Who says it should be "anime and manga"? Why not "anime and cartoons"? Or "anime and Japanese cruelty shows"?

Battle Royale was everything to me in high school...and the only manga I ever fully loved. Ultra violence, graphic sex, sometimes both...just look at this panel of a girl fucking a dude to death.

It’s soo over the top I had a hard time keeping up with it. It’s not that I hate the stuff but it’s just too much. I read the manga ages ago and I still haven’t read anything close to it.

I did watch the movie and it was mediocre.

By that logic, manga could just as easily go into /616/.

On the other hand, there is no general cruelty show board.

Asebi and Adventurers of Sky World

It's really great if you have a fondness for stuff like late '90s JRPGs, adventure anime like Outlaw Star and things like Mega Man Legends. It doesn't do anything spectacularly new but to does it all with a lot of competence and charm and the author's draws some well choreographed fights and action scenes.

Figured I'll ask, there are loads of manga that don't get anime implementations.
Are there manga that are focused on stuff like programming / electronics stuff? I know about the Manga Guide To (thanks a buttload for those recs, somebody on this board), but is there something where it's just a main part of the story?

Half programming half lewdHumor/ecchi romance type manga, so it doesn't get dry. Even a pair programming segment IIRC.
Still interested in more though.

>Violent Hero RIKI-OH
Finished it over two days. Published in 1988-1990, this manga starts in a prison where the protag Riki-oh is serving a jail term for assault. He has a good heart and fights essentially bad guys.
Super gory and plot gets evermore high-stakes as he has to save the world from kung-fu nazis.

re read gantz.

thoughts: i like it more after reading through it again. people flipped out over the ending but IMO it made sense. the author could've opted for something more interesting when it came time to cover the reason behind the series' starting premise, but the whole alien invasion idea was started pretty early on and carrying that for the conclusion is cheap but also ok. also since my first read i've got a lot more old scifi novels under my belt. the author handled the aliens pretty damn well, most notably the super advanced ones from the question and answer scene near the end.

I liked the way the manga handled things for the most part. For how wacky the whole story was all the way through, that ending made plenty of sense. At least I wouldn't be able to think of a better reason for the whole death game.
