I just picked up All Star Batman #1. The art for Two-Face is fucking amazing. I liked the twist of Alfred having such a big secret that he was willing to betray Bruce to To-Face in order to keep it hidden. I wonder what skeletons are in Alfie's closet...

RIP the old thread, it lasted 16 months.

Nemesis43 said he will only be uploading at http://worldwidetorrents.eu/ but all I get is a blank page when I click it. What the fuck? This was his official message that came with his torrents last week:

"This is a link to my new place for uploading -
http://worldwidetorrents.eu/
It is a new and relatively unknown site, but we going to change that. Also it is stable and the uploading process is alot easier than that which I been using these past few weeks.
Uploads will start later today - for a short time they will mirror my uploads to TPB, Demonoid and Extratorrent.
Use the link - join the site - see you there.
When joining WorldWideTorrents do not wait for the activation email as instructed after sign-up - instead log in using using the same email and your chosen password. . . . and please, where possible - let others know ;)"

I'm a couple years behind on Bleach, but I haven;t read any manga in months. I wonder what is happening to Attack On Titan and Tower Of God or Hunter X Hunter (oh yeah it fucking ended again)

I don't care about answers, I just like the fights. Are those at least visually exciting still? My biggest complaint abut Naruto was the fights going downhill in quality, they went from having the powers be extremely thought out to just big brawls based solely on random power-ups. Bleach seemed to have consistent fights through the entire Aizen arc. Even if the plot behind them fighting sucks, do the final chapters at least have some sweet brawls? Or is it all just shite?

I guess that's fair. The last arc in itself isn't necessarily bad, it's just that the forced rushed ending kind of makes all of it seem like a huge waste of time. Overall it's pretty hit and miss. There are pretty cool moments sprinkled throughout but there are also a lot of chapters that are straight up "what the fuck is even happening here". A lot of the fights lean on the power up trope, but I don't think that aspect really bothered me that much compared to the other issues.

if you look at phase 3 as a spinoff and not a continuation of phases 1 and 2, it's actually pretty great. I barely even consider it the same manga. still sucks that he gave up on so many plot threads and character arcs though. I think Oya learned from Gantz though. Inuyashiki is so much more focused and consistent. I guess he's still got a couple volumes left to fuck up the ending but I'm actually very optimistic about this series.

osaka arc is actually getting an adaption

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSUw4rVb9BM

it looks pretty damn good. it's a movie too so they can get away with some of the crazier bits from that arc, like the monster made entirely of naked women. That shit would NOT fly on tv lololol.

>and probably lost a lot of interest
yeah definitely. he was clearly bored, towards the latter half of the series there's other arcs that might as well be different manga, like that stuff with the psychics. it became a dumping ground of random ideas inbetween missions for a while until phase 3 sort of took over entirely and he decided "fuck it, let the alien explain everything in a chapter or two and then just end the damn thing".

The art style made me think it was some sort of pulpy 60s-70s kids sci fi comic. some kind of time traveling flash gordon thing. but it's actually really impressive. This is from 1967 too, I have to wonder how many other series took inspiration from it. apparently the artist was in charge of visual design for fifth element too. Apparently Green Worldz finished so I went back and read the rest of it. I didn't expect part 3 to be that short, but it seems to imply there will be a part four some day. I'm not sure where else they could go with it. It does seem like the series never really reached a full climax or fleshed things out enough, but they've pretty much won at this point. what else is there to do?

All-New X-Men really, REALLY sucks.
The most boring Dawson's Creek-tier bullshit I've ever read. Glad I don't pay for that crap.

The last issue was literally all about some character I've literally never seen before and Kid Apocalypse taking young Bobby Drake to a gay club to get laid. The whole comic was just Bobby awkwardly trying to hit on dudes. Then he chatted some guy at the bar and shot a bunch of ice everywhere when their hands touched (which was admittedly kinda funny. He blew his ice-load). Then he ran outside and stopped some rampaging Moth Inhuman thing with a gay Inhuman he bumped into as he left the club.

INTO THE TRASH IT GOES. This series was tolerable when they were still focusing on young Cyclops dealing with the shit real Cyclops did.

