I was rewatching First Contact the other day and the Borg are pretty much immune to phasers (seems to be a common occurrence in Voyager as well), yet not to bullets, so why doesn't the Federation have a stash of AKs for crews going up against the Borg?

It can't be a logistics thing (the 40k explanation for shitty lasguns), as they have access to replicators and could literally magic everything up out of thin air. Why don't they immediately start replicating guns and bullets when the come up against the Borg?

I was trying to come up with an answer, could it be that the Federation plain don't like guns, they associate them with all the suffering of the 20th Century which was even bloodier in Star Trek world than ours with WWIII in the 90s and they prefer a more civilised weapon that's mostly used to stun not kill?

But I don't think this works, as the humans have phasers in the mirror universe.

Any thoughts?

Shields against kinetic energy seems pretty basic compared to shields against plasma or whatever a phaser shoots which can also vary in frequency or modulation.

My guess is it's not something they expect but would swiftly adapt to.

They are now immuned to bullets. Picard used an old machine gun on them. Takes a little while for them to build up the immunity that humans could resort to this.

Since the Borg seem to adapt AFTER something becomes a problem for them, do you think it would be feasible to fight them with like a knife, then a spear, then catapults, then cannons and guns, then nukes and space weapons? Or would they adapt to "physical object moving about x m/s" and resist all physical attacks? What is their limit because they clearly have one, Species 84762 (I know thats wrong but I always forget the specific number) fucks them up all the time with some SUPER LASER do you think eventually they could adapt or does all the information get destroyed by the loss of cubes? Wouldn't the collective eventually become all powerful given enough time and resources?

The answer to species 8472 was an adaption of the whole borg node. I propose since there is no physical consciousness outside of itself for that type of change, it would have killed them. The flaw that they really need to be aware is from nature.

I'm just sayin' it would be kinda funny if you convinced normies that 8472 was a nazi dogwhistle, cuz if that happened you know no amount of star trek fans would ever be able to convince them back again.

Would not be all that hard. If you've seen this YT channel Steve Shives that guy has a raging Nazi hate boner and stuffs Nazi hate in his Star trek videos for no reason. No seriously half way through it's like going to Wikipedia and trying to get to Hitler's page in as few links as possible from a random page and 5 minutes later it's not even a trek video any more.

Now I know fans from this board don't really mesh their political views here and I love that cuz it really doesn't matter. But that Steve guy irks me with his some cold stance of only lefties can like trek when trek has always been pretty centrist. Film theory also did a convincing video about the feds being fascist too so setting up the trek normies about 8472 shouldn't be too hard.

Steve Shives' Trek videos are a whole lot better than the videos he used to make.

Glad he's doing something productive with his time now.

So much for keeping out "polarizing" shit.
I propose an experiment just google "normies", pick "Past 24 hours" and look at the results.
