don’t completely understand — but, you know, it’s professional wrestling,” MVP said in regards to his departure.

>The former two-time WWE United States champ noted he’ll still appear in a few more episodes of MLW Fusion, but after that he’ll be gone. Adding, “MLW has an awesome cast of tremendously talented young people whom I support whole-heartedly.”

>Montell explained he’d continue to work indie dates, while possibly relaunch his “VIP Lounge” podcast elsewhere — and ended the video saying, “card subject to change.”

>Back in April, the 44-year-old tweeted out interest in possibly returning to WWE. Earlier this year, he appeared in backstage segments as part of the RAW 25 broadcast.

Impact must be zig-zagging their way back to the Impact Zone after the Windsor tapings are done. Not only are they hitting Greensboro, next month they have a tie-in show scheduled in Knoxville. This actually makes sense as it does get them on the road, apparently more successfully than the New York shows last year and that scramble to have half-full circus tents on the week before BFG a few years ago.
They hit the road now, they mingle with other indie groups, getting Twitch to cover it all, giving indie feds some airtime, and Impact hits the road as fans have wanted for years now. I think Impact is the wrestling show for people who don't into tv.

I went to Electric Haze for a Beyond show in October. It was a blast and there was Cage, Riddle, Dunn, ZSJ, EYFBO and Martin Stone amongst others I'm forgetting. (and Lelgin who I'm leaving out intentionally, though this was prior to the whole scandal) It had such a punk/metal show to it which is the best way that comes to mind to describe it.

I just hope Penta at the Impact/Xcite show. Also there's an arcade/retro game shop near the venue in Binghamton that I've wanted to check out for a while. Can't wait for the card announcements.

A few shares make her a minority stockholder, she has no control in Impact anymore. Any current complaints to pre 2017 Impact are dead in the water. I don't care if Dixie Carter falls off the face of the earth, so I do agree in that aspect though.
Velvet Sky ever being relevant to the wrestling aspect though? Only for the eye candy. Her actual wrestling was Rebel-tier.

TNA's biggest problem was the absolute mismanagement of the company which was fucking it over in many ways. The worst being of course the TV deals getting cancelled, something they haven't managed to sort properly yet. Being on POP TV is only a safety cushion but they're not getting paid good over it and the viewers have for the most part left the product a long time ago. Clearly as seen last year they have tried to find something better but can't get anywhere. Any network who put bids in for WWE and lost out this year won't take a serious look at the Impact product given their longing issues.

Sure, they have a solid management for the most part now despite early issues such as the Broken Hardy debacle and Jeff Jarrett fucking himself out of getting back in the door through GFW. There's still some issues here and there (Josh Matthews still employed being one) and they still need to get a better TV deal to get properly back on their feet but at least they recognise the huge hole they've made themselves over nearly a decade and are slowly trying to get out of it.

>You’re not going to believe this…

>In my spare time, I enjoy educating myself and becoming a well rounded Adventurer. You can’t say yes to everything without being prepared for anything. I have received many degrees as well, theology, physiology, psychology and a variety of other “ology’s”.

>Today I will regale you with my tales of space travel! Yes, space travel. Hard to believe, I know.

>It all started some years ago while I was en route to North Carolina via Christchurch, New Zealand. I decided to stop off to “wet my whistle” at a local speak easy where I met an older gentleman by the name of Reginald Val Valman. Reginald works for the Local Aeronautics and Space Administration or LASA, similar to NASA but without all the red tape, safety measures and other legal mumbo jumbo that takes Adventure away from so many. LASA is a private organization that specializes in the discovery of alien life forms and rare artifacts. A few things that are right up this Adventurers ally.

>Reginald took a liking to me (as most people do) and he suggested I’d be perfect for his next expedition to an undiscovered planet. Naturally I agreed. I spent the next several minutes studying all I could about space travel. As I finished my last pint, I agreed to meet Reginald first thing in the next morning and prepare for take off.

>I was not nervous. An adventurer never gets nervous. I’m often asked if things scare me or if I’m ever overcome with fear, to which I exclaim “Sorry, I left my fear pills in my other pants”.

>The launch was a success, we managed to land on a new planet that I ended up naming ‘Aventura’ (it is yet to be accredited). We came across a race of extra terrestrial life not unlike humans but lacking mouths, eyes, ears, limbs and intellect. This new race adopted me as their leader. The men wanted to be me and the women wanted to be with me. Nothing new to this adventurer, I was blessed with a chiseled jaw and pearly white teeth, attractive no matter what race, gender or species.

>As an adventurer who can’t say No, I naturally obliged the women of Aventura as frequently as possible, the men did not take too kindly to this scenario and planned an attack on your favourite adventurer. Luckily for me, Reginald made me savvy to their plans and we made plans of our own to leave Aventura in the dust. The men of Aventura cut us off at the shuttle entrance. I offered Reginald as a peace offering in return for my safety. The Aliens agreed, Reginald did not. As I headed home on the shuttle I decided to prepare a story for Reginald’s family of his valiant sacrifice. I’ll never forget how he told me “-you’ll live to regret this, Stone Rockwell” indeed I would be the one living. Thank you, Reginald. I briefly thought of changing the name of Aventura to something that might honor Reginald. I just really like the name Aventura!

