How do you upload or connect something(like a server) to cytube? I have 1000s of movies and shows on my media server but can't figure out how to link it or UL vids to it.

Captain Blackwood - Wed, 29 Jan 2020 10:26:18 EST bOlOhkyn No.69508 Reply
Usually your hosting choices are google drives, archive.org, or a streaming video site like youtube or dailymotion or vimeo
google drives needs the userscript to view, archive can get popped for the more overtly modern and commercial releases, and the normal sites have their built-in copyright issues
for all I know there may be a way to plug your server into the internet if you have a static IP or something and run the media off of that, but I don't know anything about it
Greer - Wed, 29 Jan 2020 11:45:07 EST NrlvSpZK No.69509 Reply
Cytube is not a streaming service it just syncs the playing of videos and adds a chat. Each individual viewer connects to the source. Stick something on a hosting provider, if it's small a pomf clone (e.g. catbox.moe) will work but if it's larger you'll need to use something like google drive. You could also just link to your media server by linking directly to the file but that would be using your server's bandwidth for each viewer connecting.

You could also hack it around by, for example, streaming from your server to twitch and having '''that''' in cytube which would work but I think twitch is nowadays very fast at cracking down on copyrighted material using automated shit to detect you.

The problem is Voyager is static AF. Even though it's not always episodic it's 90% procedural.

Doesn't matter if the story arc is one episode or seven, reset buttons are pressed at the end of every one of them.

Most of the sci-fi from that era was pretty good. At the very least worth a watch and as good or better than most of what comes out now. Trek, Stargate, Bab5, Andromeda, Sliders, Space A&B, First Wave, Tekwars, Taken, Earth: Final Conflict, Farscape, Outer Limits, Dark Skies, X-Files, Strangerers, Starhunter, Space Precinct, Alien Nation, The Chronicle, Beyond Belief, PSI Factor, Harsh Realm, Space Rangers, and so many more.

The 90's-early 00's was really a great time for sci-fi.

That's a pretty understandable way to approach both it and BSG really. Don't treat them as SF but as drama with spaceships.

It gets less episodic and more story arc-y as the series goes on; but it's still one continuous story so I'd just recommend that you watch them in order. The show has a really strong sense of humour and meta knowledge about itself though, much more so than Star Trek.

Most of the first 5-6 Seasons are worth watching and it picks up in quality as it goes so I'd keep watching them all unless you really can't be arsed, not like you've got anything else to do while we're all in lockdown. After that it gets progressively sillier with the antagonists because every season they thought they'd be cancelled and had to wrap up the bad guy then got renewed and had to bring in a new antagonist with a greater power level to explain why he was still a threat. I think the reason it kept getting threatened with cancellation was consistently poor ratings in the USA and consistently great, but delayed, ratings in Europe.

Also while the show never devolves into modern constant arcs bullshit it does get linked in more over time and they'll often make references to similar events in previous episodes when something happens.

Tonally it reminds me of TOS but a more 90s take on that style of cheese. Also the small main cast though SG-1 does have stronger supporting characters, S1 of TOS was better for that (e.g. Riley).

I bring it up when appropriate. Back when it was airing it had distinct regional variation in popularity though with for example greater popularity in the most enthusiastic European nations (Germany, UK) than elsewhere or in North America.

New Trekkie, finished TOS yesterday, just watched The Motion Picture.
I liked it. The new costumes were offputting- all grey and white when the TV show was colorful.

I like slow movies, I like to let it sink in, but still I wish some of those ship-crawls would move faster.

Still I liked it, it's Trek. The old satellite probe at the heart of it all was probably a big statement at the time it came out (would have been current). Might read the novel because it's the only one written by Roddenberry himself.

Worf isn't the most competent officer but I don't think I'd call him a pet.

5x05 - Disaster

I find the part where Worf is helping Keiko deliver the baby weird. Is it because he's not remotely familiar with deliverying babies or he's just not used to dealing with a human deliverying babies?

Worf is just distracted because he is face to face with the source of O'Briens suffering.

1x03 Parallax

I'm still trying to feel my way through Voyager period. The cast seems fine enough, except for Chakotay, who greatly annoys me.

Also going from TNG's remaster back to VOY's SD stings a bit. Harder to watch.

If genetic alterations are so outlawed why is there a station growing psycher kids with murderous immune systems?

bump for DS9 s3e9 Defiant
DS9 ends up being a goo dplace to throw in those characters you wonder what ever happened to them. This time Tom Riker show up out of no where and decides to crash this plane with no survivors. But getting caught wasn't part of the plan. At the end Crisco negotiates the return of the Defiant for some sensor logs and Riker. So we are about to get a nice package deal. A character that should have had a HUGE impact on the universe but all but vanishes from all of space time is about to get an end, cardasian execu- I mean prison. But then Kira goes and says, "we will get you out, for real homie". So did they?

Also side note but doesn't Ros defection take place after this Ep so then how the fuck is the Maqui so dumb they see real Riker and believe Ros dumb relative excuse, they should all know about Toms big dick move.