Civil War II is still enjoyable to me. My main complaint is that many tie ins have fuck all to do with the actual Civil War II story (Spider-Man 2099 and Deadpool).
I feel like Miles Morales is going to wind up dead. Because Carol and her Nazi-Corps are gonna wanna take him in, it'll spiral out of control and he's going to wind up dead. It's going to be comparable to the way cops have killed unarmed black dudes. Social commentary, kinda. Also there was that bit in his Spider-Man book where Tony was venting after Banner got killed and he asked "Who's next?" Miles tells Ms. Marvel and Nova that Stark is right. Close up on Miles. "Who's next?"

But yes, All-New Wolverine is pretty good, I liked the Civil War tie ins.

I am pretty excited for Death of X. Issue 1 drops next Wednesday. So does the next Civil War chapter.

But Civil War II #7 doesnt come out until the last week for NOVEMBER! And the final issue doesnt come out until the last week for DECEMBER. That's a pretty fucked up delay.

Has anyone here heard of Hellsangels? (sometimes "Hells" just for copyright reasons). It's more or less just a gothier hellish version of Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School and I love it for how dumb and goofy it is. The principal is just Johnny Bravo meets Elvis meets the devil, and one of the MC's classmates is just a girl Femto. The art style seems like a cross between Junji Ito, early Tsutomu Nihei, and The Nightmare before Christmas, but much sketchier than any of em. It's dumb as hell but earnest and charming.

also I just caught up on Inu Yashiki and am now working on Meg Mog and Owl. Turns out I had a whole folder of MMOs I haven't read yet. fuck yesssss.

batoto has the official color version that's where I read it. you should be at about chapter 115 of DiU, or 380 overall. not every chapter's color version has been translated barring part 6. and part 5's new translation hasn't been finished yet so when you get to that point, you can either wait till it's done, read them as they come out, or just power through the old translations which have worse scans and wonkier translations but aren't horrendously bad or anything. Like, don't expect Diamond is Not Crash or early Berserk scanlation tier badness.

Honestly, I skipped over every page with Inhumans because Soule is such a bad writer, and Lemire's dialogue for the X-Men has been corny since he started writing Extraordinary. Also, he barely seems to know how to write Cyclops dialogue, the guy has been gone for 18 months and fans finally see him again and he is stiff and feels out of character because Lemire is a hack.

red attacks are now a thing. current fight is cliche but still entertaining. i totally don't need a hero... wait nvm thx baam gg. max cliche if kaiser has a thing for him after the fight. it IS starting to feel like some battle of the ancients with enemies showing up that've been doing the 'bad guy' thing for literally a thousand years.

can't wait for it to start bringing in some of the many high-level people that are apparently important to the story but haven't even been shown yet, like the current family heads.

I just caught up on the retranslated chapters of Vento Aureo. Holy dick these fights are incredible. I'm not quite as invested in the characters as I was with Diamond is Unbreakable, but the tension in every chapter has me on the edge of my seat. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of King Crimson.

Sometimes it can get pretty gorey. Probably not a good idea for your kid to see it. Especially if they like dogs.

As a newer comic fan, I don;t place the same significance on Number One Issues as others. Comics have entered an almost seasonal storytelling phase like television, this is like the second season premiere (s02e01 in tv terms) of Mark Waid's Avengers. Season 1 sucked so I might drop this bitch unless the Kang War goes hard as fuck.

A lot of stuff is either over, early in an arc, slow, or on hiatus right now. or people like to wait and read it in chunks (myself included). Death Of X #4 was a surprisingly good ending to the story. We knew it was supposed to end with Cyclops dying, but the reveal here was insane. Dude basically died of Inhuman AIDs like a chump and had been dead the whole time with Emma projecting a fake Scott into everyone's minds to lead the revolution in place of her dead BF Cyclops.

Civil War 2 #8 was boring as hell. What a lame event.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer season 11 issue 1 also dropped today and was a fun start to things. Looks like this season is going political.

He changed the terrigen mist, which fucking kills mutants, into a useless red cloud that does nothing to anyone. How the fuck does that make him the big, evil, Hitler-tier terrorist everyone is making him out to be? From where I'm sitting, it looks like they saved the fucking world from a genocide!
How the fuck are the INHUMANS the wronged party or the good guys in this scenario??

I mean
>Everyone in Marvel books and Marvel writers room calling Cyclops LITERALLY HITLER, he has been compared to Hitler by name in several comic books. They dont say what he did, but whatever it was, it was JUST AS BAD as attempted genocide, setting up concentration/extermination camps, advancing fiercely racial supremacist policies, and nearly taking over all of Europe under a fascist dictatorship.

