https://www.treknews.net/2019/12/03/star-trek-writer-dorothy-dc-fontana-dead/

>Dorothy “D.C.” Fontana, best known for work on Star Trek: The Original Series, died in Los Angeles on Monday at the age of 80 years old.

>She is survived by her husband, Oscar-winning visual effects cinematographer Dennis Skotak. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Humane Society, Best Friends Animal Society, or the American Film Institute.

Damn shame, she wrote some good episodes (and some mediocre ones as well), but her contributions to Trek go well beyond that. Also I just learned there was a Logan's Run show for some reason, because she did a lot of the writing for it.

yeah as far as I understand she's responsible for a lot of the early Vulcan lore and was something of a workhorse for scifi

The Humane Society killed my dead mother's dog a few weeks ago after holding him for less than a month when I'd been on the phone about it routinely with them that I was going to pick him up but didn't have the money for a few days. When I went over there, they had more than half of their holding space empty and wouldn't just tell me they killed him, I had to find out later by checking my filtered voicemails, the cunts wanted to make me pay the money to adopt a different dog so they could still profit from what they did. Fuck this lady's last request, I'm gonna send flowers

The humane society is anything but humane. Just they wait until I complete the retrovirus to give cats opposable thumbs.

What if they started putting people who were incarcerated for petty crimes up for adoption, they could put them in a new facility where people go pick out which one they wanna adopt, they could call the place the Humane Society.

All jokes aside, that's pretty sad OP. The quote in the subject line choked me up a bit. Mainly because I was sucking a dick. My own dick, for the record, what did you think I meant someone else's dick? I don't suck dicks. But for my own dick, and it's not even something I enjoy doing, I just figure I'll make an exception for myself

Are you reverse-suggesting there is? And what would that be? I'd like you to be more specific, so that I can get a feel for what the sensational headline is this time, and get my day in court against this libelous conspiracy. I will die for you, but I will not die for your sins.

When you're done with the dick, do you know which Trek novel the quote appears in? Bonus points if you can name the scene. It seemed fitting.

Nah I didn't read the Trek novels. I don't really read sci-fi, whenever I start to the prose is usually sorta contrived and I just end up reading something else instead. I figured it was from the show. So you're telling me the quote you used isn't even something that this person said?

That's unfortunate and it looks like she had a lot of involvement in the franchise working closely with Gene Roddenberry.

In related news, Robert Walker Jr, who played Charlie Evans on the episode Charlie X in TOS also passed away.

Son, I have some more bad news.

https://intl.startrek.com/news/rene-auberjonois-1940-2019
>StarTrek.com is deeply saddened to report the passing of René Auberjonois, the veteran stage, television and film actor, not to mention artist, director, voiceover talent, audiobook narrator, painter, photographer and gourmet chef — who counted among his hundreds of credits the role of Odo on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. He also directed eight episodes of DS9, appeared uncredited as Colonel West in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, voiced Odo for the DS9 video games Harbinger and The Fallen, guest starred as Ezral in the Enterprise hour, 'Oasis,' and entertained fans at countless conventions all over the world. Auberjonois, who was 79, died on December 8, 2019, succumbing to metastatic lung cancer. His son, Remy, confirmed the sad news.

Because time and age.

It's sad but Rene lived a good life and had a prolific career. He's over a lot of media outside star trek too. I find it hard to get devastated people about who lived a life like that as much as salute them. It was good having him in our great link.If he'd died 50 years ago that'd have been sadder and no one would have cared.

I left it out of the OP but I'd like to mention that her widower, Dennis Skotak, is an Oscar-winning special effects veteran who worked on many James Cameron films and you can see him interviewed in the special features in the Alien Quadrilogy dvd and blu-ray.

Burn it down! Only subhuman trash treat doggo like that. The loyalty they've shown us over the millennia earns them a place beside us on a trip into space. Doggo will be spread across worlds. Doggo will be known to all space faring species. Doggo will become immortal and future archeologists will be confronted with the mystery of how doggo has spread so far.

Imagine living on Enterprise
>no matter where you are you can hear the faint echo of Porthos making that weird yelp-bark noise that beagles make, every time anything remotely larger than a star is visible through the window
>the bridge constantly smells like dog shit, as the air is recycled endlessly and he has nowhere to defecate but the carpet
>if not that, beagles have a particular, and an unpleasant pungent odor, which also permeates the entire ship
>some guy literally has the job of scooping this dog's shit, walking it around the coridors, and whatnot
>T'Pol was right

To be fair Porthos has more charm than anyone else on the ship and most of the vulcan race.
