Let's post and talk about the current animes we are watching cuz why not

Right now I am watching 2 animes in my spare time. The new season of Persona5 and I am digging it. I like how it is more focused on character development than the over the top fight scenes.

I am also watching paniponi dash a couple times a week. I haven't seen it in years and am in the mood for something wacky to finish off my days.

What about you guys?

Wish I could post a WebM of the Part 3 intro, otherwise I would.
My Hero Academia's pretty fun & I just wrapped up Season 1 of the OPM anime.
Good stuff.

Similarly, I just started watching it this month as well. Only about 9 episodes in, so still a bit to go before I get into "the meat" of the show, but it's been fine so far.

Dororo is bad ass
I finished Ueno-san recently, it was a neat little comedy anime. The episodes are half-length, so that definitely helped.

I've got my seasonal shit which includes:
Boogiepop
Domestic Kanojo
Dororo
Kaguya
Mob II
Shield Hero
Promised Neverland

But i'm also watching Plastic Memories about a dying robot girl with enthusiasm and Koi Kaze about a 27 year old man that falls in love with his 15 year old sister who he is reintroduced to after like 10 years
Plastic Memories is alright, i'd give it a 6/10 so far. The concept is like blade runner with less synthetic human murder and more drama. Koi Kaze is great but i'm on episode 10 and it feels like the story hasn't gone anywhere so far, every episode is pretty much the same.

Maybe there is still hope, but I was shocked at what happened to the Director I love. Felt like my world is ending. I’ll try to keep an open mind but I’m officially out of the Consoles. From here on out it’s all PC for me as long they keep releasing their games on it. This way I can at least mod the censorship away.

I would definitely recommend watching the animes first before watching this so good call on your part. Who knows, maybe the anime will convince someone to continue Konosuba.

The first season of Both Overlord and Tanya are solid so you ought to watch them anyways. They are a lot more serious than Konosuba and Re:Zero especially Tanya so reading the books is a better experience. Konosuba anime adaptation didnt miss much so anyone who watched the anime doesn't really need to read the books except for where the anime left off.

Finishing up Rurouni Kenshin Season 2

Honestly Season 1 > Season 2. Season 2's great how everything in relation to the plot is so tightly wound together that the show doesn't have any time to waste on non-canon stuff like in Season 1 but Season 1's filler isn't half as bad as Season 3's overabundance on Non-Canon pointlessness after Shishio is killed.

I still think Season 1 is better. As much as I love the idea that all the Surviving Manslayers from the Bakumatsu war are just out planning their own psyop attempts for total continental dominance like Raijūta wanting to claim himself to be the new Emperor of Japan by building an Ivory Fortress way up in the mountains where ground troops wouldnt be unable to traverse safely thru and stage a counter attack or Aoshi claiming how the Meiji Government isn't fit to run this nation and the nation should only be operated under the watchful eye of the Oniwaban Group

Season 2's biggest flaw is they make Shishio's master class assassin's feel like unstoppable tools of death and destruction and how the very government should quake at the might of their effective killing methods. But then when you actually get around to watching the season you realize that Shishio is absolutely full of shit and the only 2 people in his organization worth their salt are Anji who fought Sanosuke to a draw and is in no way supportive of Shishio's chaotic evil nature because "muh children Buddah pls help" and Sōjirō who has no character besides being an adorable Shota with a sword

Shishio's men shouldn't be this fucking shit the power level is all over the place. At least Raijūta's arc is stupid but its entertainingly and oftentimes hilarious dumb but in a fun Shounen Anime kind of way. The Gatling Gun scene exterminating the Oniwaban Group and Storming the Mansion to stop Raijuta's forces are still the peak of this series

I'm super disappointed they didn't do more with Shishio's character in relation on his persistance to use more and more modernized weapons like I get he's a master swordsmen but I got super hyped when they introduced his seemingly undestroyable warship that he was gonna take out to sea and absolutely fucking annihilate the Japanese Navy with all of his canon fire and Gatling Gun fire and then Sanosuke fucking yeets a hand grenade at the boat and it fucking sicks instantly

If you're gonna make Shishio an absolute fucking mad lad they did it in the worst possible way. They should have Shishio make bold but absurd claims that conquering Japan isn't enough he's gonna conquer Korea and then China and his reign of bloodshed starts becoming so well know that the US, British, and Russian Government all immediately send in their war vessels to aid Japan to help aid back against Shishio's army so essentially think Last Samurai but more Michael Bay in scale.