Then Death of X comes out.
>TURNS OUT Cyclops was murdered by people who believe in genetic superiority and eugenics, for stopping their poison gas cloud that was wiping out an entire race of people
WHAT AN ABSOLUTE PIECE OF SHIT! HOW COULD HE DO SUCH A THING

I mean, I'd get it if in their haste, they accidentally made the could toxic to EVERYONE and then everyone had to pull together to stop it, but I guess that would have made too much sense. Marvel writers be tone deaf as fuck

Well, yeah I can understand why the Inhumans themselves would be passed about what he did, but the entire friggin Marvel universe, and even Marvel WRITERS are comparing Cyclops to Hitler because of what he did here. I mean in either the first or second issue of Champions, the team debates letting time-displaced (ugh) Cyclops on the team because it would be like "letting Baby Hitler on the team" "oh what if he grows up to be a scary violent revolutionary Hitler type guy like the REAL Cyclops" And the writers do fluff interviews where they talk about how people won't forgive or forget this terrible, terrible, terrible thing Cyke did.

Meanwhile people with functioning brains are sitting here like "uhhhhhh it looks like Cyclops Was Right tho....again."

you know they could've just rolled with "assault on the titans" or "titan assault" and still had the same basic meaning in english, the latter being more ambiguous to reflect the moral ambiguity of the conflicts within the series.

the beast titan, the armored titan, the assailant titan. if dudeman said "...the assailant titan." that last page would've been 85% less lame. who the fuck decided "attack on titan" should be finalized as the english title? translation ain't that simple.

Not even about Odin. Dumbing down the vast richness of Thor lore to lolayylmaos is retarded, and set the stage for the aforementioned magic cull. The Devil's a fucking science experiment? Are you shitting me Mahvel?
That's the problem with tying everything together; you fucking bind it to the spot instead of letting it grow. It slapped a varied colorful Multiverse in bondage. Nothing weird or eldritch or beyond the scope of mortal ken allowed, EVERYTHING must originate from our Earth/dimension/recognizable-concepts-of-reality. It was downright impressive in its commitment to making things boring.

everything up to and including the big bad hell train just got pushed into the "it ain't shit" box by everyone's arrival at the edge of the floor of death. a couple teaser panels of the floor's outskirts and some scant dialogue, and already there's nothing that even compares. the SCALE of stuff in the series' setting is really starting to shine.

Carol is most certainly not gone.
In fact, shes the opposite of "gone"
She's being hailed as a hero, actually.

Funny that every time she thinks about what a stupid nazi she acts like, they have some random female character pop up to tell her that shes absolutely perfect and has never done anything remotely wrong ever, then they cry a little and hug and she flies off triumphantly.

Marvel needs to ban Tumblr users from writing for them.

Okay, let's put aside the morality angle of Civil War II. It was still a terrible event. The guy I liked lost Civil War 1 but it was still a great event. This was terrible. Especially how the plot points went nowhere. Ulysses practically retconned himself by becoming a God, we'll never see that dude again LOL. In the end, it was all build up to those Future Visions that showed us the next handful events, stating with a teaser of the upcoming Monsters Unleashed. It was a lame event that dragged on, it was meant to promote a movie that had been out for like 7 months by the time the event ended. Sure Tony is gone but that obviously won't last long. I miss when superhero deaths lasted decades, not 18 months, like when Wally West was The Flash for 20+ years. Bendis is just a shite writer and Marvel sucks now that Rick Remender and Jonathan Hickman jumped ship.

I strongly suggest his other DC book Justice. The story is basically all the bad guys team up to take on all the good guys, but the end result is Ross drawing literally everyone. There's a bit about the teen titans that doesn't really go anywhere, just so he can draw them.

And of course there's Marvels, which I actually think is the most interesting concept of the three books. Where marvel publishing history is used a timeline for the marvel universe. But the number of times there's just a bunch of old white guys talking in a press room will leave you wishing their were more pictures of spiderman or the x-men.

I really hoped they would do an arc on the floor of death from the moment it was first mentioned. I'm glad we get to see it and it's not just a quick aside or pitstop.