Mark Haskins has been announced the ROH UK shows as well. Tour is shaping up nicely so far.

In other ROH news, someone compiled the attendance for ROH during the first half of the year, which is an estimated 32,384. For perspective, attendance was 24,307 at this point and 46,457 for the entire year. So at this rate, it looks to be another record-breakinig year for the company.

Because Flip & Cody has been an angle building for months so there's more heat there than if it was Cody challenging Magnus. Admittedly, they've got me hooked; I've presumed that this all ends with Cody becoming the NWA Worlds Champ so he can do a vanity run with his dad's belt. Flip getting booked and becoming Cody's last obstacle is perfect storytelling ... but I'm worried this is hotshotting the NWA title around. Flip could end up like Ronnie Garvin or Tommy Rich.

I can't believe people are buying this loser as a legit wrestler. His mom and dad paid for his wrestling school and bought him Randy Orton sleeves to match his ripoff gimmick before his debut, then everyone laughs at him so he covers them in Jeff Hardy's tattoos and steals his gimmick, THEN he bought his way into ROH through his dad's job at Sinclair and is repacked as Rob Zombie. This guy is an embarrassment.

>The ROH Dojo is proud to announce its affiliation with four of the top, internationally-recognized wrestling schools in the world. The World Famous Monster Factory, Team 3D Academy, Maryland Championship Wrestling, and the Power Factory will provide a pipeline of talent and well over 150 years combined in professional wrestling among their trainers and lineages.

>The World Famous Monster Factory has produced numerous World Champions seen on television since the late 1970s, with Larry Sharpe training some of the day’s top stars before the Monster Factory officially launched in Paulsboro, NJ 1983 under its historic name. With a lineage that includes the Big Show, Sheamus, Bam Bam Bigelow, Tatanka, and King Kong Bundy, ROH alumni like Raven, Cliff Compton, and Sonjay Dutt, and current ROH stars like ROH World Television Champion Punishment Martinez, Coast 2 Coast, and Gabby Ortiz, the Monster Factory, led by Danny Cage, possess one of the longest and most accomplished lineages of alumni of any school in the country.

>For 11 years, Bully Ray and brother Devon have owned and operated Team 3D Academy in Kissimmee, FL, providing hands-on training from the most accomplished professional wrestling tag team of all time. Bully and Devon have most recently produced stars like former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Guerrillas of Destiny, Rob Terry, former Women of Honor star Kenadi Brink, and dozens of other stars that have been seen on television for organizations all across the globe!

>Since 1998, Maryland Championship Wrestling in Joppa, MD has served as a training home for some of the fastest-rising stars in professional wrestling. The host of the Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup each year, MCW has turned from one of the top showcases in the world for the brightest independent stars to one of the top producers of blue-chip talent in the world, including former ROH star Lio Rush, WWE star Velveteen Dream, and dozens of stars seen on international television. Head ROH Dojo Trainer Joey from Wrestling has led many of the most recent classes, building on the legacy built by current trainer Dan McDevit.

>The Power Factory is the youngest school among the affiliates of the ROH Dojo but its trainers have nearly 40 years combined experience in professional wrestling. Ray “Glacier” Lloyd and QT Marshall lead the Power Factory in Buford, GA, near Atlanta, GA! Lloyd and Marshall have state of the art facilities, as well as strength coaches and dieticians to help you get to the next level and have seen blue-chip prospects like Cody Vance and more appear on international television in the just-under-one year they have been in existence!

>These four schools will serve as partners for developing talent that will train in, compete for, and wrestle at the ROH Dojo, working on wrestling, communication, and all other aspects needed to become a ROH star. Keep it locked in to ROHWrestling.com for the latest news on the ROH Dojo and its affiliates!

Once at a bar he explained how his tattoos were different than Randy Orton's because they are trademarked and the guy wouldn't re-do them on him. http://www.prowrestlingsheet.com/pco-impact-offer/#.W0kbmRJKg0o
>Pierre Carl Ouellet, better known these days as PCO, claims he turned down an offer from IMPACT Wrestling in hopes of returning to WWE.

>The 50-year-old 3-time WWE tag team champ spoke with Grizzly Media about what he hopes to accomplish in the latest phase of his career.

>“My goal is to fight the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 35. My PCO character is a bit like a French Frankeinstein, and is tailor-made to fight the Deadman,” said PCO “I am presently in an incredible form, and I am in all the major events of the independent scene. I declined an offer from TNA because I really believe that I can reach WWE for one last run.”

>The wrestler did not reveal when IMPACT made the offer.

>Old school fans will remember PCO as half of the Quebecers tag team with Jacques Rougeau in the mid-90s. In 1995, WWE repackaged him as a pirate — a character regularly mentioned on the Something To Wrestle podcast.

