Think what she's saying, though, is that there's a culture where some unintelligent women are asserting that men don't have a right to talk about women or women's issues. Mostly because some unintelligent men such as the guys you're talking about really do value a woman first and foremost by her physical appearance, and yeah, other women do feed into that, because it's an easy way to gain status, if you can invalidate a competitor (male or female) for such superficial stuff. To be fair, though, this also happens to men who are quite fat or quite short -- they're written off as valid people because of their physical attributes. Admittedly there's some basis in reason to this; we're physically attracted to what we're attracted to in humans because those traits indicate general health and quality of genetic material. You can't escape that. But I'm pretty sure that on the whole, stupid people amplify this unoressuib, because they're less likely to value intellect since that, too, is competitive. By devaluing intellect and amplifying the primacy of physical beauty, they themselves get a leg up, regardless of gender. Sort of the mental equivalent of a "neg."
Here's a somewhat related anecdote. In Japanese society this effect is particularly bad. At work I sit close to a very beautiful Japanese woman. All the Japanese guys go out of their way to talk her and treat her well, including the married ones. It's quite obvious she's accustomed to men treating her this way. She's also extremely intelligent. So she's developed a natural idea that men should be sort of subservient to her, because they always are, and because she's excellent at working both men and women (there's a lesbian woman in the office who's in love with her who does the same thing). She's very polite and kind. But if you dare cross her, she comes down like hellfire. I've seen this more than a few times and am quite unimpressed by it. She becomes absolutely incredulous if you contradict her in any way. You can hear the Kill Bill theme going off in her head and see the daggers in her pretty black eyes. So while I see her physical beauty, I can't really see her as attractive, because I just see this really controlling bitch lurking beneath. More interestingly, I'm about 80% sure she has a thing for me, because I'm not too hard on the eyes, and she often blushes when she talks to me. Also probably because I'm not interested in her, and don't pander to her because of her looks, yet am still interested in women ... this is maybe exciting and new for her. I don't really know what the fuck that has to do with anything, not really trying to make a point. I think it's just sort of interesting. You can see how this culture of vanity regarding women does no-one any real good. Yet, as long as there are stupid people in the world, can we escape it?