I've been rereading it, and it seems damn near everything important got mentioned early on, or at least long before it became relevant. I never noticed how early Karaka shows up in the story, and now he's the primary antagonist of the current arc. and there's so much that hasn't been elaborated on. I'm still really curious about those three faces carved into the wall of where bam used to live. whoever those carvings depict are gonna be important later on.

>>42920
>that dude
I love how irrelevant he was as a protagonist. though I guess akame was the title character all along. it's god damn hilarious how they mentioned plural children though. so they just had more kids while he was a fucking dragon? Priceless.

Holy guacamole. I am so dang confused right now. So many answers but still more questions... why was the dude in the flashback suddenly babbling about Mikasa and Armin? Is the Owl supposed to be, like, Old Man Eren using time travel? Am I even reading the same comic anymore? I miss when the mysteries were unexplained and people just fought giants.

>Buffy season 11
Not digging how political this season is. Not just this book, half of DC/Marvel books are making their villains blatant Trump metaphors. I'm not a Trump supporter, I personally hate the guy, but I'm so sick of media preaching. I want a fun comic, not a fucking lecture.

>Sixpack & Dogwelder, by Garth Ennis
Section 8 is back, and also teaming up with Constantine, and Garth Ennis reminds everyone here that he is the best Constantine writer in history here. I loved all the jabs at how shitty modern Constantine comics are. It was consistently funny and the ending wound up having major feels.

it seems the coordinate connects eren across time and space to all past and present eldians (possibly future if the first chapter visions mean anything), which is why he's able to access memories from other holders of his titan without overloading his brain with memories. I always wondered if that would be addressed or if it was just something we had to ignore. I doubt there's gonna be any full time time travel or timeline alteration though, just little messages eren gets nudging him forward. judging by the timeframe he's given us there's not enough time left for a big complicated time travel arc. Now that we've gotten this far though, I wonder where the original "the mist" ending was gonna be, or if we're not even that far yet.

Ironically enough (since I'm only seeing this now); Power Pack is perfect. The concept was revived about 10 years ago for a series of cutesy miniseries, specifically for all-ages reading. Plus it's got the perfect self-insert for your specific situation.
The minis were all 4 issues long and all got trade paperbacks IIRC. Plus they're strictly out-of-continuity, so no worries there. Except for the first one and I think another in the middle they were all team-ups. Power Pack meet Spider-Man, Power Pack meet Thor, Power Pack meet the Fantastic Four, etc.. Look 'em up.

NB: It's also what gave Gurihiru their big break. Their work's delectably diabetic no matter what age you are, and easily the projects biggest strength. Not all of the minis are theirs though (I can't remember which), so it's worth checking.

Cosmic warfare is officially on and popping. Best current corner of the Marvel-verse in this book.

Seems to be a running theme in Marvel events for Kamala to realize she is on the wrong team and jump ship mid-war. This is why she's the only Inhuman who isn't shit. I wish they would stop shoehorning other Inhumans into her solo book so I could pretend she was just another random superhero with no actual classification like Captain America or Spider-Man or The Thing (Ben Grimm).

Been chain smoking bowls and reading Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol for the first time. The Brotherhood Of Dada kick ass and better be in more arcs than just this one about the Painting That Ate Paris. Best capeshit book maybe ever so far, and I've read a lot of capeshit. The issue I'm reading now, one Doom Patroller is all "Can;t we stop bank robberys like the normal superheroes" and the boss goes "leave those feeble minded pursuits to the musclebound cretins who enjoy them!" classic Morrison just trashing all the other DC books in one venomous line.

I've been digging Green Arrow's Rebirth series, so I went back to some old school GA books. First I read Longbow Hunters, now I'm getting into the famous Green Lantern - Green Arrow series, where they team up literally just for being green. The premise is that Ollie takes Hal on an SJW road trip of America to fight fat businessmen who abuse poor people. Preachy out the ass but that what Green Arrow is all about anyways.

If your going to read Rebirth, I suggest reading Longbow Hunters and then The Fear Machine to get acquainted with Ollie's current teammates and their origin stories.

it seems like we got less than a fourth of the backstory here though. it just makes me even more curious. she admits she can't tell everything, and it's obvious we're getting the the broadest of broad-strokes after listening to her story. that line about the information we didn't hear potentially "ruining" bam was especially ominous. she didn't explain the significance of his name either, I have a vague feeling that "the 25th night" means something sinister.