>PCO’s 21st century “coming out” party of sorts took place at Joey Janela’s Spring Break 2 during a brutal battle with Walter. Since then, he’s been one of the hottest acts on the independent scene.

Report: Jeff Cobb Signs With Ring Of Honor
https://www.sescoops.com/report-jeff-cobb-signs-with-ring-of-honor/

>Former Olympian Jeff Cobb has signed with Ring of Honor, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.

>After representing Guam at the 2004 Olympic games in men’s freestyle wrestling, Cobb went pro in 2009 and has been making a name for himself in various promotions across the world. He is scheduled to debut for Ring of Honor at Saturday’s television tapings from Center Stage in Atlanta.

>Known for his amateur credentials, power move-set and agility, Jeff Cobb has long been one of the top free agent prospects in the industry. He’s competed for New Japan Pro Wrestling, Lucha Underground, PWG, Progress, MLW and more.

>Several months ago, it was reported that Impact Wrestling offered him a 2-year deal. He has independent bookings scheduled through the end of August, including an appearance for ICW on July 29th and a match against Brian Cage on August 19th for California Vagabond Wrestling.

>With WWE continuously signing top independent talent and Ring of Honor looking to hold its ground and build momentum, this is a very strong acquisition for ROH.

He did take some pretty rough landings in the match on Sunday. I'd have to go back and watch the match again but maybe the landing on the ramp or a few of those drops on the floor.

I've never been the biggest fan of Moose as a worker despite there being a lot of potential there, but it was the best match I have seen from him this past Sunday. Would be a shame if it was over like that but also wouldn't be surprised if they are trying to build up a comeback for him for Bound For Glory.

>Rey Mysterio has his All In match scheduled.

>On September 1st, Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks will be hosting All In which they have referenced wanting to be like "wrestling Woodstock". So far only a few matches have been announced including the NWA Heavyweight Champion who is currently Nick Aldis being challenged by Rhodes, Marty Scurll versus Kazuchika Okada for the first time, and Adam Page and Joey Janela in a singles match.

>On Monday's Being the Elite, Nick Jackson announced a six-man tag team match at the end of the video. His brother Matt Jackson reminded him that they need "three thumbs up" to approve something but Nick Jackson insists he's going to do it because it was his birthday.

>The six-man tag team match will be the team of Bandido, Fenix, and Rey Mysterio Jr versus the team of Kota Ibushi and the Young Bucks. Neither of these teams have competed together before.

JR and King and commentating this. That's going to be awful. There is going to be THREE Fozzy shows and THREE Jericho podcasts on this cruise. It sounds so carny. A bunch of shitty metal bands that are not very good will be playing as well because Fozzy never made any talented friends over the years.

There will be the sea of honor tournament which seems pretty decent but feels like it will be used to pad out the 4 days of being stuck on a boat.

DDP Yoga will be offered on the boat and DDP will be there. Meet and Greets with Mick Foley, Raven and Ricky The Dragon Steamboat!? Pat Patterson is announced as being there as well for some reason.

Costs almost 2000 dollars plus airfare. Wew.

I just looked at the line up and holy shit, that is some true garbage selection. I'm a big Motorhead fan and love Phil Campbell as a guitar player but even his band fucking blows.

I would never want to go on a cruise with a bunch of wrestling fans. To each their own though.

Which bands?

Jericho's idea of metal is Dadrock bands like AC/DC and Metallica. I'm not sure if he ever explored anything extreme or deeper than that. He basically likes rock music, but he still likes to throw it under the mainstream umbrella term of "metal".

from the Observer
>A piece of trivia regarding however this ends up going down in the future. The reason Don Callis was brought in to run the company is because Leonard Asper of the Asper family, which owns The Fight Network, Impact and tons of things in Winnipeg (the old Winnipeg connection) had a conversation with Chris Jericho about how the company has lost so much money and all of its problems. Jericho told him that Impact had been run by snakes and that those type of people are only going to rip him off. He went so far as to say that he should hire Callis to run the company or fold the company

I mean Don getting the NJPW gig did have a lot to do with Omega because when NJPW asked Omega about Don, he gave the green light. But if I recall correctly NJPW called up Storm and asked HIM if he'd do colour with Kevin Kelly and even Storm was like "You're kidding right? Lemme do you and favour and recommend someone who would actually be good at that" and send them in Don's direction.

http://www.lioncubjobsearch.com/2018/08/rohs-honorclub-conundrum.html
>"Never miss another ROH On Tour Event with live streaming to rohwrestling.com Android and iOS streaming, as well as Roku, Apple TV, and Android TV are coming soon!"
>"In the rare instance that an event is unable to be offered live, it will be presented on delay within the following 7 days."

>A bit late to the Over the Top (OTT)/ streaming world, Ring of Honor released its HonorClub to the world in March. Although any new technology has its bumps along the way, one appeal to fans was a promise to air (nearly) every On Tour Event- this would be shows that were normally ‘untelevised’ (non Pay Per Views and TV Tapings). Although there was fine print, the assumption would be that if it wasn’t on TV, it’d be available to stream.