I love that each episode has its own self contained story, I feel like you don't see that a lot anymore and it really gives a feel of adventure
Last one I remember being like this was Kino no Tabi back in 2017, but that was just a reboot of the original show which aired when it was less than uncommon for shows like this to exist

Interesting. I'm sure I watched this because I remember the little fairy fuckers but I have absolutely zero recollection of the plot or really anything of the series at all. I think that my experiment has been a success! For some years now I've been watching anime by getting super fucking stoned and then marathoning the whole show as quick as I can. Then, if it's a great show, hopefully marijuana will fuck with my ability to remember it and then I can go back and rewatch it remembering nothing about it except that it was good and enjoy it all over again. Unfortunately in this case I don't really remember it being good and I suspect I forgot it so completely because it wasn't that interesting to me. Other shows I have like partial recollection and can remember that they were good at least and I've employed my tactic successfully to rewatch them again like it's the first time.

Just watched first ep of Real Drive.
Really mixed first impression. Starts out kind of interesting, was really surprised at how gory they went with when the professor dude had his arm caught in the wire, then segment right after there's an edgy hand combat fight with a dummy thicc android that wasn't even necessary (as in actual in-world unnecessary, only reason it happened was cause of a bull headed edgy character), followed up by an even more retarded person.
And then at points it has really neat animation (pic related), but then again they shatter the suspension of disbelief with blatant fanservice both in character design and pandering conversation.

I felt the same way. It had a solid if generic start and then gets way to into its own slow rhythm. It does improve from there, but I'm not saying it's all that good either.

Watching Attack on Titan (it's alright), Lucky Star and Carole & Tuesday, and Shield Hero at the moment.

Lucky Star is cool, but not wow enough for me to binge it as someone who's not really a slice of life fan. Carole & Tuesday is ok, but definitely not as good as Kids on the Slope.

Shield Hero is one of my favorite isekai. I've got impatient and read the manga up to the most recent chapter, and I've gotta say: not just is the manga equally as good, but they are adapting it really well into the anime! It's largely a one-to-one conversion, but the voice acting and animation is very consistent and just good (imo). And in the instances where they do divert from the manga, it's mainly to cut things short (not remove them) and move on with the plot. They are actually going in an anti-filler direction!

What is with, like, not having the princess be executed.

In older Isekai shows, the Isekai heroes would kill the princess and the high priest, even tough they were being summoned to originally save the princess. Then the heroes would deal with the power vacuum and princesses from other kingdoms invading to take advantage.

Ergo, to subvert expectation, the newer Isekai show doesn't kill the princess. Is that it?

I mean, that's what the queen was ready to do, even though she didn't want to. It was at the request of the Shield Hero that they were allowed to live.

There's a parallel here to the rage shield. Both are alluring things to do/use, but there's sinister connotations in either. They repeatedly show how the extreme rage super-focuses him on the shit people have done to him, yet blinds him to the good things that people have done, people he cherishes and what he wants for them, and in even damages him when he uses it.
In rage he doesn't care what happens to the world, because he has only been betrayed in it, but when he comes to, he remembers his party and other innocent people to whom the world is home.

Basically shield = protect, not really attack
To hang them both is alluring for them same reason it's alluring to use the rage shield: people have betrayed him, they deserve what's coming etc.

But does he have to end them? He could also simply castrate them and put them in a position where it's almost impossible for them to do any harm again.

I know it was by the Elfen Lied guy, but it was a bit too much like Elfen Lied.

Isekai Quartet season one ended.

I'm sad, since that was holding me over until the Konosuba movie came out.

I'm enjoying Rising of the Shield Hero, but when it feels like the season is gonna end, it just keeps going.

Try looking up studios, directors, and artists who made series you liked before. It helps filter down the massive seasonal releases pretty quick.

Took me a while to start doing this too. One day I was agonizing over yet another show that ended on a cliffhanger after 24 episodes with no foreseeable second season, and then I realized every anime I'd seen like that was done by Mad House. Now I at least anticipate that when I see their name.

It was full of cliches and typical shounen nonsense but really well animated and super powered fire fighters is an idea just stupid enough to work
I also find it interesting that the MC has the character design of a villain

The original

I hear Brotherhood is a lot better but I just don't... care

When there's stuff like FLCL which is incredibly brilliant and artistic and stuff like Cowboy Bebop which is incredibly fucking awesome and stuff like Maken-Ki which is incredibly pervy how in the fuck can I waste my time with this stale garbage?

Any other choice in the used anime section would have been superior to either of these two, but I really just wanted FMA for background noise. I don't use it for that because I'm kind of OCD but still, it is decent if you don't care about the plot or... voices or animation or music I guess

Why the fuck did Adult Swim pick this up and shit on their anime block for years? With their fucking terrible taste it's no wonder they had to go to one night only, who the fuck is watching Food Wars?

