What would be the political ideology in the federation?

Depends on the timeframe. TOS era would be a great balance between everyone's needs being met but the freedom to fuck off and do your own thing as needed. By the end of TNG a mixture of the realities of trying to run what is more or less the Alpha Quadrant's largest power and just the general way societies tend to restrict freedom over time in response to specific events/tragedies it'd be de facto fairly restricted if you didn't want Starfleet, scientific inquiry or a life of nothing much. **The Culture is a much better utopian future.**

Across the federation 8,000 light years. It would take more than a life time to travel at normal speed warp, political ideology would be different in specks.

Seems to be a guy who tried every possible way to politically dunk on trek.
To the premise: The feds are definitely commies, that doesn't mean they're marxist tho.

What I found most hilarious:
>Spartan lifestyles: Even on the mixed civilian/military spaceport DS9, no one seems to have anything but a handful of room decorations and sentimental momentoes. Quarters are quite clean and barren even when children live there (and anyone with small children knows how silly that is). This could arguably be described as a lifestyle "choice" rather than the result of government edict, but it is also quite consistent with the growing list of evidence that the Federation is communist.
Ahahaha, that's the modern equivalent of saying you're having a spartan access to information because your desktop isn't cluttered with icons.

why would I read an essay about star trek on a star wars website that's just dumb

yeah that quarters thing is reading a lot into not putting a lot of shit on your walls when you're moving around a lot in a society where you can literally push a button, get anything made on the spot, and then return it to the nothing from whence it came