>ROH hit a perception bump in the road this week when it was announced that 3 forthcoming UK shows (Honor Reunited) would air on FITE.TV at a premium price and be available as Video on Demand at a later time with Honor Club.

>On its face, not the biggest deal in terms of delivery of content. The Wrestling Observer reported that it will be available on the next day. Since the shows are in the UK, they’d have aired at odd hours live anyway.

>However, based on the expectations ROH created, it is a potential PR disaster. The fans expect to see every show at the premium yearly price ($120). To have to wait any time or pay a premium price for early access on another platform feels like a slap in the face to some.

>ROH really put themselves into a conundrum by promoting the airing of (nearly) every on tour event. Do these events drive subscribers to Honor Club? As one important part of the service- this is probably the primary draw. However, with ROH normally running just under 50 shows a year, there is no specific expectation on fans behalf of how many shows would air, just that they all would.

>It would have been smarter for ROH to state that at least one (or two) live events would air per month. In the current situation, it is expected that only 3 shows will air on the service live between July and October!

>What if live events touring becomes a major viable business for ROH and they’d like to expand? Revenues from meet and greets, merchandise and increased ticket sales could make that viable. However, now there is an additional built in cost for every show- airing it live. That includes broadcasters, camera people, broadcast lighting rigging, technology fees for streaming, etc. A show that was viable as a live event at X, must be considered with a cost of X + (Honor Club airing).

>ROH does have one ace possible up its sleeve: All In. ROH has the inside track on the main talent rights for the U.S. and would seem to have the most leverage for an airing on a streaming service. If it airs on HonorClub, good will is likely to return and even drive additional subscribers.

I was looking for the appropriate thread to post this in, but last night at Northeast Wrestling, the Bucks and Marty, while not contractually allowed to do a match, came out and went into the crowd, shot the shit with people and posed for pictures, and generally hyped people up for the show.

They said that:

1) All In will be on PPV. I took it to mean like traditional, cable PPV. I don't know if that was confirmed prior.

2) Since it was a NY crowd, that All In 2 would be in "New York." Obviously not upstate because that would be dumb. But maybe they're going for MSG the absolute madmen.

They also jokingly said "don't leak this on the internet" and I've seen surprisingly little chatter about it.

Being on Fite and HonorClub isn’t a surprise but that’s cool that they’ll also be on television albeit the first hour like how WWE shows the 2nd hour of the WM Kickoff on USA.

I was honestly expecting a battle royal due to the amount of talent announced for the show, so I'm happy.

Also, I'm wondering if Briscoes vs. SCU is gonna be for the ROH tag titles. Would be good exposure to do a title change on WGN America for it.

Two more matches announced for All In.

>Jay Lethal vs. the winner of the Over Budget Battle Royal for the ROH World Title

>A fatal four way between Madison Rayne, Tessa Blanchard, Britt Baker & Chelsea Green

Another important note of interest: Because All In is a PPV, ROH Honor Club is treating it as such. So if you got VIP membership, you don't have to worry. If you're a regular member, then it's 50% off the original price.

Speaking of Honor Club, G1 Supercard pre-sale start tomorrow. So hopefully you got your unique code for it.

I'm sure that you must have been a big proponent of Dennis Rodman, Karl Malone, Jay Leno and David Arquette leading up to their matches; right? You thought they all were exciting booking decisions?

Because each one of those celebrities doing matches were far more famous than Stephen Amell and each of the storylines made more sense than Amell vs Daniels.

I wouldn't have booked a non- wrestler in a match without a storyline.

Which begs the question: Why are you so excited for this?
Were you excited about all the matches of those far bigger stars which had actual storylines?
If so, I get it; you're into such things which is fine. If not, why?

The implication of "meme wrestler" are guys that are currently popular and hyped up everywhere, so much so that there are many people who either have never seen a match from the person and still talking about them constantly or just jumping in with everybody else because they need other people to tell them what a good wrestler is.

Then that person gets booked in every indie and indie superfed possible, and they are everywhere.

Sure, some people are legit excited for a guy like PCO, but the rest are just on the hype train.

https://mlw.com/2018/08/07/war-games-teams-revealed-for-september-6-clash/
>The sides have been chosen for MLW WAR GAMES® at Fort Lauderdale’s War Memorial Auditorium on September 6th! [Buy tickets]

>Sami Callihan will captain his team of ravagers featuring Jimmy Havoc, the Death Machines and a mystery man versus John Hennigan, Shane Strickland, Barrington Hughes, Kotto Brazil and the “Innovator of Violence’ Tommy Dreamer.

>For the first time in 15 years MLW will feature the 2-ring steel cage WAR GAMES® match… and it will mark the MLW debut of Tommy Dreamer, who will compete for the first-time ever in a WAR GAMES® match.

>Unleashing terror throughout MLW, Callihan and his Death Machines have targeted underdog Kotto Brazil and the mighty 469 pound Barrington Hughes after taking out their childhood hero MVP in a Boiler Room Brawl on MLW Fusion.

