Those lunatics who are building a to-scale 1701-D Enterprise using the Unreal 4 engine have posted an update video. It looks fucking amazeballs. The shuttlecraft are flyable and that includes a runabout. And they optimized a bunch of graphics shit. Check it out.

No, that's from 4 months ago. OP's is the latest.

I bet nine forward really sucks, like there's no bar, just a coffee machine that never gets cleaned so every drink is mixed with the previous one.
Also most of the chairs and tables are wobbly, no napkins or coasters to fix it. If you complain about this to an engineer who has an actual name they just laugh in your face and walk off to tell their friends in ten forward.
No instruments or 3D chess available for entertainment, just a tic-tac-toe game with missing pieces and a sticky twister mat.
Everybody ridicules and does poor impressions of the "main" crew, but on the inside they are seething with jealousy and self-hatred.

when they've got the whole ship created the possibilities will be endless. people can create their own machinimas with ease, people can make their own games using it! if it has a fully funtioning and programmable holodeck as well, that'll be fucken' tits!

I really want a murder mystery game to be set in this, i think it'd be great!

A holodeck in a simulation would just be video games. It'd be programmable to the extent you can program anything. I guess there'd be a couple of differences. The safeties would randomly go off and you'd have to reload the sim if you died, and sometimes you'd get kicked out your game so Riker can load vulcan love slave.

I think you're more likely to be the vulcan love slave than get kicked out of the holodeck

Kind of ridiculous that the standard NPC locomotion algorithm in unreal engine 4 looks like it is from 2001.
Walking into walls, into each other then turning around without moving their legs accordingly, wtf, it was in FREAKING Half-life 1 .

Lt. Ro Laren - Sat, 16 Dec 2017 09:13:42 EST 5uU+DoWU No.63195 Reply
Plus NPCs still move like in the 2000s
Translate the model along a path and play animations to make it seem they walk. This approach was fine back then but now we would have the computing power to actually simulate every limb and joint in real time while a pre-trained neural network comes up with movements to do a specified task.
Has all been done in research over 5 years ago but for some reason that research remains just that: academic.

How resource intensive this would be for dozens of NPCs is a different matter but it's obviously not that far away.

The video is hilarious though. The generational tests and the simulated Takeshi's castle bridge ball with the fat dude beat the bird being defeated by jupiter though.

ARE YOU TALKING SHIT ABOUT MR. MOTT?!

He's literally the best barber in starfleet, being a Bolian he has always lusted for what he can never have: real hair. He is a consummate artist, a master of his craft. He put on a lot of weight since the early seasons though..

He was underutilized in every show, ESPECIALLY TNG. I appreciated his use as a supporting role in DS9, and as a one-off villain in VOY, but the reference in ENT felt forced, the graphics just weren't up to the task back when TOS was being shot, and I don't even want to see what STD does to him. I'm just glad they haven't tried to slip him in already.

I just want to let you know this made me laugh hysterically

but then I almost cried because I want so badly for it to be real, can you imagine a Mot centric episode? Just all about hair care, he solves everything by giving people haircuts and at the end the treaty is signed and everyone is happy

He deserved more than the minute of dialogue in Schisms and the two brief appearances (as the inferior skinny Mr.Mot)

Lt. JG Ayala - Mon, 28 May 2018 18:07:09 EST WedrHoVC No.64752 Reply
The real question about Mot is how someone from a race with no hair became one of the best barbers in the galaxy. I mean where did he grow up that he became so inspired to become a barber?

>>64741
I'd amend one detail though.

Instead of a treaty he helps the crew work out how to outwit a hostile enemy and shit gets rekt because Mot helps them realise these guys are just total assholes.

I also wonder if Picard chose his "identity" on "starship mine" because they had similar hair.

Once upon a time, there was no such thing as a Bolian - just an Andorian space colony on the planet Bolarus IX.

Then Mr. Mot was born.

all they have to do is just shut the fuck up until they're done, release the thing, and presto there's nothing anybody can do to stop it

If the dude was smart, he would have built a non-Trek related starship simulator, begged for money for that while letting everyone know with a wink and a nudge that 'this platform will be able to support importing your own custom ship designs!' and using the money to develop the star trek ships secretly, and release them as if you were just a renegade modder for the game.

Well that does it. Star trek is dead. It's dead. Dont consider me a fan anymore, I'm fucking done. I can only take so much.

I will NEVER give CBS money for their horrible streaming service. I pledge to pirate star trek shit they make, seed it indefinitely and never watch it myself. Because this is seriously the last straw.

Fuck CBS. Fuck ZombieTrek. Fuck everything. Just let a nuclear war envelope the planet so the very few survivors can live star trek instead. The Orville is LITERALLY all that's left and that's really not saying much.

Fuck this gay Earth.
