I went to military school, weighed in at 130. Five months later, I came out at 150. I was lazy for all of two months, I swear, and now I’m down to 135 again. In two months I go to basic, and I want to know what are your guys tips on gaining muscle weight fast. The only thing I will stop at is steroids.

eat and lift as much as this guide recommends. You can gain 7lbs of muscle in 6 months easily as a lightweight, and some pounds of fat are evne easier.

in the top of the OP in the link, it talks about calculating your TDEE and eating 500kcal above that. Id recommend that because you are light.

also, starting strength if it isnt already emphasized in the OP

ask questions in this thread or that thread, whatever you want, Im a physical therapist with time to kill so ask away nigga

When I work out, instead of reps, I just do it until I can’t anymore. Is this worse or better?

worse
training until failure prolongs recovery and does not actually improve strength.

additionally, I will emphasize the routine starting strength again.

here it is:

choose starting strength and follow it

I used to weight train til fatigue and ate a shitload every day to gain weight past 160. Ended up gaining 20 lbs in a couple months. I'd have to space out my lift days though because of the recovery time required, but I still gained a ton of muscle.

I will ask you to take my word for it unless you want the research, but training to failure can prolong recovery for an additional 48 to 72 hours on top of the already existing 48 to 72 hours. Training for high frequency (2-3x/week) for most muscle groups with a normal 48 to 72 hours recovery can allow one to achieve more volume, and thus more hypertrophy (volume = hypertrophy pretty much).

So if you trained to failure and it worked, it was probably because you were a novice and doing literally anything in the gym will make you gain weight and get stronger.
However, if you get strong as fuck youll learn real quick training to failure blows you the fuck out

Yeah, at a certain point I was lifting 2 times a week because I needed 3 days before my body would fully recover (stop being sore). I read about it, it appears that training to fatigue has benefits but only on your last set to avoid the most detrimental effects of fatigue training.

It's different than what I'm used to. I was trained by a real old school gym teacher for weight training and never really looked back since I saw results. But not training to fatigue until the last set will definitely feel better. Maybe fatigue on deadlifts or something.

Im reading it and its just god awful
> your nervous system is forced to use your body's larger fast-twitch muscle fibers.
no. when you reach reps of failure, you are already done using fast twitch fibers and usually hitting rep ranges where slow twitch fibers are being used

fuck this is hilarious

Op I've been struggling to gain weight for years. I actually just weighed in yesterday at 140lbs, up from 130lbs at the start of the year. In your goal of, "not being a weak faggot," step one is putting on pounds.