>All summer long Kotto and Barrington have clashed with Callihan and his Death Machines on MLW Fusion. September 6th there will be no place for them to go as they step foot in the 2 ring steel cage WAR GAMES® match.

>Callihan is also attributed with ending Strickland’s 3-month World Heavyweight Title reign and has been battling the ex-champion all summer long.

>Hennigan and Callihan collided in the final stages of the Battle Riot match and sources indicate there are undisclosed issues between the two that may be revealed on MLW Fusion in the weeks ahead. Tommy Dreamer was reportedly recruited by John Hennigan due to his penchant for the extreme and if there is one match that is extreme, it’s a WAR GAMES® match.

>Now the battlefield is set. However, one mystery remains: who is the 5th participant for Callihan’s Ravagers? We’ll just have to wait and see. But don’t wait to get your tickets to see WAR GAMES® live! You can purchase tickets now at MLWgo.com starting at just $10.

>The super card will also feature a FUSION TV taping for beIN SPORTS.

>Ticket start at just $10. You can purchase tickets now at MLWgo.com.

For starters, Chris Jericho and Don Callis are very close friends. They have a circle of friends, them, Raven, Lance Storm, etc. most of them are from the same area.

Anyway that's not to discount Callis because everything I've seen of Impact since he took over has been infinitely better right down to the imaging and branding. If you had ever listened to his podcast with Lance Storm he nearly always has a well thought out, solid take and explains his thoughts and comes up with great ideas.

Also, I only knew of him up until now as the retired wrestler who became WWF manager and one of the best color commentators ever when he was with Joey Styles in ECW. I did not know of his personal professional experience or the fact that supposedly he's a freemason.

IMPACT = ILLUMINATI

>We reported last week, via The Wrestling Observer, that Jericho used his Winnipeg connection to help Anthem Sports owner Leonard Asper figure out what he should do about Impact Wrestling's management. Jericho suggested Don Callis for the role, and he was also instrumental in helping Scott D'Amore receive a promotion. Jericho said that the company had previously been run by snakes and needed to put someone in charge who they could trust.

>Jericho had teased last month that he would "of course" consider signing with Impact Wrestling. Meltzer reported in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the belief in the business now is that Jericho "is destined" to go to Impact Wrestling. He added that Jericho's idea he once had of not upsetting Vince McMahon "isn't nearly as strong as it was months ago."

>Jericho spoke about the idea of not wrestling for other promotions in the United States during a July interview with Inside The Ropes.

>"It's not a matter of just going out and doing indies – and like I said – I always felt like the unwritten rule is I don't want to go into the states," Jericho said. "I felt like that would be a real slap in the face of Vince [McMahon].

>"Ya know if something ever went down with us, I probably would do a show in the states and we could probably fill the Cow Palace. Jericho and Kenny [Omega] rematch, or whatever it may be. "All In" I'd love to be a part of that, but 'A' it's in Chicago and 'B'…at the risk sounding like an asshole, but I can't lower my value by working one of these shows. It's about picking my spots with the right guys at the right places for the overall contract I'm signing."

Chris Jericho is a big enough star that he can wrestle wherever he wants without having to worry about WWE. I think him going to Impact would actually give the promotion a boost and I could see him having good matches with the likes of Austin Aries, Eddie Edwards, Pentagon Jr., etc.

/wooo/ is not going to react to this story at all but NXT (and probably Borash) just poached the guy who was producing all of Impact's backstage kino, the guy who worked behind-the-scenes with JB on the Broken segments

>World Wrestling Entertainment has hired James Long, The Head Coordinating Producer and Video Editor for Impact Wrestling, PWInsider.com has confirmed.

>Long was hired specifically for the WWE NXT brand and has been working for several weeks out of Orlando.

>Long, who also wrestled for OVW and independently (including a recent appearance for House of Hardcore) under the ring name Paredyse, was intimately involved in a lot of the Hardys "Broken Universe" content alongside Jeremy Borash. He had been with Impact since July 2014.

>During his time with Impact, Long was the Lead producer and coordinator of production of all taped and live vignettes and promos, managed multiple production teams at TV tapings and was involved in all facets of Impact Wrestling production, from graphics to video packages to creative and execution of digital and television content.

Also I never said NXT was shit. It's just very very difficult for me to enjoy it when I know it's WWEs dirty whore. It's like a beautiful hooker. Sure...that hooker is beautiful. Tits are perfect. Ass is perfect. At the end of the day it's still a hooker who is suckin dick all over the city for their pimp.

WWE is NXTs pimp. I can enjoy a good match, angle or video package from NXT but their is not much investment from me. I don't want to give NXT a cent of my money either. I will forever steal that shit. Same goes for WWE.

I give money to many other places including going to live shows of local indys that actually need the money. I refuse to give WWE and it's sub-companies money. Those wrestlers are getting paid fine and everyone involved is doing great.

Why don't you go to Taco Bell more to support the staff at your local Taco Bell? You're a dick for not eating Taco Bell more.

