Is it me or does this episode make absolutely no sense? I've been rewatching Voyagerrecently, but I never remembered it being this moronic.

Given how temporal events seem to happen almost daily, and Starfleet clearly knows about time travel and alternate realities, yet they refuse flat out to entertain Kim's explanation for what's going on.

Alternate realities and shit are hardly unbelievable. In that DS9 episode with the baseball card, Weyoun was more than willing to believe Jake's time travel story over the rather mundane truth.

Also, when this shit happens why don't they just immediately go an get a Vulcan to conduct a mindmeld and straighten everything out?

eh, it has some good characters, but just seems to fail when it comes to episode writing.

I'd say most of the characters are either unlikeable or just lesser versions of ones from better Trek series.

Probably changes the trajectory of the next show and they push forward instead of doing a prequel.

It would make a better future. They do some extremes and it lies in the art frame and they can craft valences off the centrifugal.

I think Voyager's main problem is it was a bin for discarded TNG scripts, with the occasional DS9 script thrown in. Very little material in Voyager didn't seem recycled. I mean I'm sure you've all heard my theory about how Ensign Kim was originally supposed to literally be the character of Ensign Wesley Crusher but they changed him because no one liked Wesley.

I mean, Paris was originally written as Locarno from The First Duty.

The only reason Tom Paris ISN'T Nick Locarno is because they'd have to pay royalties to the original writer and they were too cheap

When the show was in pre production the plan was for it to be alot darker than previous Trek incarnations. Think more along the lines of the Battlestar Galactica reboot. You see elements of it in the pilot two parter, but across the run of the series they were rejecting lots of scripts and forcing rewrites and rewrites of rewrites that resulted in alot of scripts being much tamed down versions of earlier drafts.

We got brief glimpses of it here and there however, and IMO those hands-down are the best episodes. When Voyager gets hijacked, when Voyager gets caught up with the time altering juggernaut ship, that one time Voyager crashed on a planet, etc.

It's too bad we never got to see hull-plastered-with-alien-armor-plating, two-warp-cores-both-running-at-20-percent, slowly-becoming-a-frankenstein-of-parts-from-across-hundreds-of-light-years Voyager plodding it's way through the Delta Quadrant, becoming a physical representation of it's Captain's resolve to uphold Federation morality and maybe even her own sanity. Or any real character development over the 7 year run.

Which they did instead of giving us character development. Instead of better plots, we get another Neelix character to explain what is going on every episode.

I mean, i like her too but I wish they did more than just throw new characters in there.

yeah as far as I understand they sold it as BATTLESTAR PREQUEL WITH HUMAN AND CYLON CONFLICT (implying the war but getting the first glimmer of discontent while a bunch of space soap happened)

Seems to me like that should have been perfectlt satisfactory: the main show just used the conflict to push endless character bullshit with the excuse that it was part of the vague concept of 'character development' aka endless twists mixed in with budget-saving bottle episodes.

>>68927
yeah, if I had gone into expecting SPACE ROBOT WAR then yeah I probably would have been massively pissed, but for Space Dynasty it was fun enough. I came real close to dropping some money on the prop auctions, they sold off a bunch of prescription bottles from the mom who took all the pills, would have been cool to get some Space Scripts