Decent issue but rather than this First Firmament fellow, I was hoping we'd get some suped up version of an older villain. Like, if Ultimate Reed Richards had managed to chain the Multiverse, that would be some truly epic shit, especially since it's a multiverse made by his 616 counterparts family. It could have been a good way to do a new FF storyline. How long will Marvel make us wait for them to return, anyways? Until Disney gets the movie rights?

Another villain I want back is Superior Iron Man. Before Secret Wars retconned shit and Bendis took over for Tony, Iron Man had been turned into a villain during the AXIS event. SW retconned that apparently, but I could see Evil Tony finding a way to slip past a universal reset, or someone who Ultimate Reed might resurrect if he's scouring the past for villains to bring into the new timeline.

Oh I agree.
Given the appropriate context.
Constraining MultiEternity isn't the appropriate context.
I found Doom's Rabum Alal backstory stupid & inconceivable. But at least that's Doom, the guy who can stare down telepaths and resist zombie bites and stay young on pure hate. And the Rabum Alal backstory was STILL a good step below constraining the sum-totality of every reality & possibility. They aren't even real chains! Chains can't hold a anthropomorphized idea! That's just the image they manifest as when viewed through a pathetic mortal perspective to stop said mortals' heads from exploding!
Just one Eternity is too beyond the limits of human perception to fuck with directly, it always takes a mystic entity like Dormammu or Nightmare or IG Thanos. And given the scope of this story so far even one of those guys sounds too bush league. Why on Earth would you go even further down, past little league, past fantasy league, past bloody trading card league to the realm of ~30 year old ASBOs in gaudy green & purple clownsuits who's response to mother not loving them enough was to become glorified bank robbers? Granted, UltReed was the given example and he doesn't fit these exact tropes to the letter, but FFS he's still just some emo asshat from a middle-class metropolitan neighbourhood who grand villainous motivation stems from getting dumped. I cannot accurately understate how much of a massive fucking disappointment somebody that normal & comprehensible would be after all the high concept shit about Lifebringers and Beyonder ghosts and Logos. Bloody LOGOS. Look at Logos again and imagine him taking orders from that bendy stallion.

...And this is all just me bitching about an opinion I don't understand! I haven't even gone off on who I wanted! Or my reaction to the reveal! Or the myriad reasons behind why that reveal turned out to be the perfect choice! The actual relevant canon on-the-page stuff! THAT'S how perplexed I am! It's explaining the obvious! Like like trying to define "the"!
but hey no judgin if it makes sense to you lemme know why ill be open minded

I'm the one who originally said they wanted someone goofy like Superior Iron Man to be the one who chained eternity. If you want to hear the storyline that would carry it, here we go: evil Tony was around behind the scenes during Secret Wars. He is just as smart as evil Reed Richards and knew to let evil Reed do all the work and take the fall for everything. When shit went down and the multiverse was reborn, evil Iron Man dips out some universal backdoor and slaps some universal Iron-Man infused chains on eternity. His ultimate goal: create the Ironverse. It will reduce the multiverse to a single verse where literally everything is made of Iron Man technology right down to the atoms being replaced with some new subatomic structure (maybe called Tonys). His evil tech is swarming through the new universes that the Franklins have been creating. When the Franklins notice what is going on, they choose the universe where all the current comics take place to re-appear as the Fantastic Four, team up with the shiity All-New Avengers and fight off the evil Iron Man's invasion.

idk i'm not a writer but they can give costume villains larger than life goals like chaining eternity. They always boast that non-evil Tony is oh-so smart, so how was his evil counterpart wiped out so easily while evil-Reed Richards managed to survive Secret Wars even in spite of being horribly murdered in it.

Fair enough. I can understand wanting Superior Iron Man to have actually lead to something.
Again I guess reading this series has given me a specific mindset with specific expectations. The entire point of the Ultimates is that Earth isn't the be-all-end-all and there's far bigger meaner shit out there to deal with so bringing what they're dealing with all back to Earth just doesn't cut it for me. It makes a concept defined by its depth & variety seem so shallow & one-note. I ranted about Paradise X & Universe X ITT for that very reason, would just be repeating myself.
My bet was on Oblivion, with Beyonder or Shuma or maybe even Sentry as outlier possibilities. I was disheartened when it turned out to be some borderline-OC with one namedrop ever to their credit, but the entire reason I made that ULTIAMTES AHHHHHH post was because I'd just read the issue that explained him and boy fucking howdy it was mind-blowing how much of a 180'd Ewing pulled on me. Like, I can't even list all of the little ways he rocked my world in ~6 pages off the top of my head, there were so many layers and details and loose-end tie-ups. And it all made sense! He found an empty space for every spare piece, and is the only guy who even saw the jigsaw. Man's a prodigy. Making it Tony or Maker or something doesn't have nearly the same satisfaction attached, since it'd sound like a flashy gimmick with only 2-5 years of backstory. Like CIVIL WAR II or SECRET EMPIRE, anyone could cook it up on the fly and slap it on shelves at any time they please.