Support wrestling companies that need your support and stop buying WWE 2k games for 80 dollars.

I kinda get it.

I'm not going to claim to be a casual fan, but for someone posting here, I'm pretty casual. Last year I was watching Impact weekly and keeping up with the NWA, but not much else. This year I'm still following the NWA but missing episodes of Impact. It's not that the show is bad, it's just that I don't care about most of the characters. Rosemary is still cool but I don't know when she'll be back. I was starting to get behind Moose but he failed at Slammiversary. If I was to plump for a heroic character on the show right now, it'd probably be Matt Sydal and they keep telling me to hate him.

There's still enjoyable stuff on the show - especially their vignettes - but it's emotionally distant.

Because oVe are signed to Impact

Impact & MLW are letting their guys do guest spots in each other's promotions (like Fallah at Battle Riot, Abyss at War Games, Jimmy Havoc at Impact's MediaCon show). But they're not doing protracted runs where they work long building angles for the other's TV. As far as I can gather, it's the LU cast members that have the most flexibility bouncing between MLW and Impact (like Callihan, Mundo, Penta & Fenix)

In other news, this sounds pretty good:
>IMPACT Wrestling Heads to Mexico City for TV Tapings on Sept. 13-14
>IMPACT Wrestling today announced television tapings will take place on Thursday, Sept. 13 and Friday, Sept. 14 at Frontón México in Mexico City, Mexico, marking the first time the flagship weekly show IMPACT! will emanate from south of the border.

AAA has plenty of good talent and they draw good crowds, I'm sure this will look great on tv. Also there's plenty of good matchups like OVE vs OGTs, LAX vs El Poder del Norte and aaaa i can name most of the roster. I mean this can be the chance to see AAA talent without the shitty booking.

WAIT A MINUTE

AAA is using Impact to fuck over CMLL Aniversario lololololololol
http://www.thecubsfan.com/cmll/2018/08/20/impact-to-tape-in-mexico-on-09-13-09-14-iwrg-memes-puebla/

>That second day is the same night as the CMLL Anniversario show. Those advertised include Austin Aries, Johnny Impact, Eli Drake, Moose, Eddie Edwards, Sami Callihan, Pentagon Jr. & Fenix. Those last two have been announced as also appearing on the 09/14 CMLL show, so there may be an issue there. The press release mentions partnering with AAA & 52MX. a WON bit a few months ago had mentioned Impact wanting to strengthen its relationship with 52MX, and running a taping in Mexico City would certainly do that. Impact has run a show in Monterrey and used AAA footage on their own TV shows, but they’ve never taped from Mexico before.

>Impact will be taped at Fronton Mexico, a 4,200 seat building that was re-opened last week that includes a casino. It’s tough to say exactly how well this will draw without prices, but the novelty of getting a TV taping should be a draw. Going up against the Anniversario show on Friday is going to be tougher in selling tickets and getting talent (CMLL is unlikely to be OK with Penta & Fenix working the double shot), but Mexico City should be able to support to wrestling shows on one big night. All the people upset about no Rush versus LA Park now have another option. I’d expect LA Park himself has another option; given his raised profile, he seems a decent bet to make his Impact debut. (Er, return.)

>AAA is taping twice the week before, so there should be no conflict for them this week. I’d expect many of their wrestlers used both on top as a star names and also to fill out the show. Impact is on 52MX, but it’s unclear how many people are watching it; AAA fans haven’t reacted like Impact stars are known name when they’ve crossed over in the past. Impact should be able to get good media attention in the lead-up.

Some ROH news today:

Four matches have been signed for the next TV tapings in Philadelphia this weekend. Also there's going to be two title matches, Punishment Martinez defending the TV title against Dojo Pro Black Belt winner Aaron Solow and the six-man tag team titles will be on the line as Silas Young and The Bouncers (Brian Milonas and Beer City Bruiser) challenge for the titles against the champions.

KUSHIDA, EVIL and SANADA have been signed for Death Before Dishonor.

And ROH issued an apology for its streaming situation for Honor Re-United. I guess it had to do with HonorClub members not being able to watch live - https://www.rohwrestling.com/news/roh-officials-comment-honor-re-united-tour-streaming

Looking at the current seat layout, they have about 312 floor seats (which is about the same amount they had for Slammiversary). Depending on the size of the GA seating, they could do close to 1000 for Bound For Glory.

Only issue that comes up is the TV tapings, which have shown to not have the same turnout as the PPV.

more from meltz
>Another interesting twist regarding the Anniversary show is that Impact will be doing television tapings in Mexico City head-to-head. Impact announced tapings next on 9/13 at 9/14 at Fronton, a 4,200-seat building in Mexico City (which will be set up for a 2,000 capacity for Impact tapings), not all that far from Arena Mexico. This will be the first time in years that a U.S. promotion has taped television in Mexico City, and I believe the second time only, other than a Raw and Smackdown taping in Mexico City in 2011.