Meanwhile Saikano, the one good anime for chicks I've seen so far (FMA was for girls btw) was passed and never blinked at

I bet they pick up another GitS next now that it has to be dirt fucking cheap

Everyone do yourself a favor and watch Parasite Dolls

Just finished hinomaruzumo. It was pretty enjoyable but also pretty cookie cutter and the animation was pretty bad. You're getting a sports show where the little guy takes on bigger guys and wins. It's nice to know that it actually happens in sumo. There's a guy who is like 5'5'' and 215 lbs who just had a winning tournament at the highest level of sumo against guys literally twice his size. I just wish they had gone more into the technical aspect of explaining techniques and everything and spent less time talking about how hard they love sumo. The pace was also kind of ridiculously slow for a sport in which the average match lasts just a few seconds. I liked it but they could have done better.

I just finished up the first season of White Album and it was pretty good, the MC is a real piece of shit though. I've always heard that White Album 2 is a great drama and I know you can watch that without seeing the first series because it's it's own story but I still wanted to watch this first. I'm really glad it showed restraint when it came to the music, that's exactly what I was hoping for. Not to be a hater but I don't understand how people can watch shows like Love Live and Idolmaster where songs can take up like half an episode, makes me want to bang my head against a wall. The only song in this show was in the final episode and it was integral to the story.
I'm really hoping some of the bullshit the MC pulled blows up in his face in the second season

Hensuki is fun but after seeing some pages from the manga they really tamed down the lewdness. Still, i'm surprised with how much i'm enjoying.
And Cop Craft is great, I love Tilarna, but they really need to step their animation game up. There blatant moments of QUALITY in each episode

Decided to watch Saikano after someone posted about it here. It was pretty good. Well written, lots of emotionally effective scenes, interesting characters and story. I can't help but feel this would have worked better as a movie, it just seemed like a story that was better suited to be told in one go and they could have trimmed some of the fat. That didn't keep me from enjoying it at all though.
The darkest part, for me at least, wasn't even the Shuji x Chise stuff, it was Akemi. Her death and the whole scene leading up to it was one of the heaviest things I've ever seen in anime. I didn't even like her that much as a character but holy shit that part hit hard
I wasn't expecting this show to have such a heavy focus on military drama but surprisingly those were some of my favorite parts. I'm glad they never really came out and said who or what they were fighting against and it was cool to see the world they live in slowly turn into an apocalyptic wasteland. The show has a really unique atmosphere with all these characters completely aware of how hopeless everything is but still trying to live their lives.

Well, I only have one more episode of Nichijou and whatever episode 0 is left to watch... What do I do with my life after that? It's always tough finishing a really good show cuz then most of the stuff left out there seems sub-par afterwards for a while.

Anyone else know this feel?

You could watch Nichibros afterwards which is just as funny albeit a bit more grounded than Nichijou. And after that you can watch no Joshikousei no Mudazukai which is airing this season and sort of feels like a female version of Nichibros. Not as funny but it has its moments and I like all the characters

I´d pitch in with Asobi Asobase as well, it´s also kinda 'different' in it´s own way.

Watching Kimetsu no Yaiba. It's a pretty decent shounen so far but like many shounen the female characters are lacking, and this was a particularly egregious example. It was like they said, alright, we'll put in a female character but we won't let her talk and we'll just stick her in a box out of sight for most of the time. Like, why even bother? Kind of wish Japan would get a little feminism going so shit like this wouldn't happen.

Watching Mo Dao Zu Shi because I saw season 2 is airing. I tried to get into this earlier but they introduce a ton of characters who all look the same and have similar sounding names and then they go and give everyone a third fucking name and the relationships between the characters are fired out super quick so I was a bit confused and just dropped it. Now this time I went back and looked at a character guide as they introduced the characters and I'm having a better time of it. Chinese is an absolutely horrid language to listen to and it sounds like everything they're saying is rushed as fuck like chinese can transfer more meaning in less time than other languages or something, but the sets are fantastic and the chinese themes are refreshing. So far I'm enjoying it.

Date a Live, it's been in my backlog for a long long time
This show is pretty absurd and a nice break from all the depressing shit I've been watching lately. It doesn't take itself too seriously
The girl with the clock eye hasn't shown up yet which IIRC was the whole reason I added this to my watch list, I like her design a lot

I decided to watch watamote cuz why not it was big a few years ago and I never even bothered to check it out.

I am very entertained by this show. It's fun seeing the mc be so drastically affected by an anxiety disorder combined with high school craziness cuz I remember doing a bunch of stupid ass shit back in my high school days fueled by my anxiety. Also they do some cool stuff with the artwork in the show that you don't find in your average anime.

Overall I am glad I decided to watch this, not really good enough for me to want to buy a hard copy but still really cool and unique in it's own right.

That pic I just included was from the most recent chapter and was pretty cringe to me. This is from chapter 163 as well and is funny, although not quite cringe.