I mean, take the Celestial thing alone.

Celestials have been a big ol' bag of ambiguity since their introduction by Kirby ~40 years ago. There are common theories, there have been implications, but nobody's ever outright said what they are & where they come from.

Ultimates^2 #6 did. After so long, that's satisfaction in itself. Then you start thinking about Celestials and realize how perfectly it fits. We know they're caretakers, now we know why. We know they're agents of change, now we know why. We know there are multiple variants, now we know why. It even confirmed the long-held belief that they predate the Marvel universe itself.

A week later I dug up this page that I saved months ago. It's from a 90s Fantastic Four Annual; Annuals usually had factfiles but a Celestial factfile was impossible to nail down, so it just compiles theories. Re-reading it, I realized something: to some extent, Ewing had validated EVERY PROPOSITION SIMULTANEOUSLY with his origin. Backup filler from a fucking 90s FF oneshot, something so obscure he might not've even read it himself, yet every contrasting spitball now lines up. It's insanity. And I could go on, if you've the time or interest.

I'm dubious. Then again I do not give a solitary shit about HydraCap, let alone an event centered around him, so am in no rush to check for myself.
That Spencer jab seems reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally hyperbolic tho. Pre-FalCap he was being lauded as one of Marvel's best, and the bits & pieces I've glimpsed of his work seem decidedly above-average. At worst I've heard he's an ass on social media.
Is this about the fact HydraCap's even a thing? Because IIRC his explanation was immediate & logical.

Spencer got big from SUperior Foes Of Spider-Man, which was popular for being a silly throwback to old school comics. But he was all downhill from there IMO. He's also a wicked SJW, every storyline gets preachier than the last. I get that it's Captain America, but still, compared to the Brubaker or Remender runs, this is just bad stuff. Spencer's dialogue is just unreadable to me, every line is cringier than the last. Like, Secret Empire is cool in concept but the books themselves (along with his Cap runs for Sam and Steve) are just bad. I also hate his Image book, Morning Glories. It's trying to hard to be deep but is just one cliche after another. HydraCap with any other writer would have been a cool story.

I haven't read anything new in a long time. Years probably. I started reading Crossed, on some free online comic site. And holy shit. Holy fucking shit. I saw the memes when the comic first came out "Horsecock!" etc. Thought to myself "Well surely this must be the most shocking parts of the comic, hmmmm...certainly far out there but the majority of it is probably tame lame crap." and boy was I wrong. This is the most brutal, sick, fucked up comic I've read. And I'm sure there's sicker stuff out there, but does it have a plot? That's the question. Because Crossed certainly does have a plot. The first 10 issue series was brutal, the arcs that follow not so much, but still manage to match the first arc in places. I'm an artist who's hit a roadblock in my mentality, I used to draw fucked up shit, guts, gore, monsters. Therapy and such trained it out of me, but reading Crossed man, it just makes me realize there's no point in holding myself back when it comes to illustration. I realized I need to embrace what I'm able to create when I looked at some panels after the initial shock of the thing had worn off and said to myself "Eh, I can think of a few ways to make this even more awful...". I'm not a very GOOD artist mind you, I have a lot of practicing to do, but at least now I'm not holding myself back or scared to go to the places I seem naturally comfortable with.

If you've got a strong stomach, and you like real brutal stuff with a storyline, one that makes you care about the characters, Crossed is for you. I'm going to go watch some carebears or something for a palate cleanser.
This is the image I wanted to post but thought better of it. I'm sure people don't wanna see it every time they browse http://cdn.avatar-press.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/CrossedBad16Torture.jpg?00b2d5 but it captures what crossed is viscerally pretty well. So instead have this cover the whole family can enjoy.