>CMLL can’t be happy with Impact running TV tapings in the same city head-to-head with their biggest show of the year, and at much lower prices. It becomes interesting because Fenix and Pentagon are booked for both shows on 9/14. They are close enough they could do both shows and that’s routine in Mexico for guys to work multiple shows on the weekend, but this situation is a little different than doing a couple of indie dates on the same night. This is two companies going head-to-head, since Impact has an affiliation with AAA, and going head-to-head on CMLL’s biggest show of the year.

>It’s doubtful Impact realized they were going head-to-head with the Anniversary show when they first made the date, although obviously they areaware now. But CMLL did not pull either guy off the anniversary show when they were advertised for the Impact tapings. Impact has used footage taped in Mexico several times in the past but this is the first full-fledged taping. Something noted is that most of the Impact wrestlers are unknown in Mexico City and they are bucking the biggest show of the year by CMLL, but more important, Impact’s television relies heavily on interviews, and how will the fans respond to constant English language interviews?

...
>Park is now in great demand all over Mexico, the hottest he has been in years
and perhaps drawing the best he has in a long career. Park is scheduled to be
one of the key players going forward with MLW, and he needs the mask to be at
that level. There is also talk of interest from other U.S. promotions, notably
Impact.

I mean WGN America has broadcast wrestling before as they used to air WWE Superstars and will air Ring Warriors starting on September 15. If All In Zero Hour does well ratings wise, maybe it will make them more open to the idea of making a deal with ROH and/or Impact. Might be harder for ROH since the Tribune buyout fell through but it would give ROH a new national cable network for its weekly show. Though with Impact, I don’t know how much of a viewership improvement it would be for Impact since WGN America is in slightly more homes than Pop but given that WGN America was apparently the #1 fastest growing entertainment network on television last year, its growth could help increase its viewers.

Fun show. A few card changes but nothing too bad and it ended up resulting in Santana vs. Homicide which was the highlight of the night. Eddie Edwards vs. Eli Drake was damn good too.

Funny thing that might end up cut considering Homicide was working heel. He sees some dude in a hat in the front row, has him come over the barrier, goes "oh you're a supporter" and he blows snot on the guy's hat. Funny thing is, in a very rural part of NY, that got a huge pop for Homicide which probably was not the intended reaction.

Definitely worth a watch in the tube when it goes up on the GWN app.

Agreed but I feel that the fans are pushing it as "different" more then the promotion. they do a little of it though. I think it needs to be said a bit because of how hostile a lot of wrestling fans are due to old TNA bullshit.

You know, it really needs to be said... they fuckin' did it. They've turned Impact around. They have momentum and hype again. They have an interesting roster, an entertaining TV show, and their last big PPV was a hit.

Anthem wants Impact to stop bleeding money and hiring Hogan is the opposite of their goal.

Good news, again. I really like this new direction because they're focused on rebuilding the company instead of cutting corners like Dixie or Jeff. It's funny how old tna fans are denying all of this success because they want more swerves and less wrestling on a wrestling show.

Like Josh said, one fan at a time.

>WWE officials are interested in signing Impact Wrestling star Killer Kross, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

>No word yet on if WWE has put feelers out to Kross but they are interested in the 33 year old because of his size and look. Kross stands at 6 foot 4 inches and weighs in at 265 pounds. It was noted that New Japan Pro Wrestling also has interest in signing the big man.

>Kross started with Lucha Underground in 2015 and recently debuted as The White Rabbit. He began working with Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide in 2017 and made his Impact debut earlier this summer. Kross, who won the Rising Star Award at the 2018 Cauliflower Alley Club ceremony, is currently involved in a stable with Moose and Impact World Heavyweight Champion Austin Aries.

I mean, taking Kevin Kross would be a positive for both sides. The guy just isn't very good, but with NXT, he could look like a star. I just don't buy him no-selling (or selling like a monster, if you will) his opponents, like he's not THAT big. I figure that in WWE, he'd be a maniac more than some no-seller, but then again, that's assuming WWE won't fuck him up by immediately sending him to the main roster.

I'm not saying he's a huge loss or that he's even all that good. It's just that people have always complained TNA/Impact rely too much on ex-WWE guys and big indie names rather than creating their own stars, and they definitely went out of their way to push this guy and WWE immediately swoops in and takes him.

WWE has been feeding to the dirt sheets for years that they don't see TNA/Impact as competition, but they definitely go out of their way to kneecap them whenever they can.

MLW news from pwinsider:
>Major League Wrestling has signed a deal with BeIn Sports to bring a Spanish language version of the MLW: FUSION series on beIN SPORTS en Español. This is being seen internally as a big clearance for MLW, potentially doubling the size of the series' weekly audience as as beIN en Español has a very strong audience thanks to their boxing and soccer rights. The first episode will debut this Tuesday and will be airing in the United States (including Puerto Rico) and Canada. Konnan, Pentagon Jr., Fenix and LA Park have all filmed interviews and promos to support the launch. The announcing team has not been announced yet, but I'd be shocked if Konnan wasn't involved.