I have no investment one way or the other but it's worth noting that any other writer didn't come up with the idea. He was the one with a story in mind, he was the one who wanted to tell it. Good or bad he gets the credit, y'know?

True true. I should add that when I call Spencer the worst Marvel writer, that is IN MY OPINION. He has his fans. I personally find his style cringe.
>I saw some FalCap pages taking the piss out of SJWs with just as much venom tbh.
He wrote some stuff like that after everyone started bashing FalCap for being too preachy and having all the villains be cliche racist rednecks. To make up for it, he had Sam fight some environmental activists and a couple other extreme leftist groups. But almost eveyr line of his is written with a wink, like "hey, see how I just made my comic a parralel to Trump Vs Hillary"? It's not the kind of political allegory I enjoy. I like political writers, but not when it is so straight forward, preachy, and with such sub-par dialogue (IMO). Like, Falcon's current story is him protesting against being Captain America because cops shot a black guy and now he's ashamed to be defending America cuz we're all racists.

Him being an ass on social media also ties into my hating him. I could just look the other way on those complaints I listed, but then he goes on Twitter and talks about how anyone who dislikes his books is part of the problem and too stupid to see what is up. If you dislike his books, he acts like you must be an alt-right Trump supporter, when really I just want a Cap book with a writer I enjoy. I still follow the Cap books just cuz I like following all the major Marvel titles like a soap opera, but they are definitely my least favorite of the current relevant Marvel books. I enjoy Bendis books more, and that's tough.

Word, I'm checking it out. I love crossed, reading Crossed Badlands now. I really dig that they don't play with kid gloves. I remember frequently while reading it, that the shit the crossed do, is shit that has really happened. Live Flaying, Torture Rape, Horrific surgeries, etc, it's all been done, on scales we can't imagine, during certain periods of chaos in this world of ours. Really makes me think. Humans are horrifying, a lot of media likes to play up how good we are, how good meaning, good natured, I like that the crossed is the polar opposite of the most sweet, beautiful, harmless kids show like Barney, or Carebears. As good as we can be, we can be just as bad. That's the message I take away from Crossed. Also the stories are generally exciting and enthralling. I want to see what happens next. It's such a morbid fascination.

Tower of God finally explained what that weird thing in bam's body when he met wangnan. People said it was the thorn but I always figured it was something else, I half expected it to be a dropped plot element but nope.

also the new translation of Jojo Part 5 is almost done, so far the fights have been hunter x hunter level great. I tend to criticize part 3 for just being a series of battles but here it feels more organic, and it helps that the fights are amazing and each victory directly advances the team's goals rather than being a bump in the road before dio ( apparently part 3 was supposed to progress like a board game, so the pacing was intentional, just not my bag personally) I'm not as invested in the story and characters as I was in part 4, but I'm on the edge of my seat anyways.

Caught up on comics this weekend.

Batman books are looking good. Dark Days: The Forge came out, written by Scott Snyder, the prequel to the Batman event Metal coming up soon. Spoilers: Snyder's Joker is back and looking pivitol for the upcoming summer blockbuster comic. Also, If you like Joker stories, Tom King's Batman is about the have its first Joker arc in the flashback story where Joker and Riddler go to war over the right to kill Batman.

I read Alan Moore's Providence, where he does for horror what Watchmen did for superheroes.

Rick Remender's Black Science Deadly Class, Low, and Seven To Eternity all continue to be bad ass.

There's a good new Guardians Of The Galaxy mini called Mother Entropy. AFter all the shitty Bendis years, it's nice having good writers on Guardians again. The story was so good, I was going to say that they should hire the writer permanently. Turns out, the writer was Jim Starlin, godfather of Cosmic Marvel and inventor of Thanos, so no wonder this was good. Now I'm off to read early Starlin comics and see Thanos in his first appearances (looks like Thanos first debuted in an Iron Man comic of all places).

Gerry Duggan is writing the main Guardians book, he's the guy behind Deadpool's highly-succesful current ongoing. So far, so good.

Fantastic Four #48-50. Galactus is introduced. Silver Surfer is introduced. Ben Grimm reveals he got his catch phrase "It's clobberin time" from his "dear old Aunt Petunia", which somehow seemed a bigger reveal than any of the cosmic stuff.

Amen. I haven't read Low or Seven to Eternity yet, but they're on my to read list.

I keep expecting Deadly Class to get bad or stupid and it consistently delivers. The reveals and twists are fucking nuts and quite ballsy. It's really refreshing.

Alan Moore's novel Jerusalem pretty much lays out Moore's theories on the way the world works. Providence was much vaguer than Jerusalem but a lot of the confusing parts make sense to me from having read the book. Like, in Providence, when you see something leaving multiple copies of itself behind it as it walks, there's a whole lengthy explanation of how that is what human travel looks like when you are looking down on the 3rd dimension from the 4th. The protags brain is now stuck in gear slightly above the 3rd dimension and he's seeing all those secret truths he thought would be cool that he now wishes he never investigated in the first place. And they only made him gay because all the IRL cosmic horror writers of the time were also gay, so it gives him a reason to be in their social circles. Even Lovecraft, while mostly asexual, is rumored to have had brief encounters with some of his fellow writers, even while being crippled by his deep beliefs that homosexuality was evil. There's a reason all those tentacled beasts he is so scared of look so much like vaginas.

Just marathoned I Am a Hero in one delirious binge. It was incredible up to the very end. It was nothing like what I expect out of a zombie story, the zombies didn't even turn up until a full volume in. the mystery of it all really sucked me in too. but ultimately only the character arcs got finished. everything else was just ignored in the end. no explanation for the half infected, the matriarchs like that girl in spain or hiromi, the giant womb thing in the church (that was such a huge deal and it was completely forgotten by the plot), what the hive hiromi controlled was supposed to do (or really any of the hives), what the half infected guy was talking about in the church, what all that time travel shit was with oda's sibling (that might have been symbolic but if it's literal it explains what that one zombie was babbling about at the time during the mall arc), what hideo's powers were and why they werent the same as the regular half infected, the torsoless observer, or what the purpose of it all was, just... nothing.

This series could use another couple volumes for real 100% closure. I can handle leaving things mysterious but it almost seems like the author didn't even have an endgame for this beyond the character arcs and "increasingly freaky shit happens". Though it wasn't wildly unsatisfying in the end like Knights of Sidonia or Eden It's an Endless World, two series this reminded me of a bit, especially Eden. It kinda felt like what Eden should have been, except without the cyberpunk stuff and alita-esque cyborg battles.

The character arcs were damn perfect in I Am a Hero so I can forgive it for the most part. I especially love how Hideo never truly became a fully self actualized "hero" until there was nobody left to protect. Though even in the end his delusions control him, looking at his hairline it's been far more than just a half year and the jsdf isn't coming back for him or anyone else like he says. But he's finally alive now, and he could never have had that without the outbreak, or if he had gotten to safety on the helicopter.

I like that we got a proper epilogue to see everybody carrying on after the story ends, rather than the sudden end gantz had.

I didn't even know I cared about the side characters until I was suddenly overcome with happiness for that one girl getting her manga published.

I fucking wish I could draw so I could make comics/manga. I can write and have finished novel sized works before but my art/drawing is shit. Like ONE's webcomic version of One Punch Man is fine art compared to my art skills, and I'm too antisocial to meet and work with an artist. It makes me mad, because, as a writer, I feel like writing should be what takes talent and drawing should be easy peasy, just copying shit, something any no-talent could accomplish, but that is dead wrong, drawing things is fucking hard.

everybody thinks drawing is impossible because they draw a few things in their free time and get mad that it doesn't look amazing by the fifth scribble. You really gotta draw constantly to get to a point where you like your own art. lots of life drawing and landscapes too, even if all you have for references are photos. and even then if you're into comics you gotta learn to place your panels right so the page flows well, though that's easier to get used to than drawing itself. but over time you start to notice an improvement. six months after you hunker down you notice your art doesn't look like shit. a year later you notice you're drawing certain things well without a reference. and so on. but it will be very gradual. there's how to draw books but you can't base your whole style off one guy. though the loomis books are pretty good I gotta say.

also yeah I enjoyed that scene too, and the one where the son mashes that one bully's face in. it seems he didn't escape unscathed but he was a lot less fucked up than the other one.He never needed robot powers to defend himself, just confidence and bravery. Oku never bothered making the mom more likeable though. she throughout the story she's just a total uncaring selfish bitch until she suddenly isn't. The daughter got the bulk of the the family's characterization and character development time overall.