>MLW Champion Low Ki and his manager Salina de la Renta (who was just signed to a long term deal by MLW, a smart move as she's obviously going to be a star) will be at the beIN SPORTS studios in Florida next week to promote the launch of the Spanish language version of the series. They will be appearing on a number of Be IN Sports series in English and Spanish.

>Kaci Lennox, who has been working as a backstage interviewer on MLW TV, has signed a deal with the company.

>There have been talks with New Japan Pro Wrestling about sharing Brian Pillman Jr. with the idea that sending Pillman, who is still very early on in his career, overseas will help his growth as a talent. His father made appearances for NJPW in the '90s through their relationship at the time with World Championship Wrestling. Pillman Jr. is signed to a multi-year MLW deal. The MLW deals require the talents to make MLW their priority on dates MLW has events scheduled but as they currently exist, the deals do not prevent the talents from appearing for other promotions, with the exception of WWE.

>Tickets for the company's Wrestlemania week event on Thursday 4/4 (going head to head with the Wrestlecon Supershow) in New York City atwill officially go on sale on 10/10 at 10 AM at www.MLWTickets.com.

>For those who have asked about MLW not having returned to Orlando at the Gilt Nightclub, it is not for lack of trying. The venue has had conflicting events on the dates MLW has reached out to book. MLW are now looking to run Saturdays, which are a big event night for clubs. Previously, they had been using the venue on Thursdays, which aren't as busy. MLW is still hoping to return there soon. There's a feeling that without the Orlando audience, they wouldn't have been in the position to get the TV deal and they really don't want to abandon the fans in the market.

>As noted previously, MLW is shifting their schedule to run Saturday events instead of Thursday next year. The original plan with the revival of the company was to run Thursdays and just run on a smaller scale With the TV deal and several sponsorships in place, they are now seeking to run more in different markets more often . The promotion had been working over the last few months to get talents a 2019 calendar of MLW dates in order to make sure there would not be issues with double-bookings. The hope is that a positive side-effect of the new schedule will be that talents will be sell more merchandise on Saturdays under the idea that live crowds will rise from the level they have been at on Thursdays, therefore there will be more fans spending money at the talents' gimmick tables.

>PCO, Pierre Carl Oulette, will be in regularly going forward.

>The company is working on making Brody King, who made a great impression at the Wargames event, in as a regular as well.

>MLW is talking with Sammy Guevara and working on bringing him in.

>The plan is to make the Wargames and the Battle Riot matches annual occurences.

>Tickets for the 11/8 Chicago debut go on sale Friday.

> Impact Wrestling officials have reportedly reached out to MLW World Champion Low Ki to come in for their upcoming shows in New York next month. Despite Impact talent appearing on MLW shows recently, there are some that feel that this was a move by design to hurt MLW. Low Ki declined the bookings out of loyalty to MLW. Impact had recently booked MLW's Jimmy Havoc earlier this month for a match in the UK where he was beaten by Sami Callihan. MLW has since booked Havoc to face Callihan in a "Spin the Wheel Make the deal" match at MLW Fury Road on October 4th at the Melrose Ballroom.

>Bound For Glory takes place on October 14th at the Melrose Ballroom in New York City, NY, just 10 days after MLW's October 4th TV taping at the same location. Impact officials have reportedly been also in talks with other venues that MLW regularly uses.
http://www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/2018/0919/645968/impact-wrestling-reaches-out-to-top-mlw-star-exclusive/

>It was reported yesterday that Pentagon & Fenix are committed to MLW though the end of 2019. PWinsider has confirmed that Pentagon & Fenix are locked into a contractual non-compete with Lucha Underground for that series until 2020. During the Impact tapings in Mexico City for TV tapings, the brothers, with the help of Konnan, entered into negotiations with Impact Wrestling for a new agreement on dates for next year that would likely see the pair get a raise. They plan to continue to split dates in Mexico between AAA and CMLL, with the goal to use the CMLL relationship with New Japan to try and get themselves into that promotion as well. They will still work indie dates when available in the US.

>Masked Republic has teamed with the brothers on securing a formal trademark on “The Lucha Brothers” name and a formal registration was completed with the trademarks granted across the board. Pentagon and Fenix are also going to be a major part of the Luchaverse series of comic books released by Chido Comics in conjunction with Masked Republic.

I highly doubt Impact was trying to shit on MLW. They have been working with other companies all over the world heavily. Impact has the same idea as a lot of other indies right now. It's Low Ki though. He's going to turn everything into a fight.

"Hey Low Ki wanna wrestle on our biggest PPV of the year?"
Low Ki: YOU'LL NEVER PUT MLW OUT OF BUSINESS! I'M WORLD CHAMPION! STOP BURYING ME! I'M LOYAL!REEEEEEE

Also Pentagon and Fenix are ballers. They managed to make everyone think they are going to WWE and now getting a pay raise all over the place. Working with AAA and CMLL to avoid mexican promotion beef. Trying to get in on NJPW action while simultaneously working both MLW and Impacts weekly shows.

Reading all this stuff about CMLL, Impact, AAA, MLW and BOLA makes me laugh at ROH even more.
